When I first got there, I stayed at one of the smaller rooms. As a solo woman I felt safe. I had trouble with the AC dripping and one of the shower doors was off. The reason for my higher review is because they switched me to different hotel/room .. right around the corner, which was very nice, much more comfortable. The only negative was that there was no lift. However Anna was very nice, and carried my bags up two flights of steps.. It was a nice place worth it and close to the train station for an early morning departure. Breakfast was better than expected for this restaurant.

Really lovely hotel in a perfect location! Literally 3 mins stroll to the main square with plenty of really good restaurants to choose from and its a quick 3 min walk in the other direction to the Archaeological Park (amphitheatre entrance) as well. The hotel is also pretty much opposite the best gelateria/patisserie on the Via Roma (De Vivo Pasticceria). Our room was great - 2 single beds were arranged easily, the air con was fantastic and the bathroom was good. The shower pressure wasn't great (a bit dribbly) but that would be my only complaint. The breakfast choices are excellent; fresh fruit, pastries, pizza, eggs, cold meats & cheeses, yoghurts etc etc. And superb coffee as well - made to order. The lovely girls on Reception all spoke English so I was able to call the hotel in advance to arrange airport transfers (90EUR each way for a 2 person pick up). No email address which is a bit odd but it all worked out really well as I was given a mobile number to text for when we landed (early!). I would absolutely recommend it and would definitely stay again. I would also recommend booking a 7pm table on the Habita79 hotel roof terrace for sunset cocktails & a view of Vesuvius! Its literally round the corner from Hotel Santa Caterina and a great way to start an evening!

Lovely old hotel with a really good location if you're planning to visit the archaeological site of Pompeii. We were there for a Marillion concert in the old amphitheater. Having free parking and a nice breakfast was definitely a plus. We’d happily stay here again!

Our experience with Hotel Santa Caterina was extremely disappointing. On the morning of our scheduled check-in, the hotel cancelled our booking and arranged for us to stay at another hotel instead. Unfortunately, the replacement accommodation was nowhere near the standard of the Junior Suite we originally booked. The room was small, dark, damp, and had a strong unpleasant smell. While the hosts were friendly and did their best to make us comfortable, the room was not particularly clean and fell far short of our expectations. We also did not receive the breakfast buffet that had been included in our original booking. What made the situation even more frustrating was the lack of support from the staff at Hotel Santa Caterina. We were left to carry two large suitcases across town to the new accommodation ourselves. When we returned to the hotel to complain, our concerns were simply ignored, leaving my wife so upset that she left in tears. Adding insult to injury, we later discovered through that the alternative accommodation was advertised at a much lower rate. Despite this, we were offered neither a refund nor any form of compensation for the inconvenience and disruption. This experience completely spoiled the end of what had otherwise been a wonderful holiday. We cannot recommend Hotel Santa Caterina in any way.

Avoid at all costs! Very tired building and facilities - the door frame to our room was loose, I thought it might fall off. Booked 3 rooms for the family, 30+ degrees outside, the fridge in our room didn't work and we had ants, the shower in the second room cut out mid-shower (also where complaining at check out, the couple behind us heard what I was saying and added that they had had no hot water) and the air con in the third room didn't work - asked for this to be sorted multiple times (along with other things) and all we got was 'I'll have to speak to the manager'. Finally managed to change the room on our 3rd night, but to a cheaper class/economy room. Asked for a discount/refund - same reply and nothing when we checked out. Breakfast was reasonable - that's about all I can say that's positive about this place... Just don't go there!
