An ok hotel. Our room was small with barely any room to open our suitcase. No fridge. Clean enough. Complementary filtered water stations throughout the hotel was nice. Check in process was wait in line at the busy desk or check in on computers in the lobby. Nice location. Close to many attractions. River walk was very nice.

The hotel was great..very friendly staff, easy check-in. Room was spacious, had a 9th floor view and it was amazing!! The only thing is parking..they do affiliate with a parking garage on Randolph..not a far walk. 30.00$ a day. Or they do the VIP for 76.00$. We did the 30$ day parking.

The good- hot shower with good water pressure. Good location. The bad- the elevators are very old and there is always at least one out of service . We stayed here a few years ago and had the same problem, but we thought it was a temporary problem. Turns out it's not. It's a very old building and we were told it would cost too much to update the elevators. It takes forever to get an elevator, which is a problem if you are on the 22nd floor. The room had no fridge or safe. The king bed apparently was 2 twins pushed together, and it sunk deeply in the middle. The bathroom wall and picture on the wall had something splashed all over it. I didn't feel comfortable having the room cleaned because there was no safe. We won't stay here again.

The rooms are very old and basic. The sheets were dirty, and overall the room felt unclean — definitely not what I expected. The elevator broke down during our stay, and we were asked to use the emergency stairs from the 16th floor. On the positive side, the staff was friendly and the location is excellent.

Had a negative experience due to employees fighting with customers and treating them very disrespectful in front of everyone except the Hispanic lady the slim one didn’t get name the rest of the employees look at us like if we didn’t belong there also elevator took almost an hour to get to the 12 floor and another hour trying to go up had to stairs the room was dirty hall and lots of marks on the walls vent was filthy and dirty room was hot AC didn’t work

The best way to describe this hotel—decent. The location was amazing! The guy at the front desk was very kind and helpful. However, the room was just okay. There was hair that didn’t belong to my partner or I in the bathroom. There was dust EVERYWHERE. The room could use a good deep cleaning, a carpet clean, and a layer of paint. There were scuff marks/stains all over the walls. The room was TINY. The bathroom was TINY. There was only one working elevator, so the waits were often long and the elevator was always packed to capacity. We also booked for the River Hotel but we actually stayed at Club Quarters. But for a last minute stay in the heart of the city, it was fine for a single night. Everything was within walking distance which we loved, but next time we will spend the extra money and stay at London House or Royal Sonesta next door.

Location was great, able to walk to many area attractions. However, hotel wasn’t the cleanest. Stayed 3 nights & housekeeping never came even though we requested trashes be emptied & linens be replaced on day 2. Had to call the front desk 4 times over a 1 hour time period to get clean towels (I walked down there twice but they kept saying they’d send some right up).

Air conditioning didn't work well at all. It was about a high of 80 outside but the ac barely kept the room cool. I called the front desk and they said they sent someone to fix it while we were out but it still didn't work. We stayed 3 nights and I just accepted that it wasn't getting fixed. If it was hotter outside I would have made a bigger issue of it

The location was amazing! Right in the heart of downtown Chicago in perfect view of all of the buildings and river of course. The room, although small, was efficient and clean. The only criticism I would have is that the ac didn’t work at all and the temperature was warm for the entirety of the night .

Our stay was great! It was in a great location. Valet was much easier to use than finding public parking. Easy check-in and our room was huge. We had two bathrooms to access which worked out with having kids. We had a little kitchenette, with a fridge, dishes and silverware which helped when we brought take-out pizza back to the room. We also liked the convenience of the water stations. Great stay and I would definitely go back and request that same room. Thank you!

Excellent service, very centrally located in downtown Chicago. My room was clean as long as you don’t look too closely. Fixtures in room are starting to show their age. My room was very small with a window view of a wall outside, given the high price.

There was only 1 elevator working, which caused us to have to wait a ridiculous amount of time to get to and from our room on the 23rd floor. There was no soap at the sink or in the shower, so we had to use the shampoo. Yes, we could have called to have some brought, but we would have had to wait who knows how long for it to get to our room. The thing that bothered me the most though, was that I paid for a king sized bed, and what we got was two twin mattresses pushed together. More than likely won’t stay here again.

I have always been coming to River Hotel but my last stay changed my mind. I won’t fully blame the hotel but to the extent I will because the valet service was so rude and disrespectful. If they are third party who works for River hotel then River hotel needs a new valet company. Valet wants me to sign the card without telling me why I need to sign, he told me to either sign or go self park. This is on River Hotel since YOUR customers who are paying $300 to stay a night are being disrespected by people YOU hired. Sadly I will need to find a new hotel because I loved the location.

This property exceeded our expectations at almost every turn. It is a well maintained luxury property with excellent, friendly staff. Our guest room was generously large and the public sitting area was clean and inviting. The check-in/out process was different than expected but there was plenty of staff to walk us through the process.

Stayed at River Hotel and honestly expected a bit more. When I got there, instead of someone helping with check-in, they just pointed me to a tablet to do it myself. Not exactly the warm welcome I was hoping for. Also, the elevator was super noisy. I could hear it from my room all the time, which made it hard to relax or get a good night’s sleep. The place looks nice, but the service and comfort weren’t really there for me. Hope they improve that in the future.

Staff was wonderful, friendly, funny, smiley, helpful. Hotel is in great location for everything, room was spacious, comfortable bed with a great view of the river. Housekeeping was very good as well. We will be staying at the hotel again surely.

Our experience was fantastic! We called a few hours prior to check-in to see if we could park our car there early, and got a lovely man named Ronnie on the phone. He was so polite, helpful, and friendly. He let us know our room was already ready, that our reservation (through Hotels.com) included parking, and that we could come park immediately. When we checked in the front desk staff was upbeat and friendly, efficient and competent. Complimentary water and billable bottles is such a convenient and great touch! The room was clean minus a couple pieces of hair on the bathroom door. The view was of an adjacent apartment building so not ideal, but we were only in the room to get ready and sleep. We could hear the elevator which was close to our room, but we slept well anyway. Nespresso machine in the room was so pleasant in the morning. The hotel was a short walk to House of Blues where we saw a concert. Try the Foundation Room's black truffle "frites." They were to die for. The location cannot be better in my opinion. There are lots of cool sights and restaurants, close parking that you can valet or self-park, etc.

River Hotel is located in a very convenient street, very close to the River, Michigan Ave and most importantly attractions in Chicago, the room extremely clean and the staff very kind, we have an excellent choose when we elect the breakfast in our reservation, the Hotel gave us a voucher for $25 each one that you can use in a restaurant located just beside the Hotel( very nice ) you can use the voucher whenever you choose in this Restaurant

Great option when visiting The Magnificent Mile. Great location, minutes from Trump Tower. Room is clean. It's somewhat a "self serviced" hotel. even checking in- you do it yourself on a screen which is somewhat unusual. No breakfast but free coffee available.
