We were able to walk to the Shedd aquarium, soldier field, millennium park,Ellis tower, etc. the views were incredible and check in was seamless. Only bummer was the hot tub was great one night and then wasn’t warm the next 2

The pros were excellent location, nice pool & grill area. The cons were: for a so called furnished apt, it was sparsely equipped. The beds were small for 2 adults. The water for bath/shower were only lukewarm, so that we hurrried to shower and skipped baths. The couch had holes in it, the walls were scraped and needed paint. Some outlets didnt work for charging. The pool area was crowded with too many people. The pool is small. The hot tub jets didnt work and the water was dirty. They just kept adding clorine instead. Has some potential, but needs maintenance and improvement to receive a higher ranking. The valet parking is $75 day, or you can park around the corner overnight for $28.

Great location! Beautiful building! A great gym! Our only complaint would be the size of the bed. I am 6' 3" and it was way too small for me. Even my wife, who is 5' 2" thought the bed was small. Also, just beware that parking is $75 a day, which I think is standard for downtown Chicago.

I liked the location and the views from the aparthotel room that had floor to ceiling corner windows facing the water and the Essex Hotel sign. You could see the sail boats, Grant Park and Shedd Aquarium. The pool area was small and didn’t look as good as the picture.

Nicely appointed furnished apt rentals on Michigan ave across from Grant Park. Staff ia very friendly and helpful. Amenities is a nice fitness center with free weights, lap pool, outdoor grill area, and common work area. Appreciated free lobby coffee in the morning

Sentral was lovely! Enjoyed our stay, self-check in was quite easy, but there is a front desk at all times (i believe) so we felt very safe! Exit and re-entry was simple and quick. Our unit was beautiful, we got a lovely view of the city, sunsets were amazing. Need a little deep clean in a few areas, but not bad overall. The pool and hot tub were open and clean. We enjoyed the sunning deck and mixed seating available for relaxing in the sunroom. Thank you Sentral! We would definitely recommend them.

We stayed at Sentra Hotel during a Nike basketball tournament at McCormick Convention Center—just an easy 8-10minute drive away. The apartment-style setup was perfect for our needs: having a washer and dryer in-unit made it so easy to clean my daughter’s uniforms after long, sweaty games. The full kitchen helped us stick to healthy meals, and the amenities: lap pool, hot tub, gym, and game room were a great way to unwind between matches. The location couldn’t be better. It’s walkable to Trader Joe’s and Paris Baguette, and the view of the bay and park across the street added a peaceful touch to our busy weekend. The area felt very safe, which gave me peace of mind as a parent traveling with my teen. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. While the couch in our unit had a few stains, which I covered by wrapping a blanket all around the couch, and the poolside furniture could use a deep clean, those were minor issues compared to all the positives. We’d absolutely stay here again for future tournaments!

We were in loveee with the property! Gorgeous view of the skyline and in such a great, convenient location. My only complaints are that there was mold on the shower curtain, and there was also a terrible smell coming from the washing machine (smelled like sewage and mildew). The self check in process was also super easy! 9/10 stay overall, I would stay here again!

The corner unit renter to us was beautiful until I walked into the master bedroom that reeked of vomit. While unpacking I stepped into a soaked carpeted area which was clearly just cleaned in attempts to get rid of the vomit. They missed a few spots on the bed frame and the vomit was still there. We ended up sleeping in the other bedroom with my son and husband having to sleep on the couch. Property overall was nice but this was not the experience I hoped for. Also, could not access wifi until next day because of poor host communication and no literature or emails being sent ahead of arrival to explain absolutely anything. Missed 1/2 day of work because I did not get access to wifi until the following day. They then wanted management to come up and inspect bedroom and vomit reports while we were still in room scheduled to check out in a few hours… as if I was not inconvenienced enough. Would not stay again solely for the poor customer service. Requesting full refund.

Expected a lot. Was underwhelmed. Shower grout grime. Stained shower curtain. Stained towels. Gross couch cover. Smart thermostat kept changing the temp or rebooting and becoming useless for half an hour. Fridge stink of spoiled food. Bed is stuffed in an alcove so you have to climb into it. Useless 10 cup coffee brewer. Sandy feel to the floors. Noisy baby across the hall kept waking me up.

Apartment was dirty. Toothpaste left on bathroom sink, the kitchen sink had black muck on it which made the whole place smell bad, stains on couch and cushions. Asked apartment staff to clean up and it took them 18 hours to send someone.

The staff and the hotel alone was amazing. Only concerns was the conditions of the hotel room. You can visibly tell a lot of luggage has hit the walls and the rugs had a lot of stains.

Fantastic location with a lovely view. Enjoyed the layout, design & decor. The cleanliness impacted our rating for multiple reasons. First, there was hair on the floor in the living room and both bathrooms, plus on the couch. The shower tiles need a good deep cleaning, as there was pink and grey mold on the grout. Also, the prior guests likely smoked or vaped, so we had to open all the windows and air out the unit upon arrival.

The front desk staff were amazing and very kind. I will say, the hotel room itself was kind of dirty upon check-in. There were crumbs on the floor, on the countertops and in the cabinets. There were tons of scuff marks all over the walls in the living room and kitchen area. There were pieces of trim missing throughout the room as well. With a little bit of TLC, this place would have been five stars!

Our stay was good. Our bed was a bit uncomfortable but my daughter said hers was fine. We were surprised there were no TVs in the bedrooms but that was not an issue. The staff was pleasant and helpful. Overall, our stay was good.

We had a corner unit overlooking Grant park which was the saving grace of this place. Cleanliness was just OK. Had 1 box of Kleenex and 1 roll of TP for an entire week. Also 1 packet of coffee. So the place was not stocked well. Also had to wash our towels during the week since we were only given 2 bath towels (these also had to be used for the pool). The fan/light over the stove was broken (didn't work). The location is nice with great walkability and the pool and hottub were really nice amenities. Bed was comfy. I'd stay here again, only if the price was right.

It is a great location and a great room (basically a 1 bedroom apartment with a kitchen and washer/dryer). The only negative is the level of noise. There is about a one-inch gap between the door and the floor. Any noise in the hallway sounds like it is in the apartment. At night, I had to close the bedroom door and use a white-noise app to get to sleep.

Our late checkin was easy. The room had amazing views of Grant Park/Navy Pier out one window and the city from another window. Apartment was spacious with good facilities. Bed was comfy. Only downside was that the shower had low pressure, but for us that was not a major. Location is really good with most things within walking distance.

This apartment had some of the most spectacular views of the lakefront and the city that you will find. Apartment was spacious and a great value compared to hotel rooms. Check-in was a little difficult. Staff was helpful but not overly friendly.

The property had some nice features (beautiful view, good location, nice amenities) and some flaws (poor water temp regulation, stained sheets, no fans in bathroom, VERY thin walls). But what ended up negatively affecting our entire trip was the absolutely horrible mattresses. They were so firm, it felt like sleeping on a stone slab (and i have a firm mattress at him that i love). We were waking up with back and neck pains every morning until we finally took the mattress out of the pull out couch and laid it on top. This helped, but turned our king mattress into just a twin so now we had almost no room to move. I dont understand the logic behind buying a mattress thats so horribly uncomfortable and not having any mattress toppers or solutions available. It definitely affected our trip and is a big reason to why i would NOT recommend this property to anyone.

Enjoyed my stay here. The property and the room were clean. The only issue I had was the AC stopped working and I had to call the front desk and have them walk me through resetting both thermostats. Other than that I had no issues. Would stay here again if I am in the area.

From the moment we walked in, each staff greeted us and made us feel welcomed… to all the great amenities especially the pool + gym… to the cleanliness, comfort and contemporary look within our unit … and a special thanks to one of their staff Joy who was so helpful when we had to extend a day and making it work out during a busy weekend! Will absolutely return and recommend this place especially for my wedding clients for their guests or family members needing to stay in town a little longer!

The area is great and I would stay in the area again but not sure about this particular property. The staff at Sentral that I encountered were all very pleasant and I would have given Sentral a higher rating but I asked 3 times for washcloths via the number I was given to text for issues and never received them. Also the unit I was in needed the carpets cleaned and didn’t seem to be throughly cleaned prior to our arrival.

Amazing room, great pool, friendly and helpful staff. Check in had problems. Room was not ready until almost 7pm. Staff was unable to credit room cost because we prepaid. They did offer late checkout, but would have preferred credit. Parking was slightly complicated, but not a major issue.

We stayed for an extended weekend with the purpose to visit the Field Museum and Shedd Aquarium. The proximity to the museum campus was great. It was also walkable to some restaurants that were highly recommended for Chicago style pizza and bagels. The room was clean and comfortable, a studio fit 2 adults comfortably. The reason it wasn’t a 5/5 was the confusion of the valet parking and the self check-in process. The valet wasn’t at the booth when I first arrived, which caused me to walk up/down the sidewalk with no luck. A taxi driver told me they were in the neighboring hotel. That advice got me to the right place. The valet was very kind, but it was a bit hectic at first. Checking out and getting my vehicle to go home worked just fine with no issues. For the self check-in, the key card pad wasn’t functioning at all, so we couldn’t make our keys on our own. Luckily a worker was at the desk and available to help. Overall would stay again.

This place charged my card twice because they said expedia didnt pay them. That is not the customers fault, that is a maintenance/site issue to take up with expedia & the front desk attendant was extremely passive & rude. The manager came to assist and we came to an understanding but this was unacceptable and did not leave a good impression. I was treated very poorly.

I was already paid in full through Expedia- Sentral charge my card an additional stay I understand the hold and the early check in but they charged and additional room and I been on the phone with them and my bank for 2 days to resolve the issue. They refunded my money back but I have to wait 3-5 days for it to clear - they didn’t have to wait any days to take it out of my account and they should not have taken it out in the first place. The employees are rude on the phone and didn’t apologize for their mistake or offer any complimentary.

The apartment we stayed in was an excellent choice for our family trip. The unit was large, clean, updated with beautiful views. Having a kitchen, living room and separate bedrooms made it feel like a home away from home. The location was perfect. We were able to walk to the park, museums, restaurants and grocery stores. The area felt safe and was very family friendly. The staff were welcoming and helpful. I would recommend staying here to our friends and any family. We will definitely stay there again.

A wonderful alternative to staying at a hotel. We had a one bedroom apartment that was spacious, full of light, and tastefully decorated. Full kitchen and washer dryer were very convenient. There is a casual, but quite good restaurant attached that gives a slight discount, to people staying at Sentral. There is a market next door and another one a block away. Plenty of good restaurants nearby. Easy walk to the museums in Grant Park.

From reservation to check out this place was wonderful. The ladies at the front desk were so kind and helpful! We came for Race weekend and Sentral did not disappoint. The views were amazing and location was perfect. We frequented the Grant Park Bistro often.

This hotel is really an apartment building whose lower floors are for renting. The workout gym is fantastic - the hot tub has a view (fireworks in the summer Wednesdays and Saturdays). The location is nice with lots of restaurants nearby - and 0.5 miles from the Art Institute. Staff were very friendly - and they should note that there really is a small convenience store/coffee stop just two doors down - for food, snacks, wine, etc!

Stayed here for 8 days with my family and it was nice! Some things felt inconvenient, like going to the lobby for my own grocery and food orders instead of being able to have it delivered to the door. Maybe that's common for buildings in Chicago? Premium Room was worth the extra expense; stunning views of the lake, Navy Pier, museum campus, Grant Park, etc. Would definitely recommend for families. Game room and pool were fantastic. That said, I would have been disappointed for a girls trip or romantic getaway. Lot's of cab rides required to get closer to the river, Wrigley, pier and other activities which greatly added to our expenses. The cleanliness of the room was not up to my personal standards, some of the appliances were wonky. But I suspect most people are only here for a few days and for that, this place is perfect.

We went for Lollapalooza and it was a really great location - just accross the street. I didn't love the check in process as you check in yourself on tablets (there is someone to help if you need it though), but the tablet just kept freezing and I had to go to the next one after having tried a few times on the first tablet. Other than that, this is a great location really close to downtown and museums. About 1 mile from Navy Pier and the Magnificent Mile but if you don't feel like walking that far, the Lyft rides are about $9 on avg to get around. I loved the pool, so beautiful. The room had everything we needed and love that it's an apt so you have a kitchen. It doesn't have a bar or restaurant inside but right next to it on either side there's a grocery and restaurants. Staff was friendly and it's locked at night w/ security so it feels safe as well.

Hotel is right in front of Grant Park and provided us great access for the Bears game. Check in was so easy and staff was so friendly. It was a very safe area, restaurant options close, right on the mag mile, clean, comfortable bed and our room had an AMAZING view of the lake and city. Only complaint is the bathroom sink didnt want to drain well. Would definitely stay again
