The Village Boutique and SPA earns praise for its charming design, leafy pool areas and spa, and a calm Naxxar setting with helpful staff, though reviews note small pool spaces, added spa fees or limited hours, and scarce nearby dining.

Both pool areas are beautiful, room is spacious and stocked with coffee and tea, toiletries etc. Room was clean with water on arrival. The hotel is in a lovely peaceful area, and a short walk to Naxxar centre which has some nice cafes and restaurants, and good bus access to other parts of Malta. A few finer details could be improved to make this hotel perfect. We arrived around midday, and didn’t expect to be able to get into the room any earlier - we were advised that on arrival which is fair. We had a drink and some food then went back to reception at 3pm, to be told the room wasn’t ready and to go back in 15 minutes. We could see the room we’d been allocated from the pool area where we waited, and saw a cleaner go in just after 3pm and clean the room. Not the end of the world, but the room should really have been ready for 3pm. We were also told we couldn’t eat haribo by the pool as it was outside food. I understand not drinking or eating meals from outside as the hotel sells these, but the hotel doesn’t sell sweets so it felt a little unreasonable to be asked to put them away, especially since we were buying drinks from the bar anyway. There was maintenance ongoing round the pool everyday. perhaps this could be done later once the pool is closed to maintain a relaxing environment during the day. We had to go to the spa to get towels, maybe have a few by the outdoor pool to avoid this. We generally had a lovely stay and these are only minor areas for improvement.

Stayed 3 nights

I had a negative experience on the first day of my stay, but the rest of the stay was brilliant. The reception staff rushed through the check-in process and did not inform me about the pool and gym opening hours, so I missed my chance to exercise on the first day. When I later asked both the reception staff and the staff in the gym/pool area, I received conflicting information about the closing time, with a discrepancy of two hours. There were also quite a few grammar and spelling mistakes on the half-board menu, which led to some confusion when my order arrived. Some examples included “chocie” instead of “choice” and “leif” instead of “leaf”. The menu honestly needs to be completely rewritten and properly proofread for grammar and clarity, as it was generally quite difficult to read through. Unfortunately, I also had the chewiest steak I have ever eaten — it was difficult to bite through properly. On top of that, the waiter did not ask whether I wanted fries or roast potatoes and simply assumed I wanted fries, which I actually did not want. As a result, I ended up with a disappointing steak and nothing suitable on the side, which is not what I would expect from a 5-star hotel service. However, all of the seafood options, starters, and the breakfast buffet were delicious. On the positive side, the outdoor pool is beautifully maintained, with lovely flowers and relaxing music, while the indoor pool is excellent for swimming. Despite a few issues, I would still happily come

Stayed 2 nights

I stayed in Room 306 next door to the jacuzzi. Quiet area. A couple of points re my room - the full length mirror is in such a position next to the bed that you can’t actually use it because the bedside unit blocks it. The bath has no nonslip mat or hand rails and on several occasions nearly came a cropper! Additionally the marble step down from the bathroom into the bedroom should have some grip strips too. The courtyard/pool area is lovely and well maintained. During my stay, a bar snack order took over 40 minutes to arrive. There was a bar man on duty and one server. At busy times - lunch - more staff are needed to be on duty. I ordered focaccia but that was not what turned up. I didn’t argue after waiting for so long. However the pasta pomodoro I had the following day was excellent. I think this is a bit of a hidden gem and would stay here again. 5 minute walk to Naxxar centre.
