Our stay was good the front desk staff friendly and very smart. The spa lacked even though we had to book our own time slot, there were 6 other people in the pools at the same time as us, they all had camera and phones, loud, not addressed by staff not a great pool experience and the spa was one of main reasons we chose that hotel

Very nice and typical hotel for mater built in the mountain. The most beautiful SPA, however they limit entry to 60 minutes per stay. We ate at the restaurant for 2 nights and Dino and staff were absolutely great. Breakfast also was of great quality and service with a good choice of food.

Cave rooms are special..pool area is restricted to adulta so our son was disappointed. Breakfast was good and there are many good restaurants nearby. Keiv tops the list. It's painful to park a but fair, take taxi and come to the hotel but it's worth it.

This is a beautiful property in a fantastic location but it is not a 5star experience 1. Parking- not at all clear when I booked that parking was no where near the hotel - I recognize that the hotel is in the “historic district” but so were all the other hotels we stayed at on this trip. One offered to “register your car for your stay” and then offered valet parking while others offered detailed maps to offsite parking / provided entry codes and parking spots/ and free pick up via golf cart or similar - this hotel offered none of that detail wanted 15euros to pick you up if you used the lot they recommended 2. Spa - beautiful facility - but during the hour we had access as function of our booking “day trippers” were also allowed in and moved in a pack of 4 allowing no access for others as they took selfies and staff aided pictures in the sauna -disappointing 3. Finally grace is in the details and the staff while super pleasant and nice have crearly not been trained in the finer art of customer service / we had an hour access to the spa and were never informed and pro-actively asked to book our time slot as availability is limited. We were apparently a VIP guest and didn’t know that until after our stay Tons of potential but not quite there yet if the aspiration is to be as exceptional as the facilities and location warrant

Nice hotel to stay in the Center of the old town, clean, spacious room in a cave, friendly staff, great cave pool, nice breakfast but no parking or driving into the old town though, have to park outside of old town in an allocated carpark (€25/day) and need to pay €15 /way for transfer service into the hotel, overall still very good experience staying inside the magical old Matera

L’emplacement est idéal, la vue depuis la chambre était tout simplement exceptionnelle, et le personnel a été très accueillant tout au long du séjour. Le petit déjeuner était également délicieux, varié et de très bonne qualité. Cependant, quelques aspects m’ont réellement déçue, surtout pour un établissement classé 5 étoiles. Le matelas était particulièrement inconfortable. J’ai également constaté la présence de moisissures sur les joints de la salle de bain et l’abattant des toilettes était sale, des détails inacceptables à ce niveau de gamme. Le spa, bien que magnifique et très bien aménagé, manquait cruellement d’intimité car il y avait trop de monde en même temps. Cela nuit à l’expérience de détente que l’on attend dans ce type d’espace. Enfin, le massage que j’avais réservé a été une grosse déception. La personne en charge semblait clairement manquer de formation ou d’expérience, et le service proposé était loin d’être à la hauteur des standards d’un hôtel de ce standing. En résumé, un cadre splendide et un accueil chaleureux, mais des prestations qui ne sont pas à la hauteur des cinq étoiles affichées. Dommage.

Beautiful property in the heart of an amazing city. Staff were very helpful and friendly. They made a delicious birthday cake for our son and we had a great evening in the restaurant with excellent food and service. One of our rooms did however smell of damp and the door didn’t lock properly, it is a cave but none of the other rooms were like this, it wasn’t pleasant but they happily moved us to another one. Small details could be improved, bathrobes worn thin and room service trays left in the rooms and only collected when repeatedly asked. Otherwise a gorgeous hotel and a lovely stay.

The hotel is very quiet and clean. The room is spacious but there is no night lights to or in the bathroom, therefore going to the bathroom in the middle of the night is not very safe because there is a step down to the bathroom. The telephone in the room was not in working condition

Amazing hotel built into the surrounding caves. Very conveniently located in the Sassi with many bars and restaurants in the vicinity. Spa experience was well worth it. Only slight reservation was the weak air conditioning which in the height of summer would be more of an issue.

Estava muito animada para essa hospedagem, tanto pelo local quanto pela estrutura do hotel, que é, de fato, linda. Fomos bem atendidos no check-in pela Valentina, que falou português conosco. Mas simplesmente não pudermos dormir porque a temperatura no quarto não baixava de 25°C. O termostato do ar condicionado não funcionava, tivemos que ligar 2x na madrugada para pedir para mexerem, mas só conseguimos melhorar a temperatura após as 5h da manhã. Passamos a noite em claro. Não haviam janelas (trata-se de uma caverna), e a única opção era deixar uma das portas do quarto (que dava pra rua) aberta… ou seja, não era uma opção viável. Foi bem difícil e não houve qualquer solução definitiva ou reparo por parte do hotel. Não ofertaram nos mudar de quarto - inclusive, disseram que nos deram um Upgrade e, no fim, passamos a noite sem dormir por nos sentirmos em um grande forno. Estamos acostumados com calor - somos brasileiros! - mas estava insalubre. Infelizmente, foi decepcionante.

The room was very nice, although we were a little surprised about the open cistern (partially covered by plexi-glass) in the room. I guess that is what it means to be in a cave hotel! The breakfast was great, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was very nice. The room was a little dark, but we were able to open the doors to the outside if we needed more light. Front desk staff was super helpful. Just a comment that there are lots of stairs at this hotel, even if you use the elevator, so people with mobility issues should consider that.

This was a very unique property designed and built as if you were in a Cave. Not as claustrophobic as might imagine, however the room was very warm as we were experiencing a HOT period during our stay. The A/C was not able to keep up with the temperatures which made sleeping difficult! That said, other than that it was an interesting City. I can say I've been there, however once would be enough.

This hotel is one in a million. The teams on the front desk and in the restaurant were just so very professional and welcoming. The breakfast was really delicious, and catered for every different need. We had a lovely room, the pillows were a little hard but the bed was very comfortable. The lighting was ambient and really showed off the uniqueness of the room. In the suite there was no separate place to sit (as would be usual in a suite) so this was disappointing, so when it was warm enough we sat outside which was lovely to watch the beautiful swifts, house martins & swallows busy at work! Be careful of the steps up and down the property, particularly in your room if you are in a suite. It can catch you out if you are half asleep getting to the bathroom. We loved our time in the Spa too, we visited twice. The facilities were everything we needed, we didn't need more although the team there were not as forthcoming and friendly as the teams in the rest of the hotel. The massages we had were very good though. This was by far the best hotel we stayed at during our trip. Matera is wonderful and magical. Staying in this hotel really helped us feel more 'in the zone' and we loved Vito, always there to help when we needed and the reception team were also GREAT! Thank you xx

This hotel needs to urgently train their breakfast staff to understand allergies. My wife had an allergy to egg and was given a pancake that was said to be egg free only to be told later it had egg in. She was not well for two days as a result. Getting breakfast was impossible and staff had no idea . We were constantly told some things were egg free, to find out they were not. The management were excellent with the feedback and gave us a lunch by way of apology which was appreciated. We didn’t ask for anything but we wanted to let them know it’s not good enough. Pool, spa area is really nice. Pillows were really hard and thick. First time in our lives we’ve had to request softer pillows. We couldn’t sleep on them. Not sure I’d stay here again mainly sure to the lack of food and allergy awareness with the waiting staff.

Shuttle was very late from parking pick up despite calling them 30 minutes in advance. Overall I loved this hotel but they can do better in service side.

Para el check out tuvimos que pagar 30.00 euros de un taxi y el estacionamiento ya que el hotel no tiene lugar para poder llegar con maletas. De muy mal trato la recepción. A unique hotel and well worth visiting. Being in our 80’s was difficult managing the 40 odd steps to our room. Service was excellent in the dining room. Cannot say the same for reception…not at all warm and welcoming. Two nights is plenty of time for a visit.

We absolutely loved everything about our stay - the beautiful rooms, the stunning spa, the delicious and generous breakfast, and the spectacular surrounds. We felt totally spoilt for our stay. We parked about a 5-10 minute walk from the hotel, in a parking building (€1 per hour), which was handy enough to the hotel. Highly recommend!

La chambre troglodyte est très spacieuse et exceptionnelle. La décoration est très épurée et très design, j’adore La salle de bain est aussi très spacieuse et très bien équipée malgré le sèche cheveux dont l’embout ne tient pas et le distributeur de gel douche vide . Les petits déjeuners sont copieux et excellents mais le dîner au restaurant le soir est à éviter . Sinon c’est une expérience inoubliable et je recommande cet hôtel .

This hotel was absolutely gorgeous. The staff were overly friendly, which made this stay even better. They cater to your every need. The room was extremely clean 60 minutes in the spa was also included which has a Turkish steam room sauna and pool. The breakfast was absolutely superb!
