Yugo Guest Suites

The guest suites are great for short stays or even week long stays. Full size refrigerator and washer and dryer in the rooms.

Top Highlights: Very clean and well-maintained. Rooms are newly furnished and nicely updated. Washer and dryer available in the unit for longer stays. Needs Improvement: There’s no staff available outside of check-in hours. If you need help or want to check out, no one is around, a self-service kiosk would really help. This is not a traditional hotel, and guests cannot use amenities in the building. Parking is limited due to a busy bakery and coffee shop next door. You may need to park across the street or behind the building, which isn’t ideal, especially at night or in bad weather. Hallways are very dark and could use better lighting. Toilet paper ran out, and since no staff were available, I had to go out and buy my own. TV is very basic, you must sign in with your own streaming accounts.

I’ve stayed here a few times when visiting my son at U of I & overall, like it. Minor things I don’t like - but would not stop me from staying again - 1. The AC kept turning off when the temp hit a certain level & I woke up at night very warm every night: 2. One of the bathroom drawers was broken during our last stay; 3. The layout of the studio suite prevents you from easily watching TV while laying in bed because there is a big cabinet in the way. 4. You have to bring your own blow dryer. Things I like - 1. Overall clean & modern decor; 2. Easy parking. 3. Close to U of I; 4. Nice bakery on 1st floor but pricey, but there’s also an Einstein Bagels across the street. 4. Full size frig & kitchen & washer/dryer.

Room had everything we needed for the weekend. Communication was good and parking was easy. A little bit of a walk to restaurants but not far.

Stayed here for one night. It's set up like a big efficiency apartment. It had a full-size washer, dryer, which my visiting college student daughter took advantage of to do a bunch of laundry. The cooking area is a galley-style kitchenette with a range and microwave plus a full size fridge. Parking was free and in a small lot right outside the building. ​Just a heads-up on two things: 1. ​It's pretty quiet most of the time, but there's a fire department nearby. So you will hear sirens occasionally during the night. ​2. The horizontal blinds let in a ton of light so if you're a sensitive sleeper, pack an eye mask. ​Overall, comfortable and loved having the full-sized appliances!

Our room was extremely clean, parking was easy, and accessible. Rae, the hotel manager is wonderful and very responsive! Highly recommend this hotel

Unit smelled from previous guest who cooked. Every time I walked in, I wanted to gag. There was hair on the floor from previous guests in the restroom. Was not cleaned thoroughly. Also—key card got demagnetized. Lobby is only staffed during certain hours. I was lucky and had to wait only 1/2 an hour for the office to open to get it fixed. I was worried all weekend when there was no staff that the card would be demagnetized again. There also was not enough hotel parking as the overflow was closed off due to the area being fixed. Had to look for parking on the street a couple nights. Good location, nice staff—but given all these issues, would not stay here again nor recommend it.

Here's the good: The room was very clean and very well lit. The building feels safe and secure. The in-room laundry and kitchen was convenient. The bathroom fan was quiet. The bed was comfortable. There is no breakfast provided, but the BakeLab coffee and pastry shop in the lobby is first rate, worthy of a visit, even if not staying at the hotel. An Einstein's Bagel shop is across the street is another breakfast option. The room had a small sofa and lot of cabinet space to place belongings. The hotel location is convenient to the U of I campus and the Carle Hospital. Here's some issues: Our room faced the street so there was a fair amount of traffic noise. The room HVAC system was noisy and blew cold air for a while before the heat came out. There was a small table, but only one chair was provided, even though there was plenty of room for another chair.(Perhaps larger rooms have 2 chairs?) There was a very nice TV, but there was no practical way to watch it from the bed or the sofa. Another reason a second chair would have been nice. The reception is staffed only limited hours. We arrived late, so our key was left in a lockbox. While this worked OK and we had good communication from the staff, it's a bit disconcerting not to see a single staff member anytime during a four- night stay.

I always enjoy staying at this hotel. However! The last two times has been average because of the tub draining issues.

Love the setup of room with kitchenette and washer and dryer. Room was not that clean. Had to wipe down and spray aall areas. Found hair on tub and bedside table and floor. Price is reasonable for stay. This could eadily be a 5 star rating if place was cleaner.

My overall stay was good. There are some things that were not as good: 1. Stains on the sofa 2. Stains on the desk chair in bedroom 3. Oven is dirty 4. Some of the dishes required me to wash as they weren’t properly cleaned. 5. One of the plastic cooking spoons is nearly melted and cannot be used. While these issues aren’t big they are important and was admittedly disappointed. Feedback and suggestions: 1. Consider a step stool for those of us who are shorter as some of the dishes were difficult to reach without a chair. 2. Consider adding some baking sheet or pan. I specifically got this room so that I can make something to eat. 3. I was disappointed in the fact that I sent this information directly to Yugo via their email with absolutely no response.

The property is unique, because it is basically an apartment, not just a hotel room. There is a full kitchen and laundry. Everything is very new and modern, well designed for beauty and function. The room was very clean in some ways, but there was food and hair on the floor in places. The manager was wonderful, and helped me out as soon as I reported it.

Yes the room was great. Setup was great. Everything was clean and tidy. A perfect fit for us and wished we had a longer stay. Staff was great and super courteous.

Extremely soft uncomfortable bed. Dirty dishes in dishwasher upon arrival. No dish towel or paper towels in kitchen. No wine glasses. Hair on sofa, which was also uncomfortable and sagging. The only chair was wobbly and needed repair. The clock was set to wrong time, which we didn't realize until getting up an hour earlier than necessary.

Tenants above room a little noisy at night and of course being by the street was noisy as well.

The room was spacious, bed was comfortable, and the location was excellent. I would stay there again. But the room had an odd configuration so that you can’t watch tv from the bed or the sofa. I ended up pulling the sofa out to the middle of the room so I could watch a movie in comfort. The TV was confusing - some directions would help. I couldn’t figure out how to watch ESPN so just gave up. To watch a movie on Netflix you have to log in to your personal account. The thermostat was wonky - directions would help here too. I’d try to turn up the heat, but it never got to the warmer temperature. So my stay was good, but not great.

This is a great place to stay except for the bed which is way too small for two people to sleep comfortably. The room was designed as a dorm room for a single person. Otherwise a great idea with great amenities and a great location. I would recommend the Yugo for younger, smaller body types .

The thermostat in the room did not allow for the air conditioner to be turned on. It was quite warm in the room throughout the stay. In addition, neither of the TVs worked. Although they would come on periodically with the remotes, no functionality beyond that was possible.

Well-equipped, moderately-priced, modern studio with an easy walk to the university. Minor bummers: the coffee shop downstairs has only paper cups, so one can't enjoy an espresso properly. Windows don't open (but AC works well and quietly). Would stay again, happily.

Sofa horrible, the rest of the suite was wonderful. Perfect for long stay, lots of storage. Great washer and dryer. Could use more pots and pans. And glass stove top cleaner. Bake Lab was a real positive, super morning and lunch pastries.

Very poor management. Check in time is 3PM, we arrived at around 3:15PM, we were told that the room is not cleaned yet, need to wait until 4:30PM. we stayed in the car and came back around 4:35PM, we got the key and walked to the suite, the bed is messy, it’s not cleaned yet, we went back to the office and told the manager, the office manager tried to talk with cleaner, and let us wait again, the office was closed at 5:00PM, until 5:40PM, the room was ready finally. Another poor experience is the noisy, the people above our suite walked around in his from all the night time and all the morning time, walked around and jumped, we cannot sleep until midnight.

The property is generally great. However, the front desk operating time is really limited. It may not be a good choice for those who require more flexibilities or assistances by the desk.

I loved this hotel. My only issue was no receptionists at the from desk. I needed two parking passes and when I called and emailed no one came to bring me a pass. I was nervous the whole time I was here because I thought my car was going to get towed. My suggestion is to have a receptionist at the front desk from 7:00 am to 9:00pm

I like that there was a locker/dropbox for room key when the staff was not around. But the communication can definitely be improved.

This was a great place. I experienced only one hiccup where the lockbox code was mistyped to me so I had to stay outside for a bit of time at night trying different codes before I finally got it to open so I could retrieve my door key. Other than that, the studio room was new, clean, and perfect size.

Clean unit. Ac did not work and unit did not have windows that you could open. I was told after I would be changed to another unit and to call the front desk. When I did, I was advised by text that front desk was closed until 12pm on Sunday. Made my stay very uncomfortable with no AC.

No one at the deskand poor communicaton. Not able to access facilities including gym. No house keeping service. Had to ask to change towel everyday.

Clean, within walking distance to the quad, easy check in and out.

Nice room, clean, convient to campus and hospitals

I am a travel, nurse, and this accommodation is nearly right across the street from my current assignment. I feel super safe. The apartment was very clean and beautifully decorated. The bed was comfortable and there was really no outside noise or noise from other residence. It’s the best place I’ve stayed yet.

I ended up pulling the sofa out to the middle of the room so I could watch a movie in comfort. The TV was confusing - some directions would help. The bakery on the first floor is awesome.

Only great part is the BakeLab within the facility.

The place was very new, clean, awesome pastry company in lobby. Tons of places to eat around the area. Thr room we got was extremely noise all night with cars noises, honking, ambulance noises with our room facing the main road. The worse thing was I sat at the front desk for 20 mins waiting to get checked in and a key. There was a sign that said be right back, but no one came. After 30 mins of waiting and trying to call the phone number in reservation and no answer. I found a very nice gentleman in the leasing office. He jumped right in and helped. If it wasn’t for this professional and nice gentleman helping us, we wouldn’t have gotten checked in at all. No communication from phone or email.

We stayed here while visiting our student daughter. The kitchen makes it great value. The smell of the coffee shop downstairs is wonderful! Blueberry pastry is delicious. Loved having a full size washing machine.

Great value! Just loved the suite, the bed was so comfortable. The table was perfect for small meals at home, laundry was excellent. Lighting was great, lovely atmosphere. Downstairs the bakery is super.
