Plenty of free parking .The room and bathroom were clean and comfortable . Plenty of tea and coffee , with the kettle. It was near a country park with a lake to the side of it . The food in the attached pub was lovely. Free breakfast and plenty of it. The best bit , that can make or break a stay The staff.All friendly and helpful. If we have to go back to Swindon it will be The Sun Inn we stay at .

Great location just outside of town with a good regular bus service a few minutes away. Rooms are clean and a good size with a walk in shower, kettle and tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits replenished daily. A nice little outside patio area for each room has two chairs for sitting outside if you want although there is a large garden area.The staff are very friendly and welcoming and the freshly cooked breakfast sets you up for the day. The food served in the bar is very good and there is a good selection of Arkells beers on as well as a good choice of cider. All in all i would definately stay here again.

We love this place! This was our 3rd stay, and we will keep coming back! Bridget and the Team are lovely, the dog friendly rooms are fab (and spacious) and set in their own oak framed building within the grounds (so nice and quiet if you want to retreat early, or have an undisturbed lie-in 😊. Nice menu with Specials available, excellent food (including a delicious breakfast), and a great atmosphere. See you again soon ☺️🙏👍 M, A & Ava (aka Bubbles! 🐾)

As a lone traveller I felt completely safe and my room was comfortable, spacious and also had table & chairs outside which was perfect for my morning cuppa! Breakfast was really nice too. Huge car park and the staff were so welcoming.

Fantastic location next to a museum and country park. Check in was ok at its a working pub and reception is not always manned. Free self parking on site. There is an annex built at the back of the pub with en suite rooms with modern amenities as expected i.e. towels, toiletries, fan, full length mirror, kettle tea coffee sugar milk cookies in room, chair plus side table in room. Free freshly cooked hot breakfast. What needs improvement is (1) no aircon (2) there is no water dispenser in the lobby/reception, (3) I read reviews and specifically requested a room furthest away from the pub but be mindful that upper floor rooms are to be accessed via steps for those who have mobility issues (4) service at Breakfast on second morning was delayed. When I popped by the reception as no one came to take our order, the gent seemed to be a little rude (but in hind sight he later seemed friendly at check out so I will give him the benefit of doubt as he was probably just overworked and stressed with the kitchen staff)

Wonderful place, great layout the pub, garden and rooms areas. Lovely staff, who couldn't have been nicer, and friendly and welcoming guests and locals. Added bonus is Coate Waterpark, accessibpe through the field at the back of the garden, so no need to use your car all weekend! Cracking place, would highly recommend.

The accommodation was clean and looked newly built although it's 10 years old. Really nice room and bathroom with walk in shower. Tea and coffee making facilities. The Sun Inn is a pub and the accommodation is next to it. The beer is very nice! Full English breakfast was a treat, very good value for money at £71 inc breakfast for a double room. Friendly staff

The place doubles as fine accommodation and a busy pub/restaurant. It was easy to find with ample parking. I was greeted warmly on checking in. There was a bit of a trek to my room which was outside and up a flight of stairs but was well worth it when I got there. There was a lovely little dining area outside the room door on the balcony which was used later on a sunny 80 degree day to sit back and relax. The room had patio doors looking out, a sofa and coffe table along with the king sized bed. The bathroom was fantastic providing both a deep soak bath and walk in shower. There were plenty of dining options in a nearby radius. I was able to go on an hour long walk around the surrounding suburban area which seemed very safe. The shower helped me to de-stress and I settled for a very comfortable night's sleep. Breakfast was served a little later than I am used to, starting at 08:30 but was good. All in all, I would look to stay here again if I can secure the same room for the reasonable price I got it for.

been here before but someone's decided that breakfast is from 9 till 11 - luckily somebody agreed we could have breakfast at 8 but that's still quite late for "workers" - my colleague lost his key and had a difficult time locating a member of the hotel team as they said no 24 hour assistance - makes me wonder if I'll stay again

This was a budget stay on a trip back from airport. It was cheap and Ines expectations were limited. The disappointing thing is that it could so easily have been good but the general maintenance and cleanliness of the property is very poor. In the bedroom there was black spot mould on the en-suite ceiling; the shower door/ seal was mouldy; the shower control was very badly worn and hard to use; the toilet was dirty under the waterline and the mattress was beyond its best with springs very evident. The outside areas were at best grubby with rotten fencing and a feel of unkempt decline. Inside the pub it just felt grubby. A potentially very nice set up with very helpful staff is clearly badly managed and is lacking maintenance input from the owners.

This is our second time at The Sun and not disappointed. Spacious room which was immaculately clean with lovely fluffy towels.Great shower Comfortable bed and good choice of complimentary drinks plus biscuits Lovely cooked breakfast.Plenty of parking

This was a really lovely place to stay. We received the warmest of welcomes and excellent service from all the staff throughout. The room was well presented, clean and spacious and despite being near a busy road was very quiet. The food served in the pub was simple, fairly priced and delicious. The location was brilliant with Coate Water tucked behind so we enjoyed a couple of beautiful walks by the lake. I would definitely recommend The Sun Inn and look forward to returning.

Room was full of black dog hair, dirty and tired in general, bathroom appalling with mould a plenty. Spiders in every corner. Very poor mattress. Staff were great no issues there. Such a shame, we had booked 2 nights but could not bring ourselves to stay the second night, even though they made an effort to clean the room. Will avoid.

It was the 1st time we have stayed here and if we were taking this route again we would definitely stay here again. The room was pleasant and and clean witj a comfortable bed. We didn't eat in the restaurant but the breakfast which was included in the price was very good. no fruit or croissants etc, but traditional English. It was also convenient for the motorway. Only minor complaints the tiles in the shower the grout was mouldy., why is this such a common problem? The stairs to the room the handrail etc could do with a cost.of paint and the area outside the fencing to the restaurant was overgrown and needed attention. Hoe6, generally good and good value for money.

Really good property! Stayed for two nights. Great value for money - breakfast included was a great bonus. Only downside was there were a lot of ants in the breakfast area and different ant traps like marmalade still out when we were eating breakfast. It wasn’t a massive issue as we just moved seats but it would be great if this was under control :) would stay again if I return to Swindon.

Staffs were friendly and good location. The room was decorated nicely. Mattress was very uncomfortable and the room gets very hot without leaving the window open which is directly next to their pub garden. Breakfast was okay but inside the milk jug had some settlements

Amazing stay Big room, clean, quiet, big bathroom and there are both a bathtub and a modern shower. Shower gel and bath gel were individually wrapped Heated floor in the bathroom with roof windows Many kinds of tea and coffee Iron and ironing board Two nice windows full of air circulation Lovely balcony Breakfast was amazing with fresh meat and egg and seasoned mushrooms…big solar roof in the breakfast room that gives lights to the room Parking was huge and easy to park The least expensive and the best place to stay in the UK among my last 10 hotels. I had paid triple for another inn the night before and got not even half of what they offer at the Sun inn

Stopover on the way back from hols and it worked well for us and the dog . Room (9) was well away from the very lively pub. Room was a decent with a good bed and bathroom, spotlessly clean. Decent breakfast All in all a really good stopover hotel, couldn’t really fault it

We stayed here en route to bath and was delighted with our room that included a good English breakfast,rooms nice and large with ample towels,tea coffee and all your usual needs,even though it’s near the main road we had windows open and never heard a peep.Hotel has a great bathroom too with a nice large shower

Location was perfect, being next to the park. The room was very good and the breakfast was excellent. The only thing that could have made it better was to have a ground floor room, because we found the stairs difficult, having a dog.

Excellent cabin in groundsEasy Parking Great Wi-Fi Good location with the park mins away for a walk around the lake. Shame they had no bitter the evening we were there but overall great and well priced with a proper breakfast complimentary.

The place doubles as fine accommodation and a busy pub/restaurant. It was easy to find with ample parking. I was greeted warmly on checking in. There was a bit of a trek to my room which was outside and up a flight of stairs but was well worth it when I got there. There was a lovely little dining area outside the room door on the balcony which was used later on a sunny 80 degree day to sit back and relax. The room had patio doors looking out, a sofa and coffe table along with the king sized bed. The bathroom was fantastic providing both a deep soak bath and walk in shower. There were plenty of dining options in a nearby radius. I was able to go on an hour long walk around the surrounding suburban area which seemed very safe. The shower helped me to de-stress and I settled for a very comfortable night's sleep. Breakfast was served a little later than I am used to, starting at 08:30 but was good. All in all, I would look to stay here again if I can secure the same room for the reasonable price I got it for.

We had a lovely 2-night stay, the staff could not be any better, very personable, always jolly and happy to have a bit of banter. It's great to see that, even though there has been a change of hands, The Sun Inn us still a great place to stay. The Breakfast selection was set up just right, you could choose from a piece of toast to a full English, there was even an option of a bigger full English lol. Dining in the evening was superb, smallish menu, but something for all. All in all we had a great stay whilst visiting a couple of local attractions on our holiday.

We love this place! This was our 3rd stay, and we will keep coming back! Bridget and the Team are lovely, the dog friendly rooms are fab (and spacious) and set in their own oak framed building within the grounds (so nice and quiet if you want to retreat early, or have an undisturbed lie-in 😊. Nice menu with Specials available, excellent food (including a delicious breakfast), and a great atmosphere. See you again soon ☺️🙏👍 M, A & Ava (aka Bubbles! 🐾)

Barry and his team provided a great level of service to ensure our stay was quiet, comfortable and enjoyable. The room was tidy and well equipped with the necessary toiletries and refreshments to use. Breakfast (full English) was cooked on demand with self service for toast,cereals and juices,teas and coffees. For a Public House with accommodation to provide this level of service shows dedication to the hospitality sector.

The room we had was, I would say shabby chic decor. Very clean and comfortable. The service in the morning for breakfast was excellent and the food itself, excellent. As for the service and food in the bar in the evening, that is a different matter. The staff are young and untrained in customer service. One lad in particular was grossly inattentive and provided very poor service to customers and help to his fellow workers. The poor young girl in the red shirt, whom I think might have been the manager for the evening, was running around doing all the work. She needs training on how to manage staff.

The location was brilliant with Coate Water tucked behind so we enjoyed a couple of beautiful walks by the lake. I would definitely recommend The Sun Inn and look forward to returning.

I’m sorry to say that my two night stay was not enjoyable. Reception was not very friendly on arrival, staff were disorganised. The accommodation is opposite the garden which was full of children until 1030 pm on the Friday night and Saturday we were next to the birthday party in the function room, again lots of noise until late. I appreciate this is a pub but the activities are too close. Breakfast was late on the Saturday morning as it was not open until 8.30 ish and had to wait 45 minutes for our food. We were then very late for our class. We have future classes booked, but will not be staying at The Sun Inn, sorry. The breakfast staff very the friendliest 😊

Fantastic location next to a museum and country park. Check in was ok at its a working pub and reception is not always manned. Free self parking on site. There is an annex built at the back of the pub with en suite rooms with modern amenities as expected i.e. towels, toiletries, fan, full length mirror, kettle tea coffee sugar milk cookies in room, chair plus side table in room. Free freshly cooked hot breakfast. What needs improvement is (1) no aircon (2) there is no water dispenser in the lobby/reception, (3) I read reviews and specifically requested a room furthest away from the pub but be mindful that upper floor rooms are to be accessed via steps for those who have mobility issues (4) service at Breakfast on second morning was delayed. When I popped by the reception as no one came to take our order, the gent seemed to be a little rude (but in hind sight he later seemed friendly at check out so I will give him the benefit of doubt as he was probably just overworked and stressed with the kitchen staff)

On the positive side I was able to get a good nights sleep (both nights), very comfy bed and lovely and quiet. On the negatives I thought the service was lacklustre. When I went for breakfast the first morning the manager didn't offer to take my order which seemed strange so I waited longer than I needed to. For the second day I went for breakfast at 7.20 am (breakfast was advertised as being from 7.00am) but no one was around. I decided it was best to shower and go to work rather than hang around. I therefore have to mark the stay down. That said I would still recommend the Sun Inn especially if you value sleep and location above all else. It's in a great location for Swindon and near very nice walking spots including Coate Water.

been here before but someone's decided that breakfast is from 9 till 11 - luckily somebody agreed we could have breakfast at 8 but that's still quite late for "workers" - my colleague lost his key and had a difficult time locating a member of the hotel team as they said no 24 hour assistance - makes me wonder if I'll stay again

The amazing service and friendly, welcoming staff made a great impression. We turned up late and missed last orders for food; however, they were incredibly accommodating, providing us with cutlery and plates so we could order in. The room was great, clean, and had everything we needed for a comfortable night's stay. I would definitely consider this hotel for another visit.

Perfect location for a break in our journey, just off M4, junction15. Staff were exceptional, room was pleasant, pub atmosphere was friendly and busy, with entertainment the night we stayed, breakfast was great and would most definitely book again if in the area. Shame we were not there longer as Country Park close by which we would have liked to visit. Great value for money :)

Welcomeing and friendly staff. Good english breakfast but no continental style option, not a problem for us but worth noting if that's your preference Rooms are in a block at the back of the main property and are clean, quiet and functional. Hotel is dog friendly and has a play area for children along with a good car park.

The room was a bit tired, but very clean with plenty of extras shampoo etc. The 1st night the service in the bar was dreadful. We waited over 90 minutes for food, it was not totally what we ordered, but we still had to pay full price. The 2nd night wasn't much better, we were told that French fries were still off the menu. The 3rd night we ate elsewhere. Breakfast wasn't brilliant, but acceptable

Really good property! Stayed for two nights. Great value for money - breakfast included was a great bonus. Only downside was there were a lot of ants in the breakfast area and different ant traps like marmalade still out when we were eating breakfast. It wasn’t a massive issue as we just moved seats but it would be great if this was under control :) would stay again if I return to Swindon.

The room was very nice and adjacent to a nice park. Just don't eat here for a main meal, all 4 meals were terrible... cheap but terrible!

Quick overnight stop on our way down to Southampton after a shopping trip to MacArthur Glen Outlet. We had an excellent night’s sleep . Bed was very comfortable and bathroom was spacious with a great walk in shower. We were disappointed with the evening menu as there was limited choice unless you wanted pizza or a burger so we ate elsewhere.

Fantastic stay at The Sun Inn, booked last minute. Called to check we could take our dogs, chap on phone super helpful and advised dogs are allowed. Easy check in, room was lovely, very comfortable bed, clean. Food was fantastic and all staff super friendly. Thank you for a lovely stay x
