Microtel Inn & Suites Urbandale

Checkin clerk was inadequately trained and needed help. Checkin process was very slow. One of the 2 clerks explained that the computer system was "under maintenance." The property is in a good location but front door was not automatic and i had to struggle to get the luggage cart through the door.

Room was ok but nothing works at this place! Fitness machines were all broken and not working, only one washer and dryer worked others were broken, to top it off the hair dryer in the room did not work.

No caffeine coffee in the morning. Broken down vehicles with flat tire in parking lot. Mowed around all summer. Trailers with junk on the property. This is a brand new area and this made Microtel look trashy

Not so good. Location is good. Breakfast buffet was picked over at 9 am. ( goes till 9:30.) one sweet lady to restock everything, but a full hotel meant food went fast. No room cleaning except every 3 days. And we had a baby with dirty diapers that added up fast over 3 days. When we arrived we checked the fold out sofa bed. The mattress pad and sheets were stained, dirty and stinky. We stripped the bed and took them down to get new ones. Towels were thin, worn, and few. Not enough shampoo and conditioner for 2 people for 3 days. I will not stay here again. FYI. No swimming pool.

Rooms were clean. Bed was very comfortable. Maintenance needs to be done at secure entrances. You could only use main entrance. Had water damage bathroom ceiling. Needs to be repaired and repainted.

I book a ground floor room and ended up on third floor. Also the room was dusty but clean other then that above the closet had not been dusted other then that clean. The hotel had a clean smell to it when you walked in and staff was awesome would have given all 5s but didnt get the ground floor and the dust is why i rated it 4. Plenty of parking and felt safe on the parking lot. Beds are comfy could use better pillows but for the price and the quietness will stay there again.

Good hotel for a good price for a night on the road stay. Bed was comfortable and room was very quiet. I'd stay here again. Would've been nice to have some 110v outlets in parking lot for a slow EV charge.

I spent a week at The Microtel. It would be nice if they changed up the breakfast items every once in a while. Waffles,juice, cold cereal, yogurt, biscuits and gravy (which I hate), boiled eggs, and I think there were bagels/toast… every day. Also, they need to fix the side entrance so that guests can use their key card instead of going in through the main entrance all of the time.

Exceeded expectations. Hotel was very clean. I watched the attendant clean a room, and she is very thorough. Everything is kept neat, inside and out. Continental breakfast was decent with lots of options. Only ding is only 1 ice machine, located on the 2nd floor. Overall, I'd come back!

The room isn’t as clean as you see in the photo. The room carpet is dirty, bathroom is dirty. There was a couple dead bug in our bathtub. There was a stain on our bedsheet. I understand for the price we can’t expect it to be a 3-5 star but overall it’s just really dirty and I was concern for my new born baby.

There was a giant patch of black mold growing on the ceiling of the bathroom. All the staff said was “sorry” and didn’t seem to want to be bothered. In addition, the hallways smelled heavily of cigarette smoke and didn’t help with our breathing.

No outlets throughout room 2 accessible. Sheets had stains on them very gross. Found 2 long hairs on clean towels in bathroom. Very disappointed

The (non-smoking) room smelled like stale cigarettes. The bathroom smelled like feet that hadn't been cleaned in a month. $158 base rate ($177 and change) for one Queen bed and the worst included breakfast I've ever experienced. Worst hotel decision I've made in years.

Was only there for three hours. TV did not work. Found old used deodorant in the bathroom. Then found bed bugs in the bed. We left immediately. Still haven’t heard from them about a refund. They did offer us another room but nope! Not recommended at all.

Queen room without a suite. Very small space. Queen bed looked like a full-size. Very nice big room if reserving King Suite.

Didn’t realize there was no microwave or mini fridge in the room.

Room 206 had no closet rail and hangers. Yes the hanger rail was completely missing. One of the lights in the bathroom didn’t work, and the TV remote battery was so weak that I had to get up and get within a couple feet of the TV to change channels and volume.

Room was good size. But, could use more outlets. Bed was comfortable. Older carpet but clean. Would stay again.

The tv was so small an the color terrible and room very small.tried canceling my reservation nobody got back to me i paid for 2 nights stayed there for 4 hours the 2 days.would not stay here again.

Our room lights flickered, our shower didn't work, and the couch in the bed had a big stain.

This was actually my favorite motel over our 3-week road trip. I didn’t realize there was no fridge/microwave, but we had an ice chest. The bed was comfortable, I loved the window seat for morning coffee, it was clean, and quiet on our floor. The lobby had a really strong smell of pot. There were 2 people in the lobby waiting area but it might have been related to guests on ground floor. The check-in clerk's name was Happy and he was so awesome. He was helpful, cheerful, and had great suggestions for dinner as well as places to stop along I80 as we travel west. The room was smaller but it didn’t really feel too cramped. It was warm and inviting. Great experience.

Found a plastic fork and cigarette butt in pullout sofa(non smoking room) Staff had verbal altercation with a guest in front of kids. Asked for eefund or feee night crickets!

15-minutes before arriving at the hotel, they called to say the handicapped room I reserved was unavailable. I could not understand much after that as I was driving. Told them I’d come there and discuss. Upon arrival was told the room type I requested was no longer available. They said they’d give me a different type room but I told them that since both my wife and I are disabled we require a handicap room. They said no other option available and no other rooms available. I requested they contact a sister property to see if any other rooms were available. Desk clerk refused. I then requested my money be refunded. Again he refused. At this time he was becoming belligerent. After arguing with him for over 45-minutes and demanding he call his manager, his manager told him to give us a room. Miraculously, a handicapped room in a supposedly full hotel became available. We stayed reluctantly, but I can tell you I will never stay with property again, nor this chain ever again. If this is how they treat their customers in this day and time, I suggest no one else ever do business with them either. Really poor experience.

The staff was rude. They were having a computer problem and insisted that I was giving them a bad credit card. Then proceeded to charge me for the room twice. When I requested a refund the next day over the telephone they charged my card again. I didn’t need to spend my vacation time on the phone resolving this issue.

The manager Hirel left the hotel and stated the front desk clerk was in training. Gave me a difficult time for a room switch and tried to charge me a different price that I was never advised of. Horrible experience that resulted in police interaction by me. Issue was resolved after hours of confrontation. Semi-clean. Not worth the hassle of you can pay $20 more stay somewhere else.

There was no employees on site to check us in. We waited 1/2 hour to be checked in prior to the employee walking through the front door.

It was a conveniently located. Clean rooms. The breakfast was ok. The coffee and hot water was always cold. The cream cheese was frozen. It was a very quiet hotel with ample parking.

The so call breakfast was hard biscuits & gravy both days

We stayed one night on our way to Branson Missouri. Everything was fine with the room. The woman at the front desk was very nice. Breakfast was mostly pastries. There was one waffle maker there, but the line was quite extensive with kids waiting, so we did not use that.

There was no microwave in the room which was not expected! I booked this hotel because we looked for one with a breakfast included and was VERY disappointed! The biscuits were hard as a brick and the gravy was COLD! Only a few slices of bread and a couple bagels available for all guests, a few hard boiled eggs and yogurt. No decent options. Nothing appealing so the second day ate elsewhere which is what we wanted to avoid. Also had a sign posted to not be able to bring food to your room. NEVER ran into this before! It would have been nice to take something back to our room for when we finished getting ready. Won’t be back.

Every time I came to the front desk there was no one there. I had to repeatedly ring a doorbell and ask another employee to find someone. I came down to breakfast about 25 minutes before it ended and there was only some biscuits left, so I had to go elsewhere for breakfast. The sleeping room itself was excellent.

We booked the Microtel in Urbandale, IA for a short stay. Everything was sparkling clean. The continental breakfast was good, and food was plentiful. We will definitely stay here again.

The breakfast they provided was terrible. Food was cold and not much of a selection. There didn't seem to be any staff maintaining the food during the time it was being served. Also, there was no decaf coffee being served.
