Hotel Lumberjack - Sonora

Convenient location- within walking to lots of shops and restaurants. Downside was parking at night- lot was full and not much close street parking

Lack of a good wifi connection

Check-in was across the street at another hotel. not mine. There were NO ice machines on either property. We Had to go to the front text at another hotel next door to get ice handed to you. There wasn’t a pool. We had to Share a pool and it only had just 2 lounge chairs for the entire guest at BOTH hotels. There wasn’t enough parking and the spaces were tiny so much do our SUV wouldn’t fit. Very disappointed.

The property was nice and close to many shops and restaurants. The Pool is next door on the 2nd or 3rd floor.

Lumberjack is part of the Sonora Inn so you have use of it as well, which is a cool place. It has lots of local character.

Parking was full when we returned back to room after concert and had to park across the highway at bank parking lot.

The staff was great and the decor was good for a motel, but the front desk is in an adjacent hotel and had it not been for a kindly guest who was willing to share its location, we'd still be standing there looking bewildered. The blankets were as thin as sheets. But the continental breakfast was generous, the heat was good, the place was clean, and it's a very good location. All in all a good value for the price paid.

The front door of the hotel is on the main street. Plenty of restaurants and small stores within a 5 minute walk. The hotel was built more than 100 years ago in an old mining town. The design is quite interesting. The staff is awesome. The outdoor ice machines were broken. I had to go to the front desk for ice. The people at the front desk offered to deliver more ice. I prefer drinking out of a glass over a can or plastic cup. I asked the front desk if they had glasses. The lady at the front desk found some glasses from days gone by. She even washed the glasses before she gave them to me. This is a great place to stay. The location, service and price excellent. Hotel Lumberjack is part of the Sonora Inn. I imagine the Sonora Hotel bought the Lumberjack Inn and changed the names around.

Internet connection was terrible and we ended up using our phones as a hot-spot. Upstairs guest paced and sang and stomped their feet until the wee hours so sleep was fitful. Bed was comfortable. Location was great.

Parking lot is small and congested. Tv streaming, casting service did not work well, room was cramped with too much unnecessary furniture, soap dispensers were empty, swimming pool, office, other amenities were across the street in a different hotel. Good location downtown and walking distance to restaurants.

The renovation was wonderful but it’s not being kept up. Our sink wouldn’t drain. My water bottle leaked so I wiped up the water on the floor and the washcloth came up black! The guest next to me at check-in was admitted to their room and another clerk waited on me and made me wait one hour to check in when my room was ready. It was 100 degrees out and we had no where to go. She was very rude. The street between the 2 properties smelled badly of garbage.

Exceeded my expectations. Recently updated, very clean, comfortable, and quiet with great front desk staff.

My partner and I walked across the street to check in (not an issue). When we entered our room it had a mild mildew stench, I was not too worried about it. But, then my partner saw our comforter on our bed and it had stains. I mentioned that it's just stains but as we looked closer it was greasy like someone had recently just ate over our bed. I called the hotel to get a new comforter and they said that housekeeping lives 30 minutes away and I let them know to just drop off a new comforter and we could put it on our bed so that housekeeping does not have to drive all the way over just to change bedding... The lady did say she could take some money off of the bill but I said not to worry about it. Our sleep was horrible; from 2am-4:30am it sounded like a frat party next to our room. We did not think to call the hotel to report but we sure do regret not agreeing to a cheaper bill. Small inconveniences: TV remote hiding in a pamphlet on the night stand, drying rag found above the toilet and not anywhere near the sink, and parking was bad but cannot do anything about that. Anyway, would I recommend, yes hahah because every other hotel I have stayed in Sonora was 10x worse. IF we had a good nights rest I would give it a 7/10, but definitely a 4/10 because of a horrible sleep.

Hotel is super clean. Beds are very comfortable. Location is great right in the heart of Sonora.

The floor could use more cleaning. It was visibly dirty and looked like it was not mopped at all.

Check in was great. The room was clean. However- the room smelled HORRIBLE. I was traveling with my kids. And we had to leave to try to air out the room for 3 hours- and it still was just awful.

Room was a bit dirty - scraps of toilet paper in the bathroom floor, (dry) blood stains on the bed sheets. The staff were responsive though and took this seriously. The rooms are quite small - the “suite” was still smaller than a typical hotel room. The place did have modern and fairly nice furnishings and decor. It looks like it was renovated fairly recently. They did provide full-size soap etc bottles in the bathroom, which is nice (increasingly common, but still worth highlighting). Breakfast was terrible - basically Froot Loops, Wonder White, and bad coffee.

The staff was corteous and helpful. The room’s floor were not as clean, including mold in the bathroom corners. There were also planks in the room that needed to be reattached. We could hear all the noise from the room above that had kids running all the time. They also forgot to do the cleaning of the room even when it was requested.

The hotel looks very plain from the outside and doesn't have any fancy amenities. However, it's obvious they made a major renovation to the rooms in recent times. Here's a list of the aspects we loved about it: * Although the rooms are relatively small, they are efficiently laid out * There's a long bench along the wall next to the foot of the bed that's perfect for laying out luggage or personal items * There are outlets and USB ports seemingly everywhere * The lights above the nightstands will tilt to point in pretty much any direction * The door that separates the toilet area from the sink is a sliding door which is more space efficient than a hinged door * There's an HDMI connection that runs to the TV, in case you want to watch movies or play video games from your computer * The TV is mounted on the wall, eliminating the need for a space occupying console or stand Everything else was good. Clean, quiet and convenient location, friendly staff, decent breakfast, good water pressure in the shower, etc.

This hotel was great, exactly what it looks like in the pictures, the rooms are very small, but extremely clean and comfortable. Front Desk staff is very kind and knowledgeable about the area. Would definitely stay again and recommend!

The room had thin walls so i can hear next door neighbors tv and conversation. We had a first floor room and can easily hear upstair neighbors footsteps. These issues made sleeping in the evening difficult.

The rooms are newly renovated and look great. Unfortunately, the noise level is awful. We were there 2 nights, never slept. The room/s above us walked loudly, all night, both nights. The walkway upstairs is also extremely loud, you can hear every step. The bathroom is nice, but doesn't have a real door. There's a barndoor, that doesn't have a lock, and doesn't close completely. Also, there isn't enough parking, so you might need to park across the street, at the bank.

Was just ok for the time we were there. The only reason we stayed there was they allowed dogs and I have an emotional support dog. We were there for wine pick up at Ironstone winery. The bed was lumpy and very tight quarters for two of us and a very small dog. For allowing dogs they don’t provide a place for them to relive themselves. It was close to town which was nice to be able to walk to restaurants. Don’t think we’ll return to the area anytime soon.

Rooms appear to be recently renovated, but there was very little walk around room. Room had a musty smell, seems to be from the a/c unit, but at 98°, we weren't going to shut it off, nor did we want any perfumy air freshener sprayed either, so we dealt with it. Shower was roomy, but sink drained extremely slow, so any suds or shaving cream residue really settled even with repeated rinsing. Check in is not on this property, but across an alley at Sonoran Inn, where the breakfast offerings were as well. Not a terrible inconvenience, just unusual. TV had lots of channels available.

Pros: Great location near Sonora downtown. Remodeled rooms with a modern touch. Friendly staff. Cons: We got no rest. Very old building with tiny rooms and paper thin walls; you can hear everything going on in other rooms (kids yelling, pets barking/whining, seks, etc). Caved in jello mattresses are very uncomfortable.

Great hotel for an overnight business trip. Check in was easy and the gentleman that checked me in was informative and very personable!

Love this hotel and have stayed here many times, most of the staff is wonderful and very helpful. However on my last trip it was clear there is some staff in need of training in customer service and professionalism. They were extremely rude when I tried checking in at 2:30 (check in is at 4) thinking our room may already be ready. They would not take any of my information or check on rooms for me. When I came back 30 minutes later there were 3 people in front of me in line that they were checking in.

Great customer service. Desk Clerk was friendly and informative. Rooms are clean and comfortable. We did have someone above us that decided to bowl at 6am, and woke us all up, but other than that it was a great stay and I would stay again on my next visit, just probably would request a second level room.

The front desk was unprofessional and made many excuses for why they did not know how to work their own reservation system.

We checked in, and they gave us room 257. We walk back over to Hotel Lumberjack (check in and reception is actually at a different hotel across the street), go up to the room, and open the door to find wires hanging out of the ceiling, dirty bootprints on the bed, tools, and electrical debris. Someone left in the middle of doing work on the room. I call the lobby, and the woman at the desk apologizes and gets us a room downstairs, room 157. She walks us down, and the bathroom wasn’t cleaned and there’s a sign inside saying the tv is out of order. She apologizes again and takes us to room 153. In 153, the AC is broken and they’ve put a box fan on a chair - on a 97F day. She apologizes again and says they’re out of rooms. They can refund me or give me a discount. I wanted out. This place is awful. All 3 of those incidents in one day? That’s not one error, that is clear indication of mismanagement and a hotel in disarray. Do yourself a favor and do not stay here, or at their parent property, the Sonora Inn.

Staff Service was good, but there was one person working a weekend where it would be busy. The poor guy was literally running all over the place.

Conveniently located in downtown Sonora. Walking distance to almost about anywhere. Hotel offered a nice, simple warm breakfast. Rooms were nicely decorated. Bed was comfortable. Only downside of our room is that we were located right next to the smoking area. It wasn't horrible as not too much smoke came inside our room.

We loved being right downtown so that walking to shopping and dining was a piece of cake! Also, our room was very clean, had everything we needed, and we enjoyed hearing the creek out our back window.

Great stay. The location of this hotel is perfect. It's right in downtown Sonora amongst all the shops and restaurants. They rooms are nicely decorated in that modern rustic theme. They had a great continental breakfast and are also dog friendly. I would definitely come back.

Front desk staff were great Cleaning staff were great The sheets on the bed are thin, flimsy and cheap The fitted sheet wouldn’t stay on because of the mattress pad underneath it. It just kept slipping off as soon as you sat on the bed. Luckily, the housekeeping staff were super helpful and they replaced our sheets with some older thicker, better quality sheets, which were fantastic!! Kudos to the housekeeping team!! They also gave us an extra blanket as there was only one thin blanket, and one top sheet, which was just not enough! The extra blanket helped tremendously! Parking was great and easy The lighting iaround the rooms on the outside of the building was so bright that even the blackout shades couldn’t fully darken the room, which was tricky! Also, because I booked it through hotels.com They gave us the room right next to the ice machine, which is of course the high traffic area somewhat noisy! The rooms are clean and modern shower was great. The bed was comfy. Just wished it spent a little bit more effort on quality for the sheets, etc. Overall, pretty good stay great location downtown Sonora, close to all the restaurants and bars, etc.

Great stopping point prior to hitting the Tioga Pass in Yosimite. Staff was friendly, easy parking, and multiple dining and entertainment areas within walking distance. My wife and I loved it.

The hotel room was great – very comfortable and clean. The staff was welcoming and friendly, and the breakfast was generous and tasty, especially the waffles, which were delicious! Breakfast was served a bit early for vacationers who enjoy sleeping in, but everything else was truly excellent. The town itself was also wonderful. All in all, a perfect stay!

Area was nice. What i didnt care dor was not enough parking spaces, floorboard in my room was coming off i tripped over it, and air filter was dirty, and not cleaned. Had dispenser for shampoo and conditioner, but was empty, and atea they had in the room to charge cell/tablets did not work. The front desk employee was very nice at check-in,and chech out. One more thing the breakfast was good, but coffee was bad.

I would stay here again. It was clean and looked like it had been updated so it was modern and comfortable. The AC worked really well which I appreciated since it was hot outside. The one thing that was disappointing was the continental breakfast. The room had a heater blowing and it was EXTREMLY uncomfortable to be in there and there wasn't really anything but a waffle machine and some packaged muffins, cereal and oranges to eat. We had to go find somewhere to eat and found a bagel shop close but the food there was horrible. Other guests did the same thing we did, through the bagel breakfast sandwich away. There really is not anywhere, on a Sunday at least to get a good breakfast but lunch and dinner has more options close.

It was a good stay, ok for the price. Breakfast quite limited but room was nice and tidy looking.

This is an adorable modern motel. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly. We had breakfast there one morning and it was good for an extended continental spread. I would definitely stay here again.

Checkin was easy and the staff were outstanding. Now for the bad the Breakfast was bad, very limited items , items missing or out of stock.

We love the layout and features of the room and the hotel is in a great location. The only two complaints we had on this trip were: 1) Last time you could tip by a QR code on a card in the room. That option is no longer available and we had to use cash 2) On our first morning at breakfast (5/26) the lady in charge of cleaning up the breakfast room wasn't cleaning the tables when they were dirty. In fact, she sometimes just sat down even though there were dirty tables.

We really enjoy the spacious, clean and modern remodel rooms. They have a good continental breakfast, however, breakfast was served across the street at the Sonora Inn. The restaurants and shops was located within walking distance. We highly recommend this hotel.
