Charlie's El Nido Managed by HII

We stayed five nights at Charlie’s El Nido. We had fairly high expectations, as this was one of the most expensive hotels we booked during our six month trip through Southeast Asia (around $100 per night). Unfortunately, the experience ended up being quite disappointing. We booked a standard room and were placed on a basement floor. That wouldn’t have been a big issue, but it was quite a long walk with luggage and there is no elevator. The room itself was extremely small, with barely any space to move around and no room for a chair. The hotel also seemed to have a sewage issue. Both in the bathroom and around the resort there was a strong sewage smell throughout the day. In addition, we only had hot water for two of the five nights. We had to walk to reception twice to report it. Our room key card also stopped working twice, which meant additional trips to reception to get it reactivated. The WiFi barely worked and requires access codes that need to be re entered regularly. Housekeeping was also confusing. At check in we were told cleaning is only done upon request, yet the first morning housekeeping knocked on our door asking if we wanted the room cleaned. The following day no one came, even though we had left the used towels on the floor. On the positive side, the pool area is nice (although sunbeds were often occupied), the staff are very friendly and helpful, and we were offered a free airport shuttle. Still, we don’t feel it was worth the money.

A nice hotel with free shuttle bus from/to the airport, city centre, and beach. The staff were super nice, the hotel was mostly clean (pool had algae), and okay food.

Staff were amazing, guys at the bar were fun and attentive, breakfast was great & they accommodated dietary restrictions, rooms were better than pictured. We will definitely be coming back. This place was way better than being in downtown el nido & offered a more resort-like experience. The shuttles are great and on-time.

I loved this property. The Charlie's Villa was a dream stay for our family! It was so spacious and had it's own private pool. The bartender was fabulous. Easy to get free transportation into town and Lio beach. It was 5 star.

Stay here was a bit disappointing for the price. Room view overlooked hallway, place was very noisy and power kept going out at dinner and no hot water in shower. Pluses - near airport and van/shuttle into town but recommend you look at other options. Wasn’t bad experience but for price we expected more.

Family of 6. Stayed in April 2025. The resort was clean, modern, and ideal for families. We booked two family rooms with balconies overlooking the pool. Staff were friendly, and the breakfast buffet had a good variety. We also had dinner at the restaurant, where staff kindly sang for a family member’s birthday. Food was delicious. The two pools were perfect, and rooms had air-conditioning. The balcony had a rack for drying swimsuits—very convenient. A couple of issues, though: 1. **Egg station at breakfast** needs improvement. The chef was by themself and confused, and orders were delayed and got mixed up. Guests were waiting too long or taking eggs that weren’t theirs because they did not want to wait any longer. Suggest assigning a second staff member to take and manage orders by table number. Our daughter didn’t even get her eggs until we were finished eating. 2. **Shuttle coordination for private tours** was disappointing. Our tour ended early, but there was no shuttle back. The front desk told us to wait an hour, pay for private shuttle, or pay for tricycles. We paid a premium for the private tour and expected better coordination. Staff insisted we use their shuttle but failed to provide return service without extra cost. It felt disorganized and unprofessional. We had a rental car and we could’ve just used our own car if we knew this would happen. Despite these issues, the resort was still a pleasant and relaxing place to stay.

The pool by the bar was very clean and attractive, but that was not the one that joined my room. Other than that I enjoyed my stay. Hope you correct this for your future tenants. Checking in was pretty seamless. They have shuttle service to pick you up from the airport which was pretty nice. Lio airport is 5 mins of a driving distance from Charlie’s. One thing to note, the property is about a 30-min walk to the beach. It’s not conveniently located on the beach. You have to consider humidity also. I didn’t see a lot of tourists walk to the beach. Most people use e-bikes and/or a tricycle/tuctuc. Amenities: the photos show an option to get a private pool in your room but really all they have is a private access to the pool for some rooms. The rooms are spacious but the AC doesn’t cool it off on a hot day. Service: was outstanding. If anything about this place, their excellent service balances out the other things that can be better, such as the food. Breakfast Buffet: was okay. I think they recycle food at times. I would rate the breakfast buffet a 4/10 as compared to food in hotels in Manila. They do the best they can. I’m also not sure how fresh the food is because we both got diarrhea towards the last 2 days of our stay and kinda ruined the rest of our trip. Bar: they have a 10/10 frozen Calamansi Margarita by Reven the bar tender. Gym: there’s a gym with limited upper body equipment and free weights. There’s also a yoga room. Jay-R from the front desk was very helpful and always went above and beyond.

I wouldn’t stay there again. I’m not sure why but there is a heavy odour that is coming from downstairs. We booked this hotel because it has a gym but we were unable to use it simply because the smell in that area was unbearable. The chocolate in the room fridge they placed for a fee is covered in mould, like it is sitting there for years. We also didn’t have a hot water on the first day. Neither we had a good experience at the restaurant, staff forgot about our order, we waited nearly an hour to eventually have grilled squid to arrive uncooked. Breakfast bar is decent, lots of choices. The location is near construction site but there was no noise. It is 6 mins away from Lio beach that is very beautiful and has lots of restaurants. The hotel offers free rides to the town and to the beach.

Some misunderstanding between booking office and the reception was the answer, but they paid for our tricycle. It was a nice and modern hotel. Not a resort for pool relaxing because they only have few sun beds and always occupied. Even towels were few. Always in laundry was the answer. The rooms were tiny and dark. Always humid and moist. All our clothes and even bed linens felt wet. The food was tasty and good. But as in many places the service isn’t very fast. Long waiting times, from order to waiting even if they weren’t crowded. They were really keen on the allergies and made some offer to try to fix things. Even if they had spring rolls med of rice paper on the menu, of course the rice paper were out of stock they didn’t got new for our whole stay. As much others. No Cola Zero. Out of French fries and so on. They’re not quick to clean used glasses around pool area. Our tv didn’t work. They had not a great interest in trying to make it work. Our door lock same thing.. Good thing is the free shuttle to ElNido, LioBeach and the airport. Upon checkout I got the question how the stay was, my hesitation in answer and that it didn’t fulfill my expectations I didn’t got any reaction or questions how they could have done better. Don’t ask the question if you don’t want the answer.

Our stay at Charlie’s El Nido was absolutely perfect from start to finish. 🌴✨ The resort is modern, peaceful, and beautifully designed — everything feels fresh and well cared for. The pool was stunning and such a relaxing place to spend time, and our room was spacious, spotless, and very comfortable. What really made the difference was the staff. Every single person we interacted with was warm, professional, and genuinely thoughtful — they made us feel so welcome and taken care of. The service here truly goes above and beyond. The breakfast buffet and restaurant food were excellent, with plenty of variety and consistently delicious meals. We also appreciated the convenient shuttle service to town and Lio Beach, which made exploring easy while still being able to return to the quiet comfort of the resort. This was one of the best resort experiences we’ve had in the Philippines. If you’re looking for a relaxing getaway in El Nido with top-notch service, modern facilities, and a tranquil atmosphere, Charlie’s is the place to be. Highly recommended!

For value of money, a la carte breakfast is below par. Not much choice for those whose booking didn’t include breakfast. Puto bumbong and bibingka a great addition. Staff are excellent, friendly, efficient. Hotel is inconvenient except for shuttle but it’s per schedule. The pool made up for the vexation. Booked superior twin room and it was so tiny, no space to move for two people. I had to upgrade to family room and cost me more plus breakfast was also not included. In all, it proved to be expensive for me. Booked through WOTIF who failed to follow up on my complaint. The booking was for El Nido but system recommended Puerto Princesa advising it is nearer the place of accommodation I’ve chosen. I ended up paying another $900 approx to book from MNL to ENI direct per family suggestion as van from PUERTO to El Nido will be sheer punishment for my 72 years. The air fare could not be refunded, flight destination could not be changed, flight unable to be cancelled. WOTIF not of any help, bad customer service.

Nolitz was a wonderful waiter! He was very polite and friendly. All of the staff at the front desk and the shuttle driver were very warm and pleasant. Thankyou for the wonderful stay Charlie’s!

Airport shuttle took forever, stranded at the airport for almost an hour. Food in the restaurant is subpar at best.

Staff were fabulous! They were very kind and attentive to our every needs. Breakfast was good. Enough varieties that will make anyone full. They have a live egg/omelette station. We were upgraded the first night to a Premiere room because they oversold the rooms. That room was beautiful, but the next day we had to wait for the original room we booked to become clean and available. That room with 2 beds was all right. It was clean so we didn't mind. I would recommend this hotel to my friends and family, and we would definitely stay here again.

Bon hôtel moderne tout confort. Seul problème il est à 20 minutes du centre-ville. Il y a un service de navette organisée par l’hôtel mais à heures fixes. Ne pas manquer la plage Lio en contrebas de l’hôtel très agréable surtout en fin de journée. Essayer le restaurant méditerranéen Punta Playa. On recommande l’hôtel et le restaurant

Det var et rigtig fint hotel. Værelset var fint også. Eneste ulempe var, at det ligger ca 15 min udenfor byen. Hotellet har en bus til/fra byen et par gange om dagen. Personalet er meget hjælpsomme. Morgenmad var stor buffet. Kom der to gange. Første gang, lige da de åbnede og alt var fint. Næste gang ca en time før de sluttede. Der var absolut intet tilbage, og personalet kunne slet ikke overskue at skulle fylde op samtidig med de skulle rydde op efter gæsterne. Hotellet havde inkluderet transport til/fra lufthavn.

I really enjoyed my stay. The staff was amazing. The hotel is a little further from town but I liked that part of it. El Nido is busy and loud. You can rent a scooter and be in town within minutes. I’ll definitely stay again.

Our daughter didn’t even get her eggs until we were finished eating. 2. **Shuttle coordination for private tours** was disappointing. Our tour ended early, but there was no shuttle back. The front desk told us to wait an hour, pay for private shuttle, or pay for tricycles. We paid a premium for the private tour and expected better coordination. Staff insisted we use their shuttle but failed to provide return service without extra cost. It felt disorganized and unprofessional. We had a rental car and we could’ve just used our own car if we knew this would happen. Despite these issues, the resort was still a pleasant and relaxing place to stay.

Our stay at Charlie’s El Nido was absolutely perfect from start to finish. 🌴✨ The resort is modern, peaceful, and beautifully designed — everything feels fresh and well cared for. The pool was stunning and such a relaxing place to spend time, and our room was spacious, spotless, and very comfortable. What really made the difference was the staff. Every single person we interacted with was warm, professional, and genuinely thoughtful — they made us feel so welcome and taken care of. The service here truly goes above and beyond. The breakfast buffet and restaurant food were excellent, with plenty of variety and consistently delicious meals. We also appreciated the convenient shuttle service to town and Lio Beach, which made exploring easy while still being able to return to the quiet comfort of the resort. This was one of the best resort experiences we’ve had in the Philippines. If you’re looking for a relaxing getaway in El Nido with top-notch service, modern facilities, and a tranquil atmosphere, Charlie’s is the place to be. Highly recommended!

Det var et rigtig fint hotel. Værelset var fint også. Eneste ulempe var, at det ligger ca 15 min udenfor byen. Hotellet har en bus til/fra byen et par gange om dagen. Personalet er meget hjælpsomme. Morgenmad var stor buffet. Kom der to gange. Første gang, lige da de åbnede og alt var fint. Næste gang ca en time før de sluttede. Der var absolut intet tilbage, og personalet kunne slet ikke overskue at skulle fylde op samtidig med de skulle rydde op efter gæsterne. Hotellet havde inkluderet transport til/fra lufthavn.

Checking in was pretty seamless. They have shuttle service to pick you up from the airport which was pretty nice. Lio airport is 5 mins of a driving distance from Charlie’s. One thing to note, the property is about a 30-min walk to the beach. It’s not conveniently located on the beach. You have to consider humidity also. I didn’t see a lot of tourists walk to the beach. Most people use e-bikes and/or a tricycle/tuctuc. Amenities: the photos show an option to get a private pool in your room but really all they have is a private access to the pool for some rooms. The rooms are spacious but the AC doesn’t cool it off on a hot day. Service: was outstanding. If anything about this place, their excellent service balances out the other things that can be better, such as the food. Breakfast Buffet: was okay. I think they recycle food at times. I would rate the breakfast buffet a 4/10 as compared to food in hotels in Manila. They do the best they can. I’m also not sure how fresh the food is because we both got diarrhea towards the last 2 days of our stay and kinda ruined the rest of our trip. Bar: they have a 10/10 frozen Calamansi Margarita by Reven the bar tender. Gym: there’s a gym with limited upper body equipment and free weights. There’s also a yoga room. Jay-R from the front desk was very helpful and always went above and beyond.

I wouldn’t stay there again. I’m not sure why but there is a heavy odour that is coming from downstairs. We booked this hotel because it has a gym but we were unable to use it simply because the smell in that area was unbearable. The chocolate in the room fridge they placed for a fee is covered in mould, like it is sitting there for years. We also didn’t have a hot water on the first day. Neither we had a good experience at the restaurant, staff forgot about our order, we waited nearly an hour to eventually have grilled squid to arrive uncooked. Breakfast bar is decent, lots of choices. The location is near construction site but there was no noise. It is 6 mins away from Lio beach that is very beautiful and has lots of restaurants. The hotel offers free rides to the town and to the beach.
