Econo Lodge Woodstock - Shenandoah Valley I-81

The only thing good about this place is the cleanliness. The maid service did a good job with old, rundown content in the room. I reserved here because it was pet friendly. There was no info ahead of booking that said there would be a $30 additional for each pet. Ugh!!!

If you are looking for an affordable, no frills stay, this is your place. It isn't quite perfect because the new owners are revitalizing a motel that, a few years ago, would have been unthinkable to stay in. But these new owners have worked extremely hard to provide an affordable service without sacrificing comfort. When we walked into our room that first day I actually blurted out "This smells so nice!" and one of the nearby staff members smiled and thanked me. I was working remotely, and had a nice space desk and chair. The bathroom was clean and the water was hot with appropriate pressure, and we had plenty of space to store/hang clothing if we chose. We did not use the pool, but I would have if time allowed. It looked clean and refreshing. There are even a few small covered pavilions for relaxing outdoors with some shade. There appeared to be a few contractors or other longterm guests, but it was always quiet and no drama. The owner was professional yet friendly, and the cleaning team was too. We will definitely stay here when we are in the area next time.

Pool was wonderful

The staff is great. The rooms are ok doesn’t look like the windows can be locked. I stuck a wooded hanger in the bathroom window. The office chair wheel fell of when I moved it. I will also let them know the dust balls stuck to the wall. Over its not bad. the pool is nice they have a grill for cooking and the restaurant next to them has great food and good prices

It provided what we needed for the overnight stay. The twin size pull out couch was not practical for more than one person, so that made the room tight for our 6 person family. As expected, no breakfast was provided. Front desk was not staffed continuously, but they responded using the Ring doorbell. Overall, it was reasonable for the cost. There was an outdoor pool, but we didn't have time to try it out.

Pet friendly

For the price, this wasn't a bad place. It wasn't very dirty except for the door. The bathroom and shower area is very small. It is a older place and does not have elevator to the rooms on the second story. They've redone the the stairs to the second floor, but there are soft boards on the walkway on the second floor that need to be replaced.

The area in front of the hotel was cluttered, poorly lit and the reception area was not as clean as it should be. This is an old motel and it needs some upgrading. After approximately 10 minutes, the TV stopped working-Direct TV connection was lost.

The mattress was wore out and there were dips and it wasnt what i thought id be getting from the picture. Im disabled and i had to drive to the office to get into the pool because it was too far to walk. So now i know why i got the room so cheap.

We found coach roaches in the bathroom. Very out dated. Cracks needed to caucked. My son clean socks were black by the time we left that morning. We had driven 8 hours already to change to another hotel. So as a person that was an inspector of a big resort i knew what everything should look like. Definitely not worth the price i paid and charged a 15.00 dollar pet fee which should of been free for that property..if it wasn't for me being tired and my 16 month son being cranky and had driven all that way i would of left. Older property but clean. Staff was friendly. No issues.

Very dirty carpet, linens, chairs and table. There was a roach, a fly and smell all over even though it is a non smoking room. I was charged additional $23 as I have 2 more adults, even I have 2 queen beds and sofa bed on my room. Noisy outside too, people are very nosy and stares a lot. Not a good place for family, no breakfast and not clean. The tv is not working either, broken remote and wifi needs to be connected all the time. We have to wear our slippers inside and have to tell my boys not to sit on the floor/carpet. Will definitely not be back.

Person who checked me in was courteous and friendly. Although the building/facility is pretty old, the room was a clean as it could be. Absolutely no frills, but for the price, the stay was perfect.

Was hoping I could upload my pictures. Shower wall had mold, drain was rusty, heavy dust on the light switch, broken dresser, no window curtain, completely rusted empty curtain rod on the bathroom window, loose showerhead and faucet, wall outlet coming off. Checked in and clerk didn't seem to trust there were just the 2 of us checking in after 10pm. We are in our 70s. Couldn't wait to get out. Expedia should not offer this lodging again. Leaves a bad impression. Will NEVER use another Econolodge.

The room stank like old whiskey and dirt. The comforter had cigarette burns on it!! (Non smoking room). My wife found pubic hairs and dead bugs on the sheets!!!! The only reason we didn’t leave is that I needed to sleep because we were in the middle of a road trip and I was the only driver. We slept on top of the sheets. We got up and left didn’t even bother having showers we couldn’t stay any longer. And my wife didn’t even stay in the room she stayed in the car all night!! If I wasn’t a late check in (3am) I would have gone somewhere else!!

Bed was comfortable. Shower and bathroom were fine. But it had the carpet cleaner smell of old hotels.

This was a very average hotel, nothing really sands out about it except that the room was clean,, Definitely in need of an up date from bed and bedding to TV. Furniture was clean but had stains. Seamed like floor in front of bathroom was soft and probably had or has a water issue.. Also TV and internet keep going in and out all night.

The people upstairs were noisy and you could hear every foot fall and they had a child that ran around when we were trying to sleep. Very noisy.

We needed to use the sofa bed, and when we requested sheets for it, thats all they brought... no extra pillows or blankets. The sofa bed was small for 2 kids. The beds were too hard and uncomfortable. The room looked clean, but smelled moldy. It was fine for 1 night, but I would not have wanted to stay there longer.

Wishing I had spent more money on a better hotel. The place is old with plaster and paint to cover missing walls or even the door jam.. Old carpeting and bed was hard like a box spring although the sheets were clean.

The stay was fine. However, I booked the wrong days at first and was charged for those days as well. I made a mistake and asked for a refund and they would not give it to me. I understand if I cancelled or didn't show up but I stayed there on the correct dates that I meant to stay and they wouldn't give me my money back for the wrong dates. My advice for others using this hotel is get the extra insurance payment offered on hotels.com when booking so then you will not have any trouble getting a refund if needed.

Our stay was not the best. The hotel was very, very run down. The hotel staff was one lady and she treated us like we were doing something bad because we had booked through a third party. I wouldn't recommend staying here to anyone.

Well maintained for its age and design. Check in/out was smooth. Air conditioning was quiet and worked well. Only negative was some of the bedding and towels should be replaced as they were simply worn out.

The room was very clean and the man at the front desk was friendly. Check on was simple and quick. The beds were hard as rocks, as bad as anything I've ever slept on. The motel is listed as having a continental breakfast online but when you check on, you might notice a tiny sign saying that they don't do that anymore. The restaurant on premises offers a modest 10% discount but it was closed the day we were there so we had to make an unplanned stop for breakfast.

It was ok , we were in town from Texas on an emergency with our 3 babies under 3. We had only booked for one day because we were going to head home, but the next day we realized we needed to re book the room and our babies were napping when we decided so i booked again and paid in the hotels.com app to save a trip to the office when we were all exhausted and catching up on rest. Anyways, after paying and reserving the room again, the office began harassing us that we needed to cancel the booking we just paid for and pay directly with the property or leave the hotel and check in at 3 despite not needing the room clean and booking the same room. I explained if i cancel i won't get that money back right away and that I'll be ultimately paying twice since i already booked and paid for the room. After i explained this i was told i could pay 30 extra dollars for early check in which is ridiculous given the fact if i had reserved 2 nights originally for the same price, would i have to get out and check in again anyways? I will never again stay here. They are a rip off for minimal amenities. I'm a disabled veteran and small children. Plus they don't even have breakfast when they say they offer it.

Truly value for money!!! We stayed for 1 day as we visited Luray nearby. Prakiti at reception office was very kind and nice and provided all details. Late check-ins possible and lot of food options after 1 mile drive. Overall, very good option.

My husband and I was traveling and needed a break off of the road. The lady at the front desk was really nice. We are none smokers and our room smelled like cigarettes the family next door had kids they screamed and cried all evening. Other then the cigarette smell and Noisy family next door our over night stay wasnt bad at all.

This property was easy to get to, safe and perfect for our group for a night's stay on our road trip. There was a diner that was great in the same parking lot so very convenient.

The hotel was a little secluded from the norm, in other words, not right off the freeway or around other hotels! The front desk staff was coolest as to suggestions for things to do. Unlike other places I have stayed.

I needed to stop for the night on a long drive between RI & NC. All I needed was a cozy bed, a hot shower, & peace/quiet, nothing fancy. That’s exactly what I got. Great location off of I-81. Great diner for breakfast right next door.

This was fine for a travelers motel. The room was large and spacious. I would have appreciated a free breakfast, which is standard even in cheaper motels these days.

Great location, great views toward the mountains. Breakfast was good and great washer/dryers on 2nd floor, which is the floor we were on. Great price!

Property was convenient location for my stay and was adequate. No breakfast of any type was offered, which is disappointing as virtually all competitors have at least a minimal breakfast with coffee. Security of my room was a little concerning as the fit of the door latch to the frame face plate was not good in my opinion. Also the entrance door fit in general to the frame was no proper as there wasn't a good seal to keep air infiltration out.
