21c Museum Hotel St Louis

We had a great time at the hotel. Pool, spa, gym are outstanding, the plus of having a museum in the 2nd floor and great service in the restaurants and hotel made our stay very enjoyable!

Elevators are very slow!!!

You can tell that there was a lot of care that went into the design and creation of this hotel, but unfortunately, there has been a lack of maintenance that erodes the overall experience. The Good: - The Museum is well curated, thoughtfully presented, and inspired. We really enjoyed each exhibit. - Idol Wolf and Good Press are both high-quality restaurants, and we enjoyed the food and service at each. The portion sizes and ingredients were both above our expectations for a hotel restaurant. The Bad: - While the rooms are clean, there was a general lack of maintenance for the most basic needs for a hotel guest. For example, our shampoo and body wash were both ripped off the wall, and rather than being repaired, the broken bottles were just placed in the shower. We needed to call the front desk in order to receive functioning toiletries, which was disappointing given the price of our nightly stay. - While a small detail, we were only provided one coffee cup in our room. A great coffee maker can only be enjoyed if we have a cup to drink out of, and it underlined the lack of attention to detail we had seen in other parts of our stay. - The pool and locker rooms were very poorly maintained and frankly dirty. Towels were not consistently available (only in the women's locker room), the shower grout was visibly moldy, and there was a lack of general maintenance in what clearly was a previously beautiful pool and spa area. Overall, the experience was fine, but below expectations.

Very nice and clean property. The elevators performed better this trip. You can’t beat the nice bathrooms and comfortable beds. Plus the swim club, hot tub, sauna, steam room and other amenities make it the best place to stay in St Louis. Only complaint is ice and water for bottles. The fountains don’t work and haven’t in over a year, plus getting ice is like pulling teeth. But the food and everything else was great service at the hotel. Will stay again on future trips to St Louis.

Beautiful hotel. I loved the art museum. The restaurant was really great. The gym and pool were amazing. I highly recommend.

Some things missing from room and we called the front desk but they never showed up. The air conditioner was very loud and kept us up. The pool area was great but out of towels.

Love the pool, spa area and the art work. We stay here often And love coming back. Great outdoor space to have a cocktail from the full bar , shuffle board , pool table and awesome mingling spaces for friends

The hotel is beautiful! It was a great pick for so much to do on the property. From the pool area with hot tub and saunas . To the art gallery, and the stubbing bar! Grab some fantastic cocktails! Ask for Sunday, she was wonderful bartending! Perfect stay.

One word captures the rooms. DRITY. Or maybe filthy. For the price of the hotel the rooms should at least be dusted. Not only was the room in need of a serious cleaning but I located a random pill on the floor and after checking it on drugs.com determined it was a 60 mg Adderall pill. Door entrances to the room were dusty and filthy again the space was just very unclean. The room was so dusty that both myself, and my significant other have been coughing and hacking and our allergies are in over drive. On the positive side, the hotel does have a very nice gallery space on the second floor and in the basement the fitness center and the pool were absolutely amazing.

The sheets and comforter both had stains or something on both beds which we didn’t notice until the next morning…nasty!!!

Cool atmosphere and vibe, however, the room was not the cleanest. Towels had stains on them, bedding as well. There were giant cobwebs in the vents and we didn't get clean towels when they cleaned the room.

My room was not clean

Definitely no attention to detail with cleanliness. Robes so wrinkled and cheap looking didn’t even want to use them. Carpets stained horribly in the hallways. Bathroom not properly wiped down.

Great hotel- have stayed here before and loved it. Sadly this time our room was not clean… ashes in the bathroom, hair in the sink- looked like it hadn’t even been swept.

This property was was nice on the outside, not so nice on the inside. My hotel was visibly dirty had hair in the bathroom, including what looked like someone had finished shaving. Additionally, there was no hand soap to wash my hands which should be standard in all rooms. I brought this to the attention of the staff, and all I received was a drink voucher and asked to move to a smaller room than the one I already paid for. I brought this to the attention to the manager and still have not heard from anyone. This hotel has a nice concept and the gallery is spectacular, but the cleanliness of the rooms is very lacking. On my second next night, I was offered to stay in an upgraded room, but the room had an half eaten apple in the trash and floss and tissue paper in the bathroom.

Room was very dirty, glass top table where coffee maker was covered in an unknown dried liquid, floors were very dirty, found used silverware next to the nightstand on the floor. There was something splattered and dried on the wall, coffee cups had a white film in bottom of glasses that looked like milk. This is my third time staying at 21C and definitely my last.

Saddened by how bad this hotel has become! Stayed here a year ago and was great. Bathroom was filthy dirty, when floor was wiped with a towel it was black, and orange mold growing in the shower corners. Bed sheet had dried blood on it. I spoke and showed pictures to two managers who feigned interest but did absolutely nothing about it. Shame, most of the staff was fanatic and such a cool building.

The Ac/heat in room 508 was very difficult to control, it would pump a ton of heat and then a ton of cold,

We enjoyed our stay in STL at 21c. It is certainly a unique hotel that shouldn't be missed when in the area. The pool, hot tub, sauna, and steam room were so neat. The rooms were on the small size, but that's fairly normal for city hotels. The beds and linens were comfortable. I do want to share that the rooms are also equipped with a mini fridge which was not listed in the amentities.

The room was clean and spacious. However, the information is not accurate—you need to pay additional $50 for parking.

Fabulous bed!

Just stayed one night for a quick business trip but was impressed. Staff was excellent and room was really nice. Looks like they have a nice bar and restaurant in the lobby but didn't have a chance to check it out. I did hit the coffeeshop in the morning and it was really nice. I'll certainly be back next time I need to come to town.

Our corner room with a single king bed was amazing! For 2 people it was perfect. The in-house art museum and all of the amenities were icing on the cake. The only small little thing I can think of that could be improved upon is the AC/heat blower in the room is a little loud. Not a huge deal, though.

This hotel was beautiful and fun. Super easy to walk to the r Center. The room was very modern, but pretty tiny. I wouldn’t want to need to spend a lot of time there. It was perfect for an overnight stay to attend a concert. The restaurants were food. We did dinner and breakfast. Not many food options within walking distance. We really liked the water bottles and refill stations and the pool was unique and quirky.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The rooms were large and comfortable, and the furnishings were really lovely. The lobby, bar, and game room on the first floor were very nice; the pool and fitness center in the lower level were beyond our expectation; and the art gallery on the 2nd floor was amazing. Our only criticisms come from it being an older building - the air conditioning cooled the room, but actually over-cooled it, and then when the air con turned off, it got too warm before it kicked back on. It left us alternating between too hot and sweaty to then too chilly and needing a blanket at night. In one of our rooms the shower handle came off and we reported it to the front desk; they put it back on but it came right off again. We had dinner our first night at the restaurant Idol Wolf - fantastic food and service. We really enjoyed our dinner. Overall it was a great stay at this lovely hotel. We would definitely stay here again.

We booked and paid for a suite through Hotels.com, but when we arrived, the air conditioning wasn’t working. It was a warm day, and after three separate requests for help, nothing was done. Hours later, just before we left for the concert we came to see, I went to the front desk when they finally admitted they couldn’t fix it. Their “solution” was to move us — not to another suite(one wasn’t available), but to the a small basic room. We didn’t have time to switch before the concert, so after a long night out we came back tired, only to have to pack up all our things and move rooms ourselves. The room we were moved to was dramatically smaller, and their idea of compensation was offering us free breakfast. The difference in cost between the suite we paid for and the basic room we were given was significant — not to mention the complete disruption to our stay. When I went to the desk to discuss a refund, the employee couldn’t have been less interested in helping. Hotels.com tried to assist but explained that the hotel refused to authorize a refund, so their hands were tied. At the end of the day, this hotel charged us for a suite they couldn’t provide, wasted our time, and made no real effort to make things right. The lack of accountability and basic customer service was astonishing. There are plenty of places to stay that actually value their guests — this isn’t one of them. Avoid it.

Pros- clean, comfortable bed, black out curtains, quiet, cozy robe, separate climate control in bathroom, quality toiletries products, easy check in and valet, courteous staff. Cons- tiny room, low water pressure, limited self parking, poor in room coffee

We loved the hotel, it’s very beautiful. However our stay was terrible all around. We had an awful experience here and need help with our billing but the hotel staff is very unhelpful. Please help!!!!

Well to start this hotel has no ice machines, you have to go to the front desk for a bucket of ice. Valet parking, the gentleman that checked us in on 8-14 was as friendly as could be, not so much friendliness getting car on 8/16, different employee. Front counter checking on on 8/14 not very friendly early shift, lady that worked night shift was great. Water station didn't work on 10th floor. Cleaning lady was in my room at 9,10 and 11 on my 1st morning, I was staying for 2 nights. Was trying to sleep but that went out the window. No Do Not Disturb signs.. and check out isn't till 11, so why knocking on my door and just come on on my room at 9 & 10.... room needs good cleaning cobwebs hanging from lights and dust on lamps and headboard of bed, throw pillows had feathers coming out of them. No microwave in rooms and fridge wasn't very cold. Last curtain broke.Not sure I would stay here again

Had a few trips now, Normally have to stay for 10 / 14 days, they recognised me on arrival which was surprising considering how busy is it at the bar and how many people visit, Staff there are simply incredible, will stop and chat super polite and friendly. Shout out to Cam!! The only place I’ll visit in STL

Didn't have our room ready until after check in time advertised..

The whole staff is always wonderful here. The bartenders are spectacular. But who really stands out is the valet staff. A++, above and beyond every single time. Thanks!

We stayed here for our anniversary. From the time we arrived until the time we left, there were issues. There was a fire alarm that went off after we were in bed and we had use an actual fire escape from the 9th floor only to find out it was someone who was smoking in the hallway but yet no one notified the hotel of an all clear as we stood outside in our pajamas after going down a fire escape. When I talked to the Room Director he told me it was the fire department’s job not his. Next, the elevators weren’t working and we had to walk up and down 9 flights of stairs. When I inquired, I was told some kids were jumping in the elevator and it caused a problem. Perhaps someone would be managing the property a bit better? We asked for cups for our coffee maker in our room. Never could get them. This was a terrible start. It was our first time here and it will be our last. When we stopped to talk to the front desk at check out, multiple people were complaining. Strong suggestion to get some alert and involved manager.

Excellent service of everyone in the hotel. Please don’t change and continue with excellent services.

IdolWolf bar & restaurant is perfect. Beautiful menus for dinner, brunch & cocktails. Upon arrival at the hotel, knew it wasn’t realistic for early check in. We were told $65 for early check in, we were fine with that. Checked our luggage with their 3rd party valet service, we had an appointment scheduled that we needed to leave for. When we came back later that evening, we were able to get checked in and move our luggage to the room. The next day we were unpacking and came to find that we were missing almost $500 in cash. This beautiful hotel that we had a wonderful stay in back in June, we were beyond disappointed. We raised the issue with the staff. They rerouted us to the 3rd party valet. They did take care of a the valet charges, but nothing else came to fruition to make us whole on what was stolen from us. We followed up at checkout and they upgraded us to a suite for when we check back in the next day. We did need to book a different room due to no availability for one night. We checked back in, and when we arrived to our room, the a/c was completely disabled, it was broken. We called the front desk twice that day asking for it to be fixed. We were told that they were full and couldn’t move us. We checked out, followed up on the stolen cash. Reminded them to fix the a/c. We forgot some items in a drawer. We called and was told they’ll check with housekeeping. I called the manager. No return call. We just want our items returned to us. We are happy to pay shipping.

Such a nice hotel planted in a nasty and scary area. It’s a shame that it’s not closer to Busch stadium where it feels a bit more safe. We were nervous to park our car there. We noticed a car window had been broken out and laying in the lot. The hotel itself is beautiful and staff were great. It’s very modern and clean. Overall though the city itself is nasty and scary so it’s not the hotels fault.

Beautiful hotel with onsite restaurant, bar and coffee/breakfast shop. Historic building in downtown St. Louis in walking distance to City Museum, soccer, hockey and baseball stadiums, union station. Very nice room with comfortable bed and spacious bathroom. We did not eat at restaurant but hostess, Meg, was very friendly. The bar was great - bartender was knowledgeable and attentive (young man). We enjoyed the parlor room with shuffleboard and pool table. Workout room was nice. Valet parking attendants were excellent and helped arrange golf cart service to Busch Stadium. Museum was between exhibits so we were unable to visit it on second floor. Breakfast shop food was okay and servers were not friendly. We would stay again.

Not a great area but a great hotel

Overall, this hotel and the stay was very nice. I liked: Uniqueness of hotel and room Very nice bathrooms and big tub Three elevators for quick arrival/departure Front desk very nice Check-in easy Great burgers at restaurant Valet staff very professional and quick I didn't love: Ice machines locked and unavailable and even front desk seemed confused Had to use valet bc no apparent parking "Bartenders" clearly cannot handle any volume Wouldn't walk around in area, seemed sketchy to me. But just a quick uber ride from everything. Like i said, very nice hotel overall.

We enjoyed our stay! Close to Busch Stadium which was our destination. Staff was friendly and extremely helpful. Valet parking was worth it.

A terrific hotel created from what once was the YMCA. (Be sure to take a look at the exquisite tile work in the downstairs swimming pool.) There’s fascinating modern art, including a large gallery on the second floor. But beware that the hotel is on a desolate street of abandoned buildings so be prepared to pay high valet fees for parking or take Uber everywhere.

Great stay! There were so many amenities, the museum on the second floor was amazing. Went around 11pm and was empty to explore. There’s a lap pool, large hot tub, sauna room, steam room, and very nice gym! The room had aluminum water bottles and little chocolates and luxury bath items. Only few issues, there’s absolutely no parking unless you pay $45 to valet or $15 parking thru reservation ONLY if you call and book directly with the hotel. Otherwise you’re left running out to the street every two hours to renew your meter and the office staff confirmed this is the only option unless booking thru them directly. I also was given a handicap room with a tub as it was the last king room available but fortunately there was a cancellation and they were able to move me to a room with a walk in shower as described. There was also access to the air filter to see and it was absolutely filthy which explains our stuffy noses and constant sneezing while in the room. The shower handle had tile missing around it and our body wash and conditioner had been ripped off the wall and sitting on the shower floor upon entry but other than that the room was very clean!

Nice hotel within walking distance from the Enterprise Center. The neighborhood was very quiet. Despite it being on a rather desolate street, we felt safe and were not afraid to walk. I would stay here again.

This place has everything. Great food, great coffee, outstanding gym and pool area, and the rooms are top notch. Friendly and knowledgeable staff throughout. City Museum, Stadiums, and Arch all within walking distance. If you are staying in downtown St. Louis, I don't see another option.

The hotel, bar, restaurants and art were amazing. Would definitely stay here again. Some improvements; need a hair dryer in room without asking, need hooks in bathroom and need higher quality toilet paper.

Highly recommend! Loved the art museum inside the hotel and the cotton candy that came with the dinner bill! Coffee shop was also fabulous. Comfy beds and the shuffle board was a hit.

Beautiful hotel. On-site restaurant and bar were top notch. Best hotel fitness center I've ever experienced. Can't wait to return.

Love the property! Staff and amenities were too tier! Only thing I would recommend is security on site to stop homeless from approaching guests.

Idol Wolf is excellent. Good value. Love the art theme. Cool building.

James who assisted us along the way was very helpful. We did not have breakfast although we did spend some time at the bar and it was very enjoyable. The drinks were special and you could tell that the bartenders knew what they were doing.

This place is amazing. I booked here on a whim because of the giant crystal ball in the lobby and i was working an event less than 20 minutes away. Im so glad i did. The valet parking was lovely and made me feel my car with my whole business inside was secure. Check in was smooth and our room was beautiful. We ate at the restaurant Idol Wolf, and the burgers were very well done. I loved the cotton candy the brought out complimentary at the end. We had outdoor seating and it was very comfortable and easy to have a conversation, while the indoor seating was full and quite loud for me... but i know others like a lively atmosphere. After food, we wandered up the colorful beautiful staircase and found ourselves in a gorgeous museum full of moving art, lovely little sitting areas, and moving meaningful pieces around every turn. The museum was curated very well and it was so wonderful to get to explore it without having to leave the building. The pool was gorgeous and very well maintained. My companion enjoyed hpurs down there while i luxuriated in the amazing bath tub for some solo relaxation. We had an absolute blast. This was the best hotel I've ever yet stayed in in over 20 years of travel. I highly recommend it. You wont be disappointed.
