Hilton Pennywell St. Louis at the Arch

Front staff were incredible. Bar small but typical high prices. Location very good. No views in our room, just brick walls. Gym acceptable, clean and half dozen machines.

Everything was very nice and enjoyable. My one complaint - which, I might add was a Very, Very big issue - was addressed and the charge for my overnight parking was comped. I feel it very inappropriate to charge $80 for 2 nights of parking if the parking garage is not even attached to the facility. In sub zero windchill temps, NOONE wants to trapse across even ONE city block with suitcases and bags to make their way to the lobby of their Hilton stay. And, if I it IS necessary that I do so and ask my guest to do so ... I sure do not expect to have to pay an additional $80 to do so. But, as I said, the fee was comped. Morning of departure, the elevator in the freezing parking structure that was around the block had a not operational sign. So, to further enhance the experience, my 53 year old stiff body with a torn ACL had to cart all of my luggage up the ramp three floors. Needless to say, not how I was hoping to depart from my relaxing weekend trip. It IS peculiar that I was charged $40 a night but refunded only $61. AND, as i had this unexpected fee upon arrival (yes, it is partially on my own accord as I did not read the fine print) I cut out the Christmas at the St. Louis Botanical Gardens tour to make up for the extra expense. So, we missed that as I did not receive the refund until my return back home. So, it was $20 short and a day late on the cancelled garden tour ... but, at this point, I think it is what it is. Thank you.

The hotel is very nice. The staff at the front desk was accommodating and listened and understood well. I personally would not stay here again because housekeeping was knocking on our door at 8:30 AM which I believe is too early to disturb your guests. Yes I should have had the sign up but that is still too early. Also no working ice machine, she told me eighth floor but I could not access the eighth floor with my room card and I gave up.

Did not like the $45 a night parking charge or the fact that there was no pool. I should read amenities a little closer next time but just assumed all hotels had some sort of pool. Otherwise the hotel was convenient to the downtown sculptures and the Arch and Riverboats.

We were surprised this was a Hilton. Our room service breakfast too too long. Our meal was not as I ordered it. There were missing parts of our order. The hashbrowns were burnt. No toppings for pancakes. No juice. We reported it. It took over a half hour to replace our breakfast. The parking was expensive. 1 parking ticket didn't work. We would have thought that a Hilton would provide vouchers for parking. No coffee in the lobby. We will not be returning. The staff were kind.

Only One elevator was working. As with other Hilton properties where I have stayed many times, not as friendly and clean like others.

Parking should be included in the price of the room. The majority is driving to a hotel.

Unfortunately we were immediately disappointed because this hotel does NOT have a pool or hot tub even though it’s advertised as having both which is initially why I picked it. Overall though the hotel was clean and comfortable we did have to pay for parking though.

The Pennywell has a vintage and classic vibe as it used to be bank. It still has marble in the lobby and other historic touches. Parking is right next to the building and is convenient.

Ordered a drink in the bar after returning from a baseball game. Waited 1/2 hour to be told they didn't have the wine we ordered and then after waiting 40 minutes for a second order without receiving it, we went across the street to the Hyatt. Parking was very confusing.

The property is absolutely beautiful and the lobby smells amazing. It’s in a wonderful location for tourists if you want to visit the Gateway Arch, head to a ballgame, or visit for a concert like I did. Everyone was friendly. When I arrived, my room wasn’t clean and I did tell the front desk and they accommodated me with a new room. The room was neat, but I did notice some of the sheets were dirty. Other than that, I had a great experience.

Our room didn’t have hand soap, the bathroom door was dirty, the coffee pot had old water sitting in it & there was no lid. Everything was very dusty & just didn’t seem clean at all. Our main door also didn’t close well, good thing we noticed before we left for the day.

Checked in with ease to our hotel, but hotel room was dirty and one of the curtains was ripped. I brought this to the attention of the staff and front desk. They seemed very indifferent and said they would send housekeeping right away. Things were still dusty and dirty after housekeeping came to clean. Very disappointed.

Very clean and very classy—-definitely my hotel of choice next I’m in St. Louis.

While I understand that the front desk staff is not at fault, I was disappointed to discover that the bed sheets in my room were in unacceptable condition. While I greatly appreciate the professionalism of the front desk staff in quickly moving us to another room, it was still a discouraging first impression. Earlier, when dining on-site, we found the kitchen was out of several requested items, including the blackening seasoning, a number of entrées, and even standard beverages such as soda and juice. As this is both my first time in this state and my first stay at this property, I had hoped for a more welcoming experience. As an Honors member, I expected a higher level of service and consistency than what has been provided thus far.

Everything was spotless & all of the staff is so helpful and friendly

The historic features of the hotel were absolutely awesome, including the preserved bank vault doors. The service was excellent. We did find some hair on the bathroom floor that hadn’t been cleaned up from prior guests, but otherwise, the room seemed very clean. The street noise was loud at night, but the hotel itself was quiet. The beds were comfortable and clean, and check-in/out was a breeze.

Staff is very nice the room was ok it looked like whoever cleaned it did a half job 😩there was hair in the shower and the rug looks dirty there was no linen for the sofa bed at this point we got in late from a 17 hour drive from Texas so we just wanted to rest.

Booked a one night stay. The first room they put us in had stains all over the comforter of one bed and then something stuck on the comforter of the second bed. The staff was friendly and gave us a new room which was an upgraded room. In this room the shower did not drain at all and so after 30 seconds the shower basin was filled to the top and so we were not able to take a shower. Also the fridge was leaking and because of this there was a giant wet spot that was about 3 foot in diameter right in the middle of the floor.

The hotel was very nice. The parking was very easy and relatively affordable. The location was wonderful as we were only there for an overnight stay and a trip to see the arch. We had a view of the arch out our window. We loved the high ceilings in the room. We also really liked that it was an old bank which highlighted the vault and the gates. The only complaint was that the air conditioning was a bit noisy. Every time it clicked on it startled me a bit.

This hotel was the perfect home base for attending ballgames. It was right on the middle of everything yet our room was quiet.

Hotel was very cool, in an old bank. Staff was incredibly nice from front desk to valet to housekeeping. Perfect location to visit the Arch and old courthouse or to see a Cardinals game. All very close! My only complaint is that it was was very noisy every morning about 5:30am. Our window faced an alley on the 4th floor and I don’t know if trash was being dumped or what not. But that was a bit of a bummer. Otherwise the hotel was clean, quaint but everything we needed for our stay.

Room was very dusty and loud. Slamming doors and traffic outside on 4th street all night kept us awake. Walls and windows provided zero noice insulation. The service was not up to par. Bar was not appropriately staffed for a Saturday night and the bartender used explicit language expressing displeasure when a cocktail was ordered rather than a beer or wine. Very disrespectful and disappointing. Check in/out reception was quick but acted like they didn’t want to be bothered with questions for out of town suggestions.

It was a nice view of the arch and the river. The room was small. The water pressure was slow and there was no cold water. The refrigerator didn’t work either but the staff was nice.

TV did not offer Netflix. I was unable to mirror my phone with the TV. The screen had an annoying logo that would not go away.

Had to sit around and wait for check in for a couple hours before our room was ready. Even though my sister’s family was offered $20 for early check in, we were not given that option. Got the key from the front desk when they said it was ready. Go up to our room and housekeeping is still in there and it’s nowhere close to ready. Had to wait 1.5 more hours to finally get into our room. They gave us 2 free drinks and tried to get us into a smaller room that wouldn’t work for us. Poor communication. Housekeeping was super slow. Bar was understaffed and out of a lot of stuff. Breakfast service to get seated was slow, for an average breakfast buffet. Nice hotel but seemed extremely understaffed and slow, main floor where you wait was 80+ degrees. Valet service was the best part about the hotel stay!

It took over 30 minutes to get my full order and the other portion came out 20 minutes later after I asked. Getting a cup of coffee was just as bad both days. I ended up eating at the Hyatt for breakfast on Sunday.

The minute you walk in to the Hilton Pennywell you are hit with Aromatherapy...the scent brings you a sense of peace and Serenity. The customer service of the staff is next level! The decor is impeccable, food is delicious, the beds are second to none and the showers take you straight to HEAVEN! It's location is near many attractions and restaurants that are walkable. THE HILTON PENNYWELL IS A 10 OUT OF 10!!!!!!!

The property was beautiful and I can't say enough about the staff. I had to wait about 15 - 20 minutes for my room and the staff was outstanding providing us updates, they gave us a complimentary dinner and bar service along with covering our parking fees. totally unnecessary but appreciated. My mom is disabled and they were so kind and patient with her.

When I arrived to check in, they told me my reservation had been canceled. It was a nightmare experience.

Close to Busch Stadium. Bed was very comfortable. Not enough staff in Café/breakfast area over busy weekend; Staff worked very hard but were very slow.

If you’re going to see a Cardinals game, this is a super convenient location. But otherwise there’s hardly anywhere to walk to for dining. It’s quite a desolate downtown.

This hotel is in a very cool, super classy former bank. We only stayed one night but the staff was very friendly and attentive. Everything in the lobby was bright and clean. The room and bathroom were both spacious and clean and the beds were very comfortable. The location was great. Easy walk to nearby shops, places to eat, the Arch, Busch Stadium. I would definitely stay again.

Close to arch but surrounding area was difficult to navigate due to closed roads and construction. Area was also very loud at night and we woke up several times due to road noise.

Easy walk to The Arch and to the Stadium

The building was well maintained and beautiful. The view from the room consisted of 3 brick walls. Not very inviting. There was not enough help in the bar/restaurant. It was almost impossible to get waited on. People were actually coming in and then leaving before being served. The food prices were extremely high also. $29 for a burger! Yikes. We left and ate at the Hyatt with excellent service and much better prices.

My husband and I stayed here for a long weekend at the end of March. If you’re headed to St Louis to see The Arch, this is a great place to stay! It’s a super easy walk, just a couple blocks away from The Arch and the river. The hotel was nicely decorated with a bar and a restaurant-though they never seemed to be active and when we did stop in to see if they had tea one afternoon they did not. The room was spacious and the facilities in the bathroom were very nice and it was very clean. We had breakfast included and the food was really good and the service was great but it took an hour one morning to get our food, so beware if you are on a time crunch you may want to ask what the wait is before you sit down and order. There were other restaurants in walking distance, Carmines was great, Brewhouse was ehhh… All in all, the hotel was very nice and we would stay here again if we found ourselves in St Louis.

The hotel is beautiful! The rooms are gorgeous. Nice and clean. I requested extra blankets and they arrived quickly. My only complaint… the hotel doesn’t have Diet Coke. I ordered French toast for room service. The food wasn’t great. It was too trendy for me. Just plain ole French toast with butter and syrup would have been great. We were able to walk to everything and didn’t even need our car. We would definitely stay there again.

Overall, our stay was great and room/bed was very comfortable and clean. An unexpected power outage the first night was unfortunate. Also, the quality of room service FOOD was mediocre and overpriced for what you get.

Ate breakfast at your little restaurant. Service was slow BUT our waitress was wonderful. (She wasn't slow...getting served our food was slow.) Room was very clean and nice.
