Villa 2008

Villa 2008 is in Chichée, close to Chablis. On arrival we were shown around by Ingrid. Despite we don't speak French very well, everything was quite clear. The residence was very clean. A couple of friends passed by Chablis for two days and we asked Ingrid if they could possibly spend the night with us. This was not possible due to the insurance. We respected this. Then we asked if our friends could come and visit. This was no problem. Our friends booked a chamber in Hotel Le Lys, in the center of Chablis. Because we had more facilities they came to us for breakfast. During the day we were always out, exploring the neighborhood. Our friends came for breakfast twice and dinner once. We ended the evening with a game of Rummikub and a glass of wine. Ingrid came back and suspiciously asked if our friends hadn't stayed the night after all. We explained that they were staying at a hotel nearby and only came to visit and stayed for dinner. The next day they left for home. Ingrid seemed to agree, but again indicated that our friends were not allowed to use the swimming pool, also because of the insurance. They had not done this, so this was no problem. Not much later we received a message from Jean-Jacque that we were not allowed to break the house rules and that our visitors were not welcome. They were asked to leave immediately. We were very quiet and did not cause any noise disturbance. We thought the reaction was a bit exaggerated, but we responded kindly. Not much later our water in the residence was shut off because our friends were still present. The moment they left and the gate closed behind them, the water started to recede. This response from the owners is, in our view, highly inappropriate and even childish. To just shut off the water without proper communication is really not okay! Btw we cannot find any house rules that you are not allowed to receive visitors. The owners have not spoken to us since this incident. Not very welcoming in our opinion. The villa is located in the owners garden. This is not clearly indicated on the booking website and you would not immediately expect this because 'Private Villa' is used everywhere. The pool will be closed at 20h by the owners. There was a sweet dog present who regularly visited our departure, certainly if there was food nearby. We have no problem with this, but I can imagine that not everyone appreciates this.

Séjour très agréable dans une Guest House très lumineuse. L'intérieur est très propre et très bien entretenue. Juste un bémol pour la salle de bain un peu trop aérée pour un jeune couple un peu pudique, mais ce n'était pas notre cas. Encore merci pour l'accueil.
