The interior was upgraded, clean, cozy, and well laid out. The property is 3/4 blocks from the ocean; you can hear the smoothing waves breaking from the bedrooms. We did not cook, but did notice a full kitchen with a complete set of pots/pans, appliances (water heater, crockpot, blender, etc.), drinkware (wine, water, coffee mugs, etc.), silverware, tupperware, very modern microwave/oven, and a new refrigerator. Not that it was expected or required, except for salt and pepper no condiments/cooking oil/flour/spices etc. is provided; just noteworthy for anyone who plans to cook while staying. Location-wise, the property is very close to the ocean and 5 minute walk to both the historical part of Pacific Grove as well as the newer downtown. There is no dedicated parking on the property, but we have never had problems parking on the street in front of the property. Sanctuary Vacation Rentals was very professional, communicative, and very easy to work with.

Easy walking distance to ocean front trails and tide pools, aquarium, shops, restaurants, etc. The well equipped kitchen has everything you need for preparing your own vacation feasts and the beds are very comfortable for a good night’s sleep after a day of exploring all that the Monterey Peninsula has to offer. Fluffy towels and nice bath amenities. Comfortable family room with big TV when you’re ready for some down time. This home has a pretty small outdoor area for sitting or gatherings. So know that it’s not great for outdoor meals, but the dining area that opens to the outside is comfortable for four people. We won’t hesitate to return when we need our next coastal fix.

In general, the place was very cute and a convenient location for walking along the water and a short walk to either downtown Pacific Grove or the aquarium. My wife and I stayed here with my parents and the house was set up well for making dinner and socializing around the dinner table. However, when walking into the house for the first time, there was a strong odor of animal urine and identified multiple large dried areas in both bedrooms that smelled. It’s possible either the previous tenant or the cleaning crew tried to clean the spots but the strong smell was still present when we arrived. We called the rental company, and after an hour or so, the maintenance team member came and cleaned the rugs. With the strong smell of cleaner and opened windows, the urine smell seemed to be gone, but over time as the cleaner smell dissipated a more subtle urine smell persisted close to the spots, but was not as noticeable throughout the rooms and house as before. Ultimately, we liked the house and stay in Pacific Grove, but it was a bit disappointing that this smell was so strong when we arrived and we felt it should have been taken care of better beforehand.

My family stayed at this property for 3 nights. We loved the location - it is close to the Aquarium, Cannery row and the scenic trail is right at the end of the street. The property was clean, fairly bright and had a very usable kitchen (which we needed to help make food for our < 1 yr old baby). We also really appreciated that they had a pack n play that we could use. The upstairs bedroom is spacious and bright. Sanctuary rentals was very clear with providing instructions (before we reached) and also good with providing support (the dishwasher needed minor repair). We really enjoyed our stay here!

This was one of the best vacation rental properties we've ever stayed in. Very suitable for families - included a pack n play for our little guy. Kitchen and bathrooms were well stocked, and the location cannot be beat. The yard and home were well taken care of. The welcome spread was very inviting and set the tone for a wonderful stay!

We were able to spend each day exploring and then "come home" to this adorable house and have dinner together at the table. The kitchen is small but updated and perfect for a family. The porches have enough privacy and still have beautiful views. My son was able to see the ocean while lying down in bed in the mornings. My husband and I took our morning coffee every a.m. down to a bench at the bottom of the hill and just gazed at the ocean and the wildlife going by. The only real issues with the house are the bathrooms. There is one shower which is crazy small and one tub which is large, but has old fixtures. And the king size bed is a futon mattress which is okay for a night or two, but since we stayed for a week, we were quite done with it by the end of the week.

The property manager (Sanctuary Vacations) was excellent. They were very doting and responsive. The house is surrounded by an uncountable number of beautiful flowering trees, shrubs, flowers and plants. These looked wonderful and we often found ourselves admiring them all. The house is a short walk to the sea and to several good, neighborhood restaurants. We'd definitely want to return to this house in the future.

Great location, especially proximity to the ocean

Loved our stay in Pacific Grove! Just a block from the water and the coastal recreation trail! So enjoyed all our walks along that trail...saw so many sea otters! Highly recommend!

You can’t beat the location if you’ve got kids and are visiting Monterey. Every morning we walked down the block to the ocean, and then strolled along the bike path a short way to the aquarium and the shops. This place had the best stocked kitchen I’ve seen in years. Very cute, clean and convenient.

Great attention to details! Wine and cheese waiting for us on check in. Lots of other really lovely touches. The proximity to the walking path along the ocean shore is just perfect.
