Quality Inn & Suites Brainerd

I’d say average- it wasn’t the worst place but the building is old and needs a whole new face. The amenities like a pool and restaurant were closed and not open. The rooms are outdated and need new bedding. It needed some outdoor care and yard work. But the staff was pretty friendly, and the room was larger. Kind of spendy price wise for what you get. It was nice to have plugs outside for our boats.

It was very old, needs a definite refresh. The outside landscaping was in need of work. The hotel rooms were clean, but old. The outside doors were disabled with a chair in front. Felt like I could not safely park car in front. Were people around that were living in hotel. Mattress sagged and was low. Smelled like air freshener over past smoking, needs to smell newer. Breakfast was good in morning however was in old restaurant that is no longer in business, in the bar part and had yellow taping to block it off, made it seem very sad. Old pool area was closed off. Doors and glass on windows very old and need an update. Cars reving up their engines out back were not good. Felt like it was a hotel for drug deals. Appreciated that it was clean in room and breakfast was good. Would not recommend.

The room itself seemed pretty clean and it was comfortable. The hotel itself needed some attention and updating. The driveway and parking lot was littered with decent-sized potholes.

The breakfast was barely a breakfast. There was one piece of bread, one bagel, biscuits and gravy. There was no milk and no microwaveable bowls to heat the instant oatmeal in. The only thing available besides the slice of bread and bagel were two kinds of cereal. I had to use the half and half creamers meant for coffee for my cereal. The person taking care of the breakfast wasn't available. Then there was the infestation of beetles in my room which I didn't enjoy. I stayed the night of the first big snow storm of the season. I watched two of the guests' cars get stuck in the parking lot because the lot was not plowed in the morning after the storm had ended. We were told that the lot might not get plowed until that night because the people doing the plowing had other places to plow first. GET A NEW SNOW PLOW COMPANY! I shoveled around my car for a half hour to be sure I didn't get stuck. When I tried to return to my room at 10:45 so I could get my things and check out by 11:00, my key no longer worked. I should have had access to my room until 11:00. All in all, it was one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. The only bright spot was the lady at the desk in the morning was trying to help people. (I think her name was Renae.) Also, the lady at check in was very nice.

Nothing shower dirty air conditioner horrible no elevator !!!

Property and staff are great. Nothing right there to eat or go out and the restaurant/bar built in is not in use and such a waste.

The room was comfortable, the lighting and the desk was perfect. The water pressure was horrible and they did not shovel after the recent snowfall so I had to wade through snow after I had parked my car.

Very rundown. Pool and restaurant was not open. And the grounds had weeds all over and not taken care of.

Friendly and helpful staff. Building reeks of stale cigarette smoke upon entrance (think 1990s hotels).. or at least did the day we were there. The hotel ROOM did not stink, so that was good. No elevator, oddly long hallways, windows that open but do not have a screen… the building definitely could use some updates. The acoustics were pretty rough down the halls, and the doors have a tendency to slam. Made it a little tough with a hockey tournament in town. But, you get what you pay for and I was grateful for the price.

For starters there was a dead roach on the toilet . 2 of the shower towels were staned .

This hotel is the dirtiest hotel I have ever stayed in. We only stayed one night do to the smoke in the hallways. Our rental car got hit in the parking lot to boot. The hotel is being used for low income housing.

The room seemed clean at first look. However, there was dust bunnies on the floor, the window was nasty and there was mold growing on the window sill. I had to turn off the ac because there was a terrible dust/mold smell coming out of it. There was hair in the shower wall (ew). I was on a non smoking floor and it smelled terribly like cigarettes.

Staff is really friendly. Room condition was average with things needing to be fixed, but was clean.

This hotel was very dirty. The bathroom wasnt cleaned, had pee stains on the toilet, the toilet wouldnt flush right but made noise all night. Not very confident the sheets were washed. I wont stay here again. The people were really nice though. Nice staff. The owner needs to invest in some remodeling and replacing the stained sinks and showers.

The room was gross and dirty. We found a bottle that was not ours under the bed. We also found a hair tie on the floor that had been there for a long time judging by the amount of dust on it. My blanket had makeup, dried blood and what appeared to be dried bodily fluids on it. I asked for a new blanket (which I was given) and some sort of compensation. I was told that because I booked through Expedia, I could not get any compensation. The manager told me that she couldn’t do anything about this. Awful! Do not go here!!!!

You get what you pay for and this being the lowest in town.. very much lack of care. Dirty and outdated. Thick black hair on bathroom floor and in sink. Room smelled very musty. AC didn't cool down room. Refrigerator didn't go cold even on coldest setting. Wasn't comfortable to take shoes off on floor or using the shower. Crazy to see any exceptional reviews on this property.

There was a stale smell in my room, stains on the carpet and a hair on the pillow of the other bed that I didn't sleep on.

The dirtiest hotel I have ever stayed in! Had to go purchase shower cleaner before being able to shower! Brown nasty dirt came off the shower tiles and the amount of hair in the bathroom was disgusting. Walking around barefoot on the floors, made our feet turn black! There was food from previous people on the floor and the over use of a perfume spray gave us headaches. The beds are old and hard. There was 4 of us and there was only three bath towels, so we asked the front desk clerk for more so that all four of us could have one, she was very snappy about not believing us and we had to wait forever for them. If there were other hotels that had any vacancies we would have left, but unfortunately it was a busy weekend and there wasn’t any other ones available.

Every stay I have at this hotel has been great. I have limited breathing, and am always able to get a room that connects to the parking lot so I don’t have to carry my luggage very far

Had to change rooms 3 times because the heat was not working in the rooms.

Pretty run down. Got put in a room that was freezing, cob webs and smelled like smoke. Heater didn’t power in so got moved to a different room. That one was a bit better. Atleast it was warm and didn’t smell so bad. I wouldn’t stay here again though! Staff was nice but seemed frazzled with doors and other things not working

Staff was excellent! Very helpful and nice. Room left something to be desired. Mattresses were very worn and felt like they needed to be replaced. Air conditioner in room was very loud. Carpet felt dirty and I felt like I should wear shoes on it.

Perfectly fine place to stay while passing through - but not for an extended stay. A very dated and neglected hotel

I don’t understand why this hotel was getting excellent reviews. The heater in our room did not work. It was freezing in our room all night. When brought to the front desk, the attendant said “well, it is cold outside.” The thermostat did not work. Additionally the alarm clock made attic noises off and on all night until we physically moved the night stand as it was rigged up to it could not be unplugged. Overall the hotel was clean, but some of the halls smelled like smoke and the beds were terrible!

The bed was very uncomfortable.

Had a main floor room, unique that it had a door directly outside and a door to the inside hallway too, nice. Clean and quiet.

The staff was very friendly. There was a lot of garbage piling up. Especially around ice machine on the 2nd floor.

Staff was unfriendly and bathrooms were dirty. Toiletries were not available and if you went to the front desk, there was no body there. You could wait 20 minutes and still have nobody show up at the front desk. Breakfast was terrible. Nothing was fresh. The hallways smelled like cigarette smoke and marijuana.

Everything about the room reception and check out was great. The only bummer was that the individual hired to prepare the breakfast from 6:30 to 9:30 decided not to show up for work that day so I was unable to get breakfast.

1st room, only half room had electricity; 2nd room the air conditioner was not working. 3rd room worked. Brittney was excellent & very helpful!

Renae, who works at the check in desk was very courteous, knowledgeable, and helpful.to make our stay a five star stay.

I liked that it was easy to check in and the staff was amazing and friendly. The inside however, needs some major modernization.

We were scheduled for 2 night, the keys expired after 1 night. Tried to call hotel to let us in and was told they didn't have anyone that could let us in the door we were at. She was too busy. When checking out the person that was supposed to be at desk was no where to be found. waited quite a while for someone to come back.

Nice location. Wish there were more gluten free breakfast options, but I’m used to not having many choices. Quick check in and nice/ clean rooms.

We stayed at this hotel for a wedding that was in Cushing; about 40 minutes away. This was suggested by the wedding party; as they had a bus going from the hotel to the wedding venue and back. This hotel is large; and fits a number of guests. It was also very inexpensive. Our room was relatively clean; however the duvet was stained and I just took it off of the bed. The bed itself was comfortable and although the room is dated; it was clean. The staff was pretty good; however, we did hear some grumbling about being short staffed and long days/hours worked. There was a failed highjacking when we first arrived at the hotel; so a police officer was there and that was scary for the woman involved and that is why the "area around the property" is being given a 3 star. There was breakfast provided and that was your typical hotel provided breakfast and certainly adequate. If you are looking for an inexpensive place to just crash for the night...this could work just fine for you!

What impressed me most was the breakfast buffet. Not only was there a wide variety of offerings, but the quality of the items was taop-notch!

Great stay and the staff were awesome. Breakfast was very good. My only complaint is that the tap water is non-drinkable due to a funny taste that you even get with the ice machines. Not the hotel's fault. Would stay again.

The outside of the property was entirely unmaintained with trash, a bag full of dog waste and general disrepair on the outside. When you go inside the smell of musty smoke was prevalent in Door B (where we were directed to park and go). The lady who checked us in was great. The people we encountered throughout our stay were less helpful. Breakfast had no protein, there are two diabetics in our group and there were no eggs only biscuits and gravy/waffels/toast. We have never encountered no eggs at a breakfast (usually cold hard cooked eggs).

Breakfast was terrible! Had a sign there was a limit of two sausages per person but it didn’t matter as there wasn’t any. About half a cup of watery scrambled eggs were available. Two blueberry yogurts left, only oatmeal was plain. No fruit, muffins or any bread products. Didn’t matter as there was no peanut butter or jelly available. Was a breakfast an hour before it closed. Checked in at 3:00 pm on a Saturday. Left hotel to attend a wedding around 5:00. Came back to the hotel around 11:30 pm and went to breakfast at 8:00 am on Sunday and saw the same front desk employee. Very nice lady, felt sorry for her.
