Had to stay on the 3rd floor. Very difficult stairs with no assistance

Wanted to be on first floor, I have disabilities, had to walk up to 3rd floor and the stairs are narrow.

Quaint Victorian Inn. No elevator but the stairs were manageable. It would have been nice to have a coffee machine in the room or at least one in the lobby. The breakfast and menu options were great!

There was no room in the inn to relax . Only provided guest room and breakfast room for 90 min each morning .

We stayed in the garden suite which was a separate building behind the main house. It was quiet, spacious, and had a comfortable bed. There was a good amount of parking on site. Staff was very polite and attentive on check in. There was an included breakfast which was very good and a pleasant addition to our stay. This property, especially the main house, will appeal to guests who enjoy and appreciate the charm and uniqueness of a well-cared for heritage building. The Inn is easy walking distance to the centre of the main street. Quick drive, or moderate walk, to St. FX university.

This is a great value for the price. Staff is very nice a helpful. We picked up food at the restaurant right across the street and had a lovely picnic in the yard behind the property.

Staff was very friendly, fresh made breakfast, comfortable bed and air conditioning, and walkable to downtown area. Beautiful extended garden area in back for nice walks in the evening. Front porch and stairs need to be repainted to the charm of the building.

Was excellent except no elevator

We recently stayed at the Victorian Inn in Antigonish, paying $600 for two nights in a family cottage, unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. From the moment we walked in, it was clear the unit had not been properly cleaned or maintained. Kitchen was filthy—ant traps, dirty oven with a cookie sheet still inside, under the sink was a mess of more ant traps, grimy cloths, bathroom was no better: shower curtain badly stained, bathtub had a visible ring, and the bathroom fan was so caked with dust it couldn't possibly function properly. Throughout the cottage, surfaces were unclean. Glass coffee table had visible handprints, door knobs and windows were grimy. The back patio was in poor shape, with rotting boards and no furniture to sit on, making it unusable and unsafe. To make matters worse, there was a coffee maker with a dirty basket but no actual coffee provided. When I spoke with one of the owners' workers at check-out, I was told that just two people were responsible for cleaning 13 rooms in a 4-hour window. That explains a lot, but it also highlights poor management priorities.This building is iconic in Antigonish and deserves so much better. It’s heartbreaking to see it so clearly neglected, with no apparent interest in preserving its reputation or offering guestsa respectable stay. Sadly, it seems the owners have chosen to run this once-charming inn into the ground.We will not return—and I can’t in good faith recommend this property to anyone.

Good place to stay, bathroom drain was clogged and dusty, stains in sheets. Could use a good cleaning

This was the worst place we have ever stayed. Everything was really dirty - crumbs on the counter, a dirt ring around the tub, dirty glasses, kitchen table not wiped, huge spiders on the patio & chairs - but to top it off, the bedding had not been changed!! There was a “certain stain” in the middle of the bed sheet - and the liner beneath it! We got new sheets and changed the bed ourselves - the staff we talked to said it was the washing machine not working - but it wasn’t “that” kind of stain …. We were EXTREMELY upset and disappointed.

Stayed 2 different nights on our road trip to and from Cape Breton,had 2 different rooms, first one was dusty, major dust underneath the bed, bathroom blind was broken and would not close at all, sheets and pillow cases had stains, second was just as dusty and stained sheets again,dining room floor had not been swept for a while.

Been here a few times in the past. Got to say that this time was a disappointment. The overall entrance was a bit messy but the weather had been rainy. The room itself was just ok but the bathroom was dirty. Baseboards were filthy and there was toothpaste or something on the wall beside the sink. Some new caulking in the shower would go a long way too. Overall a disappointment

The property was getting quite run down and it needs some good cleaning of the floor in the breakfast room (same dead bugs on the floor for 4 days of our stay), room had a dirty bathroom (floor was not cleaned behind toilet and corners) , screens in room ripped), and outside and fire escapes in need of paint

I would never go back to this place. Our sheets were dirty and we were given sheets to change the bed. There was dust and dirt everywhere. Unfortunately it was late when this was discovered or we would have found another place

Our bed sheets had an awful stain right near the pillows. There was a bright light outside the bedroom window and noting to block it. No gluten free bread available.

Our room was very dirty. Toothpaste on the walls in the bathroom, dirty walls in the bathroom, a significant amount of black mold in the shower, stained sheets, broken blind on the window and the smell of Marijuana and curry as you entered the building was unacceptable. There was an artfully displayed toilet paper pyramid in the bathroom. Why? We were only there for one night. How much toilet paper can one couple use? Although breakfast was included, we decided to go somewhere else as we feared for our health. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

We arrived to an unclean room. Clumps of hair on floor, carpets dirty, hairs in bathtub, toilet, pretty much everwhere. Dirt and other debris under dressers and a build up of dust on floor and baseboards. Bedding was also not the cleanest. The response from staff was "I will let my housekeeper know". :(

Did not like not having a bathroom in our room

We liked the style

All good for a solo trip. Clean, quiet; just the basics. No in-room fridge or coffee maker but frankly that didn’t matter for me: the low price made up for it in a very big way.

The house was very Victorian in style. With that said, the options for rooms should be better explained. Our selected room was on the 3rd floor with a private bath which was across a hallway and not in the room. We inquired about a different room with a bathroom en room and were given a room on the 2nd floor at an additional cost. The breakfast was good although we were asked at check in what we wanted the next morning so they would have what we requested. Who knows a day in advance? Recommendation would be to ask more questions about the roometc prior to booking.

The building was warm.It looks true to “Victorian” style. It has unique woodwork/trim. The bathroom was big with a tiny shower. It’s close to restaurants and shops. The bed was clean and comfy.

We had anticipated a more “Victorian” style room, it’s was more like staying in grandmas spare bedroom in the attic.

It was a gorgeous, quiet, quaint place to stay however, I had trouble with the door, it was hard to get the door unlocked each time going in and the bed was very uncomfortable, it gave me bad back pain and I got no sleep because of it.

Stunningly beautiful old inn. I was a little surprised to find that my room's bathroom was not in the room (one of 2 rooms like this, I believe) but it was ni big deal. I left before breakfast was served but it looked like they put on quite the spread.

The decor was nice and the staff SO pleasant, breakfast was delicious, and the bed was comfy. Everything was clean, and I loved the little details (a hardcover copy of "Little Women" in the nightstand instead of a Bible? Yes please!!!). Only annoyance was that the doors and floors and stairs are LOUD. A bit of WD-40 on the door hinges and some rugs in the hallway between room and bathroom would go a long way to making it so that another guest getting up to use the bathroom, or arriving back to their room late in the evening, isn't REALLY audible and distracting. Thankfully I'd brought ear plugs, but I still cringed a bit at my own inability to move quietly when I had to get up first thing in the morning, worried that I might disturb someone else with my moving around.

Not bad, but angled ceilings meant you had to stoop over a lot to avoid bumping your head. One of staff was ill in the morning so no breakfast, but received a $20 discount and helped with where else we could eat.

Check in was horrible. Showed up a few mins after 4PM and no on was on site to check is in. Called the number provided and right to voicemail. Finally one of the other guests trying to check in got someone to come to the front desk and get us a key. Nice place to stay but I’ll stay somewhere else next time that is more professional

Looked better online. No greeting when we arrived. Rang the bell, no answer. Had to make a long distance call to contact reception. No comments on the area or instructions. Very strange.

Cute spot, fair price. Would stay again if I needed to. Staff not readily available at times however.

Curtains falling off. No towels in room. Had to wait 15 for someone to arrive and check us in. Had to was 6+ hours for towels. Place is showing it’s age and badly need a refresh

The location of the Inn, on the town’s main street was fantastic for walking, with easy access to to restaurants and shops. Beaches only a short drive awawy.

Beautiful grand house built in 1904. Architecture and decor is amazing. Nice, quiet room was comfortable. Walking options are great: one direction you can walk the length of Main St; the other direction towards the walking trails along the harbour. Really enjoyable with nice breakfast.

The room was very clean and everything worked well. The parking and location is excellent.

An old B@B style hotel with friendly staff and nice rooms. It's located right in middle of Antigonish, so it's super convenient. Low on amenities and luxury but it makes up for it with atmosphere. Includes breakfast too!

Property was located perfectly in the heart of the city.

This is a fine Victorian furnished house offering a fine B&B service. It has 3 floors accessible by stairs only. A selection of breakfast items (hot and cold) are available. It is located right in the centre of Antigonish, close to restaurants and other amenities.

Nice Victorian Inn but needs some attention. Railings loose on Front steps. Room spacious but no closet to hang coats up. No microwave, fridge or coffee maker in room but we’re not told they all existed for use in the dr. So coffee was available all day after we discovered it. Bathroom needed some meticulous cleaning. Bed very comfortable. Great location Breakfast was fine but sausages first day were bad but French toast next day excellent. No juice or fresh fruit - pretty basic. Nice dr in the turret. Not bad really for decor- outside back fire escape needed a paint job or replacement. Charming but not up to modern standard for cleanliness or service

The room was decent. The property is quite old. It was clean and the breakfast included was great. It was an ordered breakfast and not one of them terrible continental ones.

Breakfast was served a bit late ( from 8:00 am) and only 1 position from menu was available. E.g. if you ordered eggs and toast you could not get yogurt or oatmeal.

The Breakfast was really good and had some options. It was also table service which was nice with real eggs cooked the way you like them.

Breakfast area was a bit small, and one person seemed to be cooking and serving, and was pretty organized, but so busy, didn’t provide too much attention to customers.

Property needs thorough cleaning as bath shower stall is moldy! No space to put personal toiletries inside bathroom. No breakfast available on second day as cook sick gave us $24 refund however staff should have alternative cook/ staff?? Otherwise we like this town of Antigonish

Breakfast was included howevervthey served hot dogs instead of sausages. They asked when we wwanted breakfast, we said 8:30. We were there at 8 and no coffee. 8:30 no stff to be seen. 9 I rang the bell and the staff said the breakfast guy was aslepp and he banged on the door. One orher coule waied and left without breakfast. The room was clean, and the location was awesome. The staff did not welcome or acknowleddge us on arrival.

Great downtown location, antique style furniture, beautiful wood floors and balustrades, high ceilings, comfortable enough beds and very comfortable pillows. One complaint--breakfast hour closed purportedly at 9:30. We arrived in the breakfast room 9:00. No one was there and not even the whiff of coffee perfumed the air nor was even a continental-style leftover. The inn promises a hot breakfast. When we contacted the desk person, he told us the kitchen closed at 9. I don't believe the kitchen opened at all that morning. Lovely place to stay but I'd suggest affirming the kitchen will be available when checking in. It may make it so...
