Very disappointing customer service – refund promise was later withdrawn We had an issue with our room during our stay, so I raised the matter with the hotel staff before checking out and requested a partial refund. At that time, the hotel staff acknowledged the issue and told me that the refund would be processed after I returned to my home country and contacted the hotel regarding the refund. However, after I returned and contacted the hotel as instructed, the hotel suddenly refused to provide the refund. What is even more disappointing is that the hotel did not provide any clear explanation for changing their position. When I contacted Hotels.com, I was simply informed that the hotel had refused the refund, without any explanation or further clarification from the hotel. I chose Halekulani Okinawa expecting the high level of hospitality and customer service associated with a luxury five-star hotel. Unfortunately, the way this issue was handled was extremely disappointing. If the hotel had initially told me that a refund was not possible, I would have accepted that and understood the situation differently. What I find unacceptable is being told that a refund would be provided, following the hotel's instructions to contact them after returning home, and then having that promise withdrawn without any reasonable explanation. This experience has seriously damaged my trust in the hotel's customer service.
