Cool environment based on old time hotel from early 1900's. Looks sketchy from outside and a little confusing to find where to check in. We did find some people cleaning some of the rooms and were able to ask them, but if we hadn't found them would have had a hard time figuring out what to do. Not very secure check in as you just pick up your key in the hallway. Nice room as it has a kitchenette in it and that makes it convenient to make something to eat. Beds were squeaky but comfortable. Bathroom had a step up of about 8 inches so could be dangerous if you're not careful--especially in the night when you're half asleep. All in all a cozy place with an old timey feel. Convenient parking in the back that makes it easy to get to your room without climbing a bunch of stairs.

This is a quirky place, but I loved the historic simple feel. A 1920's oilman or con man trying to swindle newly rich local of her oil windfall would have been comfortable. Took a few minutes to figure out the key situation, and internet failed late in the evening, but otherwise fine. Parking and access from behind. The building (and much of Pawhuska) could use a burnishing...perhaps the fortcoming film will provide an economic boost.

This was an amazing place to stay! The room is so cute, nice little kitchen in the room. The room had lots of space. We loved being able to sit out on the balcony (roof top) and see downtown. The room has so much charm, we loved it and always stay there when in the area/

We selected this hotel, because of the proximity to the Mercantile, and for its value. We knew before we arrived the type of place that we booked. The nostalgia of the place is great, but I do think some simple updates could be made without compromising the nostalgia. For example, the floors need to be finished and re-painted and patched in places where the concrete is broken. An investment in new mattresses for the beds would be a great improvement. The driveway that leads up the hill and out behind the hotel is in desperate need of repair. it seems it would be an easy thing to fix. It is full of potholes. Otherwise, our short stay was fine with no issues.

I would not recommend this property unless you simply can't afford anything else. The room was very dirty (standing dust and debris, hair on the toilet, stained furniture and sheets. I did not stay. Looked around the room and simply left.

Great location, easy entry, cool general vibe. Cool, funky but somewhat down at the heels. Trash left in the trashcan, coffee in the filter, a smell of hamburger permeated the room, and an older man, clearly drunk, sitting on the roof deck surprised me as I returned to my room in the dark at 9 pm.

The historic idea was fantastic, however the renovations were poorly done. The cleaning staff are not cleaning as the there was food leftovers in the fridge and the bottom of shower curtain and tub were dingy and stained. Mold was on the ceiling.

Historic means the room was in the same condition that it was 70 years ago. Had a very loud window AC right above the double bed. The bed was old hospital beds from many decades ago. Ridiculously too soft. Went home after two nights with terrible back problems. It was inexpensive for good reason.

Very “historic” in that the rooms still look like 1940s with a new coat of paint. However, even though it looks questionable on first glance, it is kept very clean. Beds were a bit hard but they have done well at making modern conveniences available in an old building.

2nd time staying here and still loved it. Spacious rooms with lots of character. If you love shabby chic, vintage, fun, or different places to stay, this is it. If you stay in rooms 1-6, you might have to lug your stuff a little further than you want, but it’s worth it. We love Room 1. Will definitely book again when we are in Pawhuska. The only criticism I had for our room is that the covers are a little small for the queen bed. Once 2 people are under the quilt, you almost can’t cover both people. Just need a larger quilt for the bed.

I selected this room because i loved the old charm of the old metal bed against the light green wall. It is a lovely old room. Spacious too. The shower was great. Super hot water and good pressure. I love the kitchenette. And the regular size fridge. We were a bit unsure of where to come in at. A entrance sign on the main door to hall of rooms could be helpful. FYI: Being an older building, walls are thin. You can hear your neighbors. But we had a really quiet night. But all in all, its exactly what I thought it'd be.

I liked that it was walking distance (2 blocks) from the Pioneer Woman Mercantile. The hotel was no-frills, which I didn’t mind, but the bathroom was small and I would have to jiggle the handle to get the toilet to flush. The lamp by the bed was very dim. The staff was very nice.

Everything went well with the check in. I was a bit skeptical when I realized everything was contactless but it went off without a hitch. The only complaint we have is that the exterior lights illuminate the sleeping quarters of room 1.

It’s like stepping back in time when life was easy and life was simple. Reminded me of going to grandmas for a visit. I would not recommend this for the millennials or younger generations because you’re too critical of the simple life. Check in was easier than the big chain hotels. Will stay here again.

Stayed here once before and would stay a third time. We could not figure out why the cable was not working. I called the number and the guy who answered was very friendly and funny. Walked us through with no problem. Place is clean, quiet, and have always had a good stay.

Arrived to find no key to room and room occupied. Called emergency number. Management was unable to locate our reservation and blamed Expedia. Eventually located it and we were given the last room available. There were three of us and one queen bed. No rollaway was available. Two loveseats were pushed together for the third person. It also did not look like the room had been cleaned - dead bug, toothpaste on bathroom wall, dirty shower and curtain, coffee grounds all over coffee maker, etc. No other option at 10:30 at night so we stayed.

I was traveling alone for business. I was aware that this was a check yourself in hotel, but not to this extent. I called beforehand to ensure my safety and was told that only "sometimes" do people accidently get your key that is NOT in a locked space and the door to this space does NOT have a key code or any security. Anyone could access the area hotel attendee or anyone off the street. The door lock was very outdated and looked like it was broken into at one point. I felt very insecure and unsafe and if anything happened to me there was no one around at all. I called the host and stated that I felt unsafe and the security measures were not correctly portrayed. I told him that I was staying somewhere else and all he stated was, "Okay, I'll tell the housekeeper" I did not receive a refund.

We liked everything about the property. The only suggestion or information that we should have asked for was how to run the heater. The way we had it set, it would shut off and on quite often and interfered with our sleep. Other than that, we enjoyed ourselves at the Historic Whiting Hotel Suites.

We enjoyed our stay and would do it again. The room was good and what we expected from viewing the pictures. You can walk to dining and shopping in minutes. The parking is challenging along with walking from the second floor to the street. A lot of empty store fronts that need much cleaning and curb appeal. Overall, great trip.

Love the convenient location- short walk to everything! Cute little hotel. Was nice to have the large refrigerator and microwave. Very clean! Extra towels and toilet paper on shelves if you need more. They only provide soap, so be sure to bring shampoo, conditioner etc. Beware of the little step up to the bathroom. Bed was comfy- I love the little lamp right over the bed. The love seats were very comfy as well and a nice addition. We enjoyed our stay and the town!
