Hampton Inn & Suites Stephenville

The biggest problem is we have stayed there numerous times over the last three years and at the beginning it was beautiful. Now, the pool has leaves and floating trash in it, the hot tub still doesn’t work (it used to) and smells funny, the shower in our room smelled moldy and most of the carpets are torn in places making some trip hazards for those of us with some mobility issues. The prices for the rooms are to high for the issues on the property - this has become closer to a motel not a hotel.

We booked this hotel specifically for the indoor pool but it is closed due to construction. That should be disclosed when booking hotel, very disappointed.

SNAKES! Now that I have your attention, yes, on our third night there was a healthy, three-foot long copperhead curled up on the warm parking pavement behind the hotel. Now in fairness, this is NOT the hotel's fault, and they lose no points for it. Stephenville is indigenous to all four of North America's poisonous snakes, and the brushy area behind the hotel is exactly the sort of spot where they like to hang out. You just need to be aware... On things that do count, this is probably the best hotel in Stephenville, I'm sad to say... The rooms are small, with a decor I can only describe as Early Dormitory. The breakfast was cold, and the watery oatmeal was one of the saddest dishes I've ever seen on a hotel buffet. Parking is free, but can be limited because construction crews staying in the hotel park their large trucks everywhere. And you get all this at the same price you'd pay for a nicer Hampton Inn room in Dallas. But as I say, this is probably the best hotel in Stephenville, and with no competition, you take what you can get...

Worn down condition, pool was kind of gross and there were dead spiders and bugs all over. The mirror did not attach to the wall and with a toddler that could have been very bad. We were supposed to have a suite with a king and they gave us a queen as she said suites weren’t available. Minimal breakfast choices. For the town it’s an ok place to stay but for anyone stopping through more than a night l May not recommend it

Carpeting in hallways had moldy smell. Hot tub was not working and had not been working; told would not be repaired till planned redo of entire hotel completed. We booked because we wanted to enjoy the hot tub!

Not well equipped in the rooms, the fitness center or the breakfast area. And most everything was out of order.

Smelled terrible, room was older and not in very good shape, bed was not comfortable, ac didn’t cool the room very well at all. The AC in the building was out, making the pool area ridiculous hot, couldn’t even use the pool. The hall way snelled like vomit.

Pool was closed due to Maintenance? This needs to be relayed on all booking sites, thats the only reason i booked it was for the indoor pool

Staff attitudes are laughable and rude. Amenities are either off or the staff has no idea how to operate them. Lights flicker, paint is falling off the walls and ceiling. Landscaping has not been maintained in quite some time.

Grounds in disrepair and grown up around hotel. Room had s terrible musty smell. Bathroom is in dire need of repair and remodel due to a number of water leaks. Bathroom was disgusting.

They had a nice breakfast set up. The lobby area was very welcoming. The room was nice and clean, however it smelled a little musty. We will stay there again.

The hotel is very well mantained, the personnel where super friendly, breakfast was delicious and with healthy options, cleanliness of the rooms was excelent. The only issue is we did not get the room cleaned one of the days of our stay.

The property had no hot water even after they told us to run it for 30min. It was extremely expensive for no hot water. The sign from the hotel was in our eyes all night even with the curtains. Carpet on the hotel looks old and ripped, lawn needs to be mowed, the lobby smells musty like mold.

Bathroom ceiling had holes in, AC didn’t work, carpet was sticky, and there were dead crickets under the night stand. Disgusting and hot.

We have stayed at this Hampton Inn many times over the years and it continues to decline. This trip we asked to change rooms due to mold and mildew in the shower. The grounds around the hotel were horrible. Weeds were over 5 feet tall and did appear to have been cut or mowed in months...if there were not cars outside it would appear to be abandoned. The front door to the lobby apparently would not close because it remained open the entire trip. Will most likely not stay at this Hampton in the future which is a shame since it is close to our familty.

A/C would not work. Stayed a constant 78 degrees in our room. Front desk came to look at it, she turned the T-Stat to 62, which I did as well. Still did not come on. She tried to tell me that it would kick on after she did the exact same thing I did. Never resolved! The exhaust fan in the bathroom had about 2 inches of filth on it, blood on the drapery and walls. And to finish it off, I had to kill 2 roaches in our room. Not a great experience!

Air conditioner fell apart and beds were u comfortable. Description said that it slept five, but there was no sofa bed and no cots available.

Very disappointed paying close to $200 a night when the clock didn’t work, the light was missing a bulb and the shade, the curtain was barely hanging onto the rod and the AC unit didn’t work, the room would not get colder than 80s.

This hotel was just okay. The hotel is in need of some repairs and the air in our room did not cool.

Room was huge

The mattress was incredibly uncomfortable. The maintenance that cane to fix something next door was noisy.

Horrible beds

The King room we had was so big!! We loved it! I also loved the jar of chocolate chip cookies in the lobby.

Great staff and a very friendly reception at check in. This hotel is absolutely fine but getting a little old and tired. In need of a bit of a make over and TLC. We would probably stay again but only because there are limited other options. Definitely better than the Best Western Plus in Stephenville where we previously stayed, but only just.

We were supposed to have a double Queen room. Were told it was overbooked and all that was available was a king with a pull out sofa bed. The sofa bed was uncomfortable and not enough blankets. Room was not clean and staff was unwilling to help. Changed rooms the next day to a double and the remote to tv didn’t work. We went to the front desk 5 times for assistance and the attitude was horrible by the staff and they would not help at all. We usually select Hampton due to consistency. They’re usually clean, service is great and we know what to expect. This is the second time we’ve stayed at this Hampton and both times were extremely disappointing. We will NOT give this Hampton our business again.

Friendly helpful staff

The staff was amazing! Had snacks and drinks when we arrived and sent a text after we got settled to make sure all was great! Best service I have ever had! We will stay there agin!

The staff was great. I did have a problem with noise. The walls are very thin and there was a group of young adults who had no consideration for others around them. I had to call the front desk at almost 2 am and the young man who answered took care of it immediately. Jenn at the front desk was so helpful and friendly.

The distance between the hotel and Tarleton University was perfect. I’m so glad I was able to find something so close and will be returning in the future.

Centrally located for easy access to most parts of town.

I had a wonderful stay. The hotel was conveniently located to the places I needed to go during my stay, the staff was very friendly and the premises were very clean. I especially appreciate that it is a pet-friendly hotel and was given a room with easy access in and out for my dog's and my convenience.

What I liked the most about property was the staff and the location. Its very near FM 108. I basically drove into Stephenville, unpacked and went to dinner just minutes away. The next day, drove a couple of blocks and turned left on FM 108 and went on my way.

There was a notice posted that the rooms were serviced every other day so I wasn’t expecting service the second day, but on the third day our room was apparently missed. When I brought it to the front desk’s attention they said the cleaning staff was gone and there was nothing they could do. This would not have been such an issue except there was one small trash can so after two days it was overflowing, we were out of cups, and the conditioner for the shower was empty. The front desk staff was polite and helpful but couldn’t address the cleaning issues. Also not a convenient location - nothing nearby.

Hotel was great! Good breakfast and clean room. The beds are in need of replacing but they are sleepable! Overall a good experience!

Bathroom door wouldn't shut cleanly because the floor was uneven, also there was no hot water the entire stay. Breakfast in the lobby was a bad selection too
