From the moment you walk into the Bentley you are treated with courtesy and respect. This is the second time we stay, first time was for my daughter's wedding, and this stay was just as wonderful. Management, Martha, Robyn, and all the staff, including Debra, Gretchel, Hercules, Tommy ( cleaning and maintenance crew) went out of their way to be helpful and make our stay unforgettable. It is not only place to learn a little history through their displays but also a great place to take memorable photos. It's within walking distance of a great family owned restauarant called Sentry Grill. Another place you can go and feel like you are among family. The beds in the Bentley are comfortable and though it is a very old hotel, the rooms are renovated and have modern amenities. There is a small workout room, and a lovely library that can serve as a conference room, or simply a place to sit back and sip on freshly brewed coffee. From the bottom of my heart, I give The Bentley, 10 stars!

The property was elegant and clean. The night staff was friendly helpful, and professional. The morning checkout staff was not friendly or amicable. I was disappointed that the property did not have onsite parking. The parking available was street parking or in the city parking lots.

The lobby is beautiful. Brunch at restaurant was great. The Mirror room bar was fun, although short staffed. The rooms/hallways are in dire need of an update. It was clean, just old with some rust, etc around door in bathroom. Also there is no valet or bellman, which i normally don’t use but with my elderly mom who uses a walker, would have. There are a lot of steps at the front entrance so the place where i unloaded her & luggage (bottom level near restaurant) was a gross & scary area. It was old, deserted, with no signage where to go to check in. Seemed like a great place for homeless to be lurking or hanging out. They really should have a bellman there to escort you & let u know you’re in the right place.

to enter hotel lobby Had to carry heavy luggage up many marble steps. Check in clerk playing on iphone. No parking lot or garage available. Try your luck at parking on the street. Very dangerous at night. No housekeeping service after hours or on weekend. Had to request additional towels and then pick them up at the front desk. Walls are PAPER THIN!! Very noisy @ 3AM.

Definitely need to improve the gym accommodations. 3 pieces of cardio equipment and a coke/ snack machine are not a gym. I love the historic building and the beds were comfortable. Staff was very nice. I would stay there again.

Beautiful hotel that captures the beauty of an era long gone. The architecture has been maintained beautifully. Not a good hotel for people with mobility issues because you will have to take some stairs to enter and exit. Also, no safe parking. Only on street parking or riverfront parking. Good luck if there is an event. Also, they have a valet entrance but no notices that valet not available anymore. A sign would be nice.

Parking with ready access to the hotel was an issue, especially considering the cold, rainy weather. I could not find a way around using steps into the hotel, which was difficult with luggage. However, the hotel was beautiful - particularly the lobby - and felt like a step back in time.

The room was very clean, but there was nothing to tell us where to check in and where the elevators were. The view out our window of our room was depressing, torn window curtains in other parts of the building shown. The main area and various party rooms were great, though, and the food was very good.

This is a BEAUTIFUL historic hotel. The price was great! However, the halls are dim, the walls are thin, carpet needs cleaning, and the paint needs refreshing. We stayed on a holiday weekend. Maybe it’s better during regular business hours, but it almost seemed too quiet… a bit abandoned (in general, even with our rowdy neighbors). The place has so much potential. The air conditioner is ice cold in the room, and the bed is very comfortable. Unfortunately, we could hear our neighbor’s tv blaring and they had a very large dog that barked every few hours throughout the night. The carpet had “spills” here and there and our bedspread had something black on it. The bathroom seemed very clean. It’s downtown Alexandria. I’d recommend pepper spray and keeping with a group even in the hotel. My hope in writing this review is that someone will make the necessary changes to create a welcoming and comfortable environment for guests. My recommendations from a guests POV: 1. Safety: Outside doors need to be key access entry only. 2. Comfort: Workers should be stationed at each door to greet the guests. 3. Comfort: And it would be a good idea to space out the guests in the rooms since the walls are so thin. This place has so much untapped potential!! Hopefully, it was an off weekend and it’s not usually like this. Future guests, your experience may be better than mine!

Left out early in the morning and placed the sign on the door for room to be tended to. When I got back late at night it was not touched. The A/C was so long when it turned on that woke me up all night long. Rooms are not sound proof as advertised, carpet is old and outdated, Bathroom tile had a loose tile that was just seated there. Ceiling above tub/shower had the paper pulled from the Sheetrock.

Yes this is an older hotel i know but being a native of Alexandria i gave it a try, its horrible the carpet is full of stains, plug ins line the hallway for a pleasant smell, once you are in the room it smells of mildew our carpet was stained (room316) my 1st night our heater did not work, 2nd night we were moved to room 318 and the water smell was worse we decided to stick it out since we only had 1 more night and would only be there to sleep and shower. 3rd night toilet backed up. I can’t believe that this is how you maintain a historic landmark. At check out the desk person was nursing het baby like how unprofessional is that. The night person Angel did not know anything about the hotel and could not tell us when the place was renovated last. She was like i don’t know. Oh bed spread on night one was stayed with what looks like crayola it was a mess my advice stick to the chain hotels, this was a definite miss for me this thanksgiving week.

Super quiet. Nice hotel with restaurant. Staff is sometimes hard to find as they leave the desk. Parking was the only thing I didn’t like, but they do have parking available across the street in the back, but there is a homeless population in the area. If you’re alone and it’s late at night, it feels pretty desolate.

This is an older, historic hotel in a bad area of town. Homeless live in the surrounding streets. We never had a problem with them, but it’s good to know. Room was large, ours had no view. Some may have views on one side. Shower curtain was to small. Limited dining options close to hotel.

First the positives. Lobby was beautiful, rooms were large and bathrooms updated. On the other hand, rooms were tired, carpet was worn/stained, heat was mediocre, there was a musty smell (and someone had forgotten to clean out the mini-fridge) and the beds sagged. I wanted to like this more for the historical aspect but this was more on "rundown" side than "faded grandeur." I would not not recommend it but I would tone down your expectations.

Rooms are large but poorly finished. Bathtubs and floors there in are dangerous for adults. Heat loud. The restaurant and bar were the redeeming features of the property. Food was excellent with lots of great choices. Bar was a fun place and the bartender most excellent. Unfortunately there are absolutely no breakfast options.

I had requested an upstairs, corner room and that is exactly what we got!!! The room was quiet an off to itself with beautiful view of the river❤️. The staff, as always, were very accommodating an went out of their way to make our stay a perfect getaway❤️

Super quiet. Nice hotel with restaurant. Staff is sometimes hard to find as they leave the desk. Parking was the only thing I didn’t like, but they do have parking available across the street in the back, but there is a homeless population in the area. If you’re alone and it’s late at night, it feels pretty desolate.

From the moment you walk into the Bentley you are treated with courtesy and respect. This is the second time we stay, first time was for my daughter's wedding, and this stay was just as wonderful. Management, Martha, Robyn, and all the staff, including Debra, Gretchel, Hercules, Tommy ( cleaning and maintenance crew) went out of their way to be helpful and make our stay unforgettable. It is not only place to learn a little history through their displays but also a great place to take memorable photos. It's within walking distance of a great family owned restauarant called Sentry Grill. Another place you can go and feel like you are among family. The beds in the Bentley are comfortable and though it is a very old hotel, the rooms are renovated and have modern amenities. There is a small workout room, and a lovely library that can serve as a conference room, or simply a place to sit back and sip on freshly brewed coffee. From the bottom of my heart, I give The Bentley, 10 stars!

Check in time is 3PM. I arrived at 4PM and my room was not clean and there was no eta on when it would be done. I travelled from Dallas for a wedding and was instructed that my only option was to get dressed in the restroom. After the wedding I returned to the hotel (9:30PM) for a late check in. Overall my stay was fair but I won’t ever stay there again. Management has yet to return my call and it’s been well over a week.

This is a gorgeous hotel. They even have a house dog/mascot. The only downside was the night receptionist who checked me in. He was oddly, uncharacteristically cold/rude.

I was fascinated by the beautiful and historic structure. It is a shame that Alexandria is in such poor shape. Makes me wonder what the city would have been like in its prime. The hotel was comfortable and very beautiful. The front desk service was not consistent.

Hotel Bentley is our go to hotel whenever we are in the Alexandria area. This time around the room given was handicap accessible when I pre-requested non-handicapp. The shower was challenging to use as water came out onto the floor. Front desk immediately brough replacement towels plus extra to cover the floor so shower can be taken. Hotel was full therefore no other room to transfer. There was no cold water from faucet or toilet. Toilet stayed hot hot and this was uncomfortable. But the customer service was perfect!

There was a wedding in the lobby when we arrived and the path to the registration desk went right through it. We spent a long time walking around outside trying to find a way to not disrupt the event. No signage whatsoever. It seems they just ignored the hotel guests’ needs in favor of the event. Staffing was bare bones. Every time we needed the front desk we found ourselves waiting for them to come back from whatever other jobs they were trying to do. It’s a shame. It’s a beautiful old hotel.

This is an older, historic hotel in a bad area of town. Homeless live in the surrounding streets. We never had a problem with them, but it’s good to know. Room was large, ours had no view. Some may have views on one side. Shower curtain was to small. Limited dining options close to hotel.

This was a beautiful hotel. The staff were friendly and the hotel was clean and inviting. I loved the small museum area. The room was clean and bed was comfy. There's not a lot within walking distance but everything is a quick drive away. I would stay here again.

The lobby is absolutely beautiful with tons of classic charm, the hallways felt a little bit dirty and less kept up. The room was fine and basically as advertised the area was very sleepy and there wasn’t much open on walking distance at around 7pm.

The lobby is beautiful. Brunch at restaurant was great. The Mirror room bar was fun, although short staffed. The rooms/hallways are in dire need of an update. It was clean, just old with some rust, etc around door in bathroom. Also there is no valet or bellman, which i normally don’t use but with my elderly mom who uses a walker, would have. There are a lot of steps at the front entrance so the place where i unloaded her & luggage (bottom level near restaurant) was a gross & scary area. It was old, deserted, with no signage where to go to check in. Seemed like a great place for homeless to be lurking or hanging out. They really should have a bellman there to escort you & let u know you’re in the right place.

Rooms are large but poorly finished. Bathtubs and floors there in are dangerous for adults. Heat loud. The restaurant and bar were the redeeming features of the property. Food was excellent with lots of great choices. Bar was a fun place and the bartender most excellent. Unfortunately there are absolutely no breakfast options.

What a gorgeous lobby! Fantastic hotel! Very nice room. Very comfortable. Great pillows. The restaurant came highly praised by locals. I ordered a burger. Perhaps they thought they "blackened" the patty. It was burned. It was supposed to be with Dr. Pepper BBQ sauce. Couldn't taste that at all. Very nice wait staff.

The facility is immaculate and grand built years ago and stands the test of time. The price is very fare for this place. I highly recommend. I think you will enjoy and I humbly rate this a 5 star!
