Basswood Resort

Had an amazing time at the property. Took my family . Five of us got comfortable in the deluxe cabin. My kids loved all the scheduled activities. From gem mining to fishing, and all the activities at the pool; we were a busy family . Loved gathering around the campfire. The country store had everything you could need🔥. All the materials for smores easy to access. The kids are already asking when they can visit again but next time want to rent a golf cart for the light parade. Ty to all the staff that made our family weekend memorable.

Outstanding for the price point. Our jacuzzi suite was only $60 for the night. Room was enormous and comfortable. It ain't the Bellagio, but it's nice enough and clean. Not the easiest to navigate at night - we weren't sure where to go. They left our room key (actual key) in an envelope at the little store, which is also the front desk and the pizzeria. It was closed by the time we got there. It's also super dark and creepy driving to this place at night. It's literally in the middle of nowhere. In the morning, there are tons of things that are fun to do on property - axe throwing, bounce pillow, shuffleboard, tether ball, cornhole, etc This place is a million times better than any other hotel we would have booked for a similar price. I would rather stay here than a Hampton inn or something like that which would be twice the price. Highly recommend

Nice cabin for a campground. Tons to do with families. Not many options for dining, so bring your own. But the pizza shop is amazing!

We enjoyed our stay at Basswood resort. We stayed in a deluxe 8 person cabin. The cabin wasn’t the cleanest, but it wasn’t horrible. There were crumbs and food wrappers in the pull out couch bed (Not ours. Ew!) and some of the “clean” dishes in the cabinet had a greasy film on them. Be careful about leaving crumbs anywhere in the cabin because the ants were plentiful. The A/C in the cabin worked great though which was so helpful when staying in mid July! Also, given the proximity to the airport, there are loud airplanes that fly over frequently. Overall, we had so much fun during our time and would stay here again. It would be nice if the pool were a bit larger or if they had a second one? Lots of people wanting to use a small pool is kind of annoying when it’s too hot to do anything else outside. 👍

Everyday the bath/wash was cleaned. Once in a week, the outside trash got full. Tons of stuff to do young or old.

Quiet relaxing, place, to stay. Dog friendly. Lots of trails around the ponds to walk around. Room was clean and very spacious. Enjoyed our personal patio with fire pit overlooking the pond.

Basswood is a very family friendly resort with so many activities. The staff is attentive and friendly. The general store is perfect for those needing supplies. Their pizza shop makes delicious food. We enjoyed our stay so much, we booked for next year and are going to stay longer!

Cabin was nice. Clean. Equipped. Service was friendly. I was called to be informed to bring my own bedding. Did have issues with the pipes freezing but maintenance corrected the issues fast. Great walking areas. My pup loved the open space.

We absolutely love how affordable and family friendly Basswood Resort is. They have fun activities everyday for all ages, among there many fishing ponds, swimming pool, playgrounds, dog park, nature trails and so on. We will be making yearly trips here😀

Jacuzzi room was very substandard. Not what we were expectjng for the price. Bugs galore..dead and alive. Mushy Dorito chip from some previous guest.Torn, dirty, stained carpet. Worn bedside tables, the single chair was broke down. Plug-ins were loose (not enough for us seniors with Cpaps) and no USB ports. Deadbolt on door didn't even work. No maid service, so ask for more towels. Staff was very understanding, but nothing they could do about it.

Extremely dirty. Flees in one of the rooms beds. Have attempted for months to get a call back for some sort of compensation with no return call. We stayed in the cabin suite, dirty dirty floors, rough towels, hair in shower drain, sheets had stains.

Had never seen bed bugs until this stay in cabin with bunk bed and futon. Wife ended up sleeping on the futon and woke up to her hand and arm swollen and bit about 10-12 times. Found a reddish brown bug crawling in bedding. Google image says it’s a bed bug and it was very large. We had to spend a lot of time and money getting our belongings washed properly and threw away some blankets and pillows. The fireplaces are broken, the sink leaks, the shower had no hot water, the porch had no bulb and was not fixed. The doors and windows are broken or screwed shut with no screens. Mini fridge was very warm and threw out milk and some food. Dust, filth, vomit on door, heater stinks so bad we couldn’t run it, mice. Wife spent most of our stay cleaning and disinfecting. We stayed three days in a smaller cabin and upgraded to an 8 person cabin for a long term stay.

One of the sinks in the room was dirty and there was grass and crumbs in the bed. I did like the trails around the property. They were shady and easy to navigate.

Our room had bed bugs and we couldn't stay in the room. This is a horrible experience.

Love the quiet location but the room was dirty. Bathroom smelled of urine and the hot tub was full of hair and not cleaned. We booked for the hot tub and could not use it because it had not been cleaned.

Overall pleasant experience. Staff was super friendly and accommodating and the property was quiet. The property was what you’d expect from a cabin on a lake, dated but cozy - no complaints as far as “updating amenities” like others have mentioned as I expected it to be rustic. The beds were more comfortable than expected so my only dig on comfort was the futon. We didn’t use it for sleeping but even for sitting, it was rough (lol) could definitely use a new futon mattress; I don’t know a human could sleep on it comfortably. My only genuine complaint was the cleanliness. It was very dirty on arrival and appeared as though the cleaning staff had only done a quick wipe down immediately before arrival like it was a hot swap of tenants but the tip envelope said they cleaned it several days prior to arrival. Not filthy enough to warrant a Karen complaint to management, but definitely not cleaned well. Showers were hot and the little store on site was nice with a friendly staff. Overall a pleasant experience, just needs a more attentive cleaning staff to get this a “5 Star” rating in my opinion. Would recommend for anyone coming through, at least for the experience.

We've stayed here multiple times this year. It's a nice change from the average hotel room. However, it's pretty dated and run-down. The rooms could use some updating and deep cleaning. For my most recent stay, the room had clearly not been vacuumed. The deck outside the room is nice but our gas firepit was broken.

The cabin had damaged flooring and the floor, especially in the bathroom, was dirty. Otherwise, cleanliness was good. The shower in the cabin is tiny so easier to use the showers in the bathhouse, which is a nice bathhouse. No yard or view with the cabin which was disappointing. Cabins and RV lots are very close together so little privacy as it's densely packed. The resort did seem like a good place for families with children. Service was very friendly. Location was good for our needs.

Especially enjoy the fire pit/patio area…& the jacuzzi in the suite…& the 50” tv with such an extensive viewing selection! (Unfortunately the mattress was overly soft & lumpy as well…) Always appreciate the in room coffee, microwave & refrigerator…

We stayed in a jacuzzi suite. The room was older but clean. The jacuzzi jets didn’t work great. We were there for an anniversary getaway and really loved relaxing by the gas fire pit overlooking the lake. We will return if in the area again.

The room was huge and the bed was comfortable. It was a clean and convenient place to stay. The bathroom fan was noisy and the fixtures were old.

Great find in North KC area. The place is quiet and the staff are awesome. We booked a 500 square foot lake-view suite with a jetted tub and a gas fire ring on our own patio/deck just outside the door. The accommodations are just a "touch of rustic", with trees surrounding the buildings and providing shade over the deck. There are several lakes in the campground area and we saw some people fishing them. The pizza shop is great with pizza and other foods freshly prepared from scratch, and ready in about 30 minutes. We thought we\'d visit the city while in the area, but never felt compelled to leave the grounds. There were two drawbacks in our unit. One was the fact that the fitted sheet didn\'t fit and it kept creeping up all throughout the night, exposing the vinyl mattress cover. The second issue being that the jetted tub didn\'t "jet". Obviously, some investment could be made in the suite areas. This is definitely not a first class hotel room, but the suite has way more creature comforts than an RV. And, like I said, it\'s very quiet.

I reserved the Truman suite. The house has been converted into multiple suites. And is on the hill over looking one of the lakes and campground. Giving a nice morning view of the surrounding area. There is a store on site that has pizza delivery! As well as provisions and basic repair items for campers and RVs. Area is secluded and nicely wooded. The AC and heat work wonderfully, the TV had all the apps to use, and had a good selection of channels. An actual useable kitchen was nice.The suite which was as large as advertised had more than enough room for everyone. The furniture was soft and comfy. My few complaints. The floors in the kitchen had spots that were sticky. and some of the walls had drip stains on them. Carpet in the bathrooms leading all the way up to the jacuzzis in both rooms. This has nothing to do with the resort itself, after the store closes there is no staff that I am aware of, the group staying in another suite in the house, had a loud party until about 2 in the morning. Their trucks running and music blaring. Motorcycles coming and going and just loud chatter, and even heard a couple children crying... At 2 am. I had to open a window in the bedroom and ask them to quiet down, or would have to call the cops. Some of them were not happy. But did oblige and a few of the extra cars left.

Shower was in bad shape with screws on the inside of the shower wall rusty . Yrs before probably had caulk on them . I was on a business trip . Advertising said wifi but it would work on anything but the TV . No cell signal so no communication with family or work . For a no data trip unplugged i am sure it would be great . Beautiful facilities. My cabin was run down except new toulet and sink . Windows had no cover except thing fabrics and there are other ppl feet away . Door was nit very swcure but i travel with amny hotle door alarms and ect . I dont mind bring my own linen thats cabin life . But i turned on the fan when i walked in looking for a light swytch . Ruined my coffee with dust . Ceiling fab has never ever been dusted .

Friendly staff and beautiful property. The only complaints I have are the cleanliness of the room and the noise level if you are staying below the store area. There were dead bugs everywhere in our room. There's no way the vacuum was was ran before our visit. There was also a bobby pin and part of a necklon the floor. Dehumidifier was not emptied and was full. The kitchen closes at 8-9 so you will hear footsteps up above you until then.

Got there, door opened with the slightest breeze and wouldn’t stay shut, toilet that didn’t flush, there was a fist hole in the bedroom wall the crickets were deafening no staff on property, phone number goes straight to voicemail stayed here a total of 20 minutes before having to spend $400 to find somewhere different to stay.

It was a good stay. We had to pick up our son at the airport late and the place is close to the airport. The cabin is basic but clean and comfortable. There is $30 "rent" fee for beddings and towels so bring your own if you don't want to spend the extra money. It was quiet and peaceful and it looked like we had the place to ourselves but once weekend starts people start coming in from all over. By the time we checked out on Saturday morning the place is full so we were glad to be out of there. They have some nice hiking trails which we enjoyed, some ponds where you can fish although the pond across from us is covered with green stuff. We enjoyed our cabin, it was comfortable enough for a two-night stay. The place is clean and quiet during the weekdays and they offer free freshly-brewed coffee in the morning and the staff are friendly.

Nobody available in the evening to get checked into cabin, no one answered phone, stay away from this place

Really just a one night nest. Wish we had more time. Booked as first "Pet Friendly" accomodation I found. Unbelievable good price for excellent accomodations. Nestled on a back road about 6 miles from both Smithville and Platt City

We always love Basswoods loft cabins! Its away from the city and a country/camping like atmosphere! We always come back to Basswood!

Stayed in a cabin. Not modern but very functional. All the necessities. Kids enjoyed the loft. Tried the pizza shop on-site. Very good. 2 outside play areas for the kids. Plenty of trails,paths, roads to walk.

Our stay here was just so wonderful, it was very quiet, big room with a comfy bed. We didn’t use the jacuzzi. The staff were so accommodating. We sat around a fire as we eat our delicious pizza last night which was made fresh for us. We didn’t have a chance to walk any trails but hope to stay longer next time. We could hear the birds this morning, what a treat from the noisy city’s.

Needs maintenance on cabins and playgrounds and outside game activities, no bibles in the cabins, loved the activities for the kids. The staff was wonderful and very friendly and helpful. The Pizza Shack pizza was a hit with the kids. The breakfast buffet we were told about was not there. The store for food and coffee didn’t open until 9am. We would definitely go back. Internet was spotty. The bathhouse was very clean.

We had such a great time here. There was lots of family activities. Theres an outdoor pool, bounce pillow, an activity center with a variety of games. A cute counrty store and everyone was so nice! We stayed in an 8 perosn cabin. There were 3 lakes within 100 feet of our cabin. Will note do bring your towels and bedding

This is a very nice RV park. They have a fun shop, and their pizzas were delicious!
