Essenhaus Inn & Conf. Center

A very relaxing stay. Room was very clean and spacious. Breakfast was delicious and the pool/hot tub wascgreat. Especially love the grounds around the property.

Have stayed before liked it came back The hot tub needs renovation! Those things in floor almost broke my toes on it!

The staff were pleasant, professional, and going above and beyond. We stay here twice a year, but this year was the best ever. Walks on trails, firepit, shopping, endless fun!

It’s a little dated but adorable! Rooms were very tidy. Staff was extremely accommodating. Fitness center left much to be desired. 2 treadmills, 1 was out of order and an elliptical that was all. Did not use the pool but it was right by the fitness center. Game room in the same area were all pay to use. Continental breakfast was quaint and you had many different choices. Eggs and sausage, cereals, breads, fruits, waffles, yogurt, coffee, juice, milk. I would definitely stay again.

It's a very nice hotel although the game room isn't very guest friendly. The reason is because there's no change machine so make sure to bring quarters.

The only thing I noticed that could use attention, was the overhead fan by the hot tub. It was loud and rattling which was kind of annoying and made it difficult to converse. A piece of pool noodle attached to the side would keep it from banging against the wall. Other than that minor detail, there was nothing at all wrong. Everything was spotless, the room was spacious, and we had a wonderful visit!

Beautiful property with an enormous amount of sitting options throughout.. fireplaces, stuffed dogs (in case you’re missing your fur baby!), nice entertainment area with pool, hot tubs, game room. Country decor, spacious room.. we will be back!

The Essenhaus Inn provides a cozy, but elegant atmosphere to rest, relax, and restore. The pool/hot tub area is immaculate. The breakfast area is spacious, but still offers an intimate feel. The breakfast choices go a bit beyond the usual offerings provided. The Essenhaus Restaurant/Bakery is within walking distance.

Our room was very damp smelling and feeling. It felt like it needed a dehumidifier. Also many of the rooms are built around an atrium like room that is set up with tables and chairs to encourage guests to play cards and congregate late into the night. It was so noisy with people talking and laughing loudly that we were unable to get to sleep. About 11:00 pm, I got up and asked the people (about 12) to quiet down so we could sleep as we had to get up early. I would never return to this hotel. On the positive, it is in a nice setting, you can walk to a restaurant, and it is decorated nicely. So is you like to stay up late and party, it is set up for you (at the expense of those trying to sleep just a few feet away).

First time staying here, this Inn/Hotel is by far the Nicest, Cleanest, Best smelling hotel I have ever stayed at, it was spotless. We were given a third floor room directly over looking ponds with an Otter, lots of fish, and Canadian Geese. I highly recommend this hotel.

Our room had a musty smell. Like it had been closed up for awhile. It was in an odd location. Only had one small window, which looked out into a small outdoor alcove. Made the room dark. I felt like because I had a deal through Expedia, I got the worst room in the inn

Our room had a little bit of an odor as soon as we walked in the room. I’ve stayed at this location many time and it’s the first time I did not give them five stars. Read a good cleaning, impossible remodel upgrade

Excellent stay, cleanest hotel I ever been in.

The place was beautiful. I do wish they would have had a better breakfast options for people who can’t eat gluten. Offering gluten free bread, bananas or eggs would have been great. On the breakfast menu was biscuits and gravy, waffles, breads, bagels and they like this day in age so many are gluten free it would be nice to have those options. Also, the carpet had stains around the food area and in the halls. The room we stayed in had damage to the ceiling around the fire sprinkler. For $200 on a mid-week night I’d think those things would have been corrected. The place was nice, staff was friendly pool was clean, however the ledge around the hot tub was peeling. I would love to go back one day. I’m just not willing to pay weekend rates with these concerns.

One of the cleanest hotels I’ve stayed at. Everyone very helpful.

The property and people were amazing. Us adults got pushed out of the hot tub by a bunch of kids and their parents didn't care. We were close to the pool and could hear them running up and down the halls. The hallway reminded me of a nursing home. We had mold in our bathtub, beds were hard. We had an okay time.

Beautiful property and the ambiance was lovely. We stayed for 5 nights. My complaints would be that the mattress on the beds were hard as rock and i woke up with body soreness every morning. Honestly, i dreaded going to bed at night. Some people enjoy a firm mattress but this was firm times 10. Also, the rug in our room was dirty and there were large black ants crawling around. I highly doubt we will book a room here again.

Beautiful property with big, homey rooms. The grounds are lovely with a bridge. The breakfast was very good. You can walk across the parking lot to the Essenhaus restaurant, which serves both off the menu and buffet amish food. They also have a bakery. Overall, a nice experience.

Upon check-in, our room temperature was 75 degrees and very humid. Adjusted the thermostat to 66. Forty five minutes later, it was 74 degrees. Called the front desk and was told maintenance was aware of the problem and was working on it. Note: the rooms have individual HVAC units and controls. A few minutes later when we left for our event, we stopped by the front desk to ascertain that a remedy was in fact on the way (our room was very warm and humid). Interestingly, the very pleasant desk person stated she thought the A/C was “motion activated”. Another visitor came to the desk who stated their room had been “miserable and warm” the previous night, he wanted to end their reservation by checking out early. So we inquired, since we would not be returning until late in the evening, if another room would be available should we find ours at the same temperature we had left. The pleasant desk person agreed to hold one (with a Murphy bed instead of a king) for us. Upon returning we found the room temperature to be 73 and still humid. (By that time of day, it was actually cooler OUTSIDE!) but the a/c unit seemed to be blowing cooler air so we kept the room rather than move. Though I never saw a “motion detector “ anywhere the a/c did turn off once then restart right away when one of us walked under it. (It’s mounted in the ceiling) so maybe it does shut off and allow the room to heat up and get humid. Unfortunately the recovery time (to cool / remove humidity) takes all night.

Spacious holes and rooms. Clean facilities throughout. Seem very calm and a good place for chilling.

Overall a good place; room size, bed and amenities were nice and everything was very clean but bathroom fixtures were old and in need of replacing and the noise from adjoining rooms was noticeable. The grounds were very nice with plenty of walking and bike paths.

Shower head was terrible. Upgrade needed. Couldn’t close a curtain, because it was off the rod. Night light bulb was burned out. I left a note with housekeeping, but neglected to mention the shower head.

The room was alright pillows on the bed were as hard as a rock and flat. Shower I thought was dangerous. Floor of the shower was very uneven. They need to update.

The hotel is very nice. Our room was very spacious and we had vaulted ceilings which made it seem larger. There was an additional room that had a sink and was great for putting makeup on.

The beds are so hard , it is not comfortable to sleep. Everything else was a 100 percent 5 star. We hurt everyday due to the beds

We had a great time as usual. The car show was fun. Breakfast was great. Have to say the only thing we didn't like was the cleaning carts blocking the hallway right outside our door when we were attempting to leave the hotel.

Staff were amazing. When I booked with Expedia the room said it had a balcony which was why I chose that room. When we were given room it did not have one. I spoke with ladies at desk and they said that was Expedia error but they worked their magic and moved us to a balcony room. So kind and accommodating. Excellent service by them and all staff. Breakfast was great as well.

There are several common areas where you can just sit and relax, Listen to the music, play board games or just visit with friends. Staff was very friendly and you could ask them about things to do around the Inn. They have walking paths and a pickle ball court. Great breakfasts. We had a very relaxing and fun time

Check in took 20 minutes, longer than it should have.

The hotel sent an impersonal email 2 days before arrival and cancelled my reservation solely because it was made using a 3rd party to reserve a room. No explanation no reason other than i made the reservation using hotels.com and not Marriott Terrible customer service and personal skills from the hotel manager.

Love this hotel. Our balcony room was large and dressed up cute!!. Loved havimg my own quilt to snuggle yp with at night. Beds and pillows were perfect. Batherom clean with plenty of hot water. Breakfast was legit with amazing choices. Pool and hot tub were clean and amazing. It was a fun recreational room. Dwfinately would stay here again!

I was not at all happy with the young man at the front desk. He was arrogant when he told me I should be wary of using Expedia. I don’t think that was appropriate for him to decide for me.

Everything was very nice, Except there was a bunch of little kids running around stomping on the floors, screaming and hollering, and the staff wouldn’t make them calm down. They were just running through the lobby, screaming and hollering, and nobody would make them stop! This was rude of the parents and the staff for not having control over them.

We enjoyed that this property was right on the Pumpkinvine Nature Trail. Great for biking or walking. The pool area was one of the nicest I've ever seen! Highly recommend the Essenhaus.

This is a very family friendly hotel complex. The restaurant serves a very nice buffet, and the hotel grounds are well kept. It is a short distance to Shipshewana, making it a good base of operations.

Essenhaus Inn is beautiful, inside and outide too! Very clean, person at reception desk was very nice and friendly, very quiet, unique decor. Right next door to the Essenhaus restaurant and variety of gift shops. There are very nice walkways and scenery is beautiful! We had a balcony on our room with a small table and chairs on the balcony. There is also a very nice fire pit surrounded by chairs behind the hotel. I loved staying here and would absolutely stay again!

Just a quick stop over. Very quaint country style hotel with all the usual amenities. Absolutely loved the continental breakfast! Would definitely stay at again just for the charm.

If you are attending a concert at the Bluegate Theater in Shipshewana, this is the place to stay. Its a convenient 10 minute drive.

What a wonderful stay at The Essenhaus Inn. The room was spacious and clean. The hot breakfast was better than most free breakfasts. The hostess was very friendly. It was located close to the Blue Gate Theater for our event. I would highly recommend the Essenhaus Inn.

Beautiful farm setting with walking paths and several ponds ..listening to nature. Inside was absolutely stunning decor. Friendly staff good breakfast. Would definitely revisit in the future.

Everything was great except disappointed with breakfast. Expected better selection for breakfast considering it an Amish Community. The fake eggs and sausage weren't any better than our stay at any other hotel.

Staff was friendly and the Inn was very clean. We were disappointed in the breakfast. Saturday morning was fine but Sunday morning there was hardly any food left, and we were there an 1 before it end, the serving area was not well taken care of, and the little food was did have was not great quality.

I was very disappointed for what we expected and for what they offer for breakfast! No scramble eggs! Only cold boiled egg. Their biscuits and gravy was not good! The couple donuts they had tasted like old!

We were not able to make phone calls on our cell phones in the room. We both got messages that we could only make emergency calls. I went outside through the pool area early this morning in order to make a call. Breakfast food items were good, but we were disappointed that there was not a hot egg option. We do love this property and its beauty. Staff is friendly.

Fantastic place to stay! This was my second time to stay there and I’ll be back. The only suggestion is that breakfast this visit was not as good as my previous stay. Other than that, love staying here!
