This is an amazing hotel. It has been updated but they have maintained the charm/features of the original facility. It is just a 10 minute walk to the botanical garden and a 20 min walk to downtown where everything is located. Andrew was so helpful in giving directions and making recommendations. Have an onsite laundry was wonderful. Room was spotless and very comfortable. Highly recommend

Lovely little hotel but terrible parking. We had a 2 bedroom room but the second bedroom just fits a single bed and thats it. It was ok for our needs but not if your 2nd guest needs space. Staff were lovely and helpful. Only problem was the parking, so be prepared to park on the street.

We stayed 2 nights in Highland House in September. The room was spacious, comfortable and very clean. The continental breakfast provided was basic. Though right on George St, road noise was not an issue, and it was a comfortable walk into the city.

This would be great in warm weather, but it was cold and the heater was inadequate. It never got the room fully warm and to keep it modestly warm you had to push a button just about once an hour when it cut itself off. But it was just too cold overall. Beautiful room. Wonderful staff.

I loved this little hotel. Its like stepping back a century! It's beautifully restored and cared for, with a very comfortable bed and an excellent shower over the bath. A staff member was happy to help when I asked for someone to carry my bag down the steep staircase.

We enjoyed a lovely stay here. Walking in the nearby park was so nice listening to the birdcall and enjoying the bush. We did have to drive to get a meal - no restaurants nearby.
