It was a steep hill to climb with luggage. Taxi's were not available even though the website said you can take a taxi. The Hotel has many levels and no elevator. Given that we were fit we managed to drag our suitcases up the hill. Not very accessible for people with disabilities. We enjoyed our stay the room was minimally appointed. The aesthetics were simple & clean.

Unique spot near Miyanoura port area. Facilities are incomparable! We stayed at Wenger House, a separate 2-bedroom apartment, living room and fire inside! Private sauna inside! Great for a family, comfort and privacy.

We stayed in the Peak Cottage and it was amazing! The cottage was the perfect amount of rustic charm, with the best view ever. We loved having the private sauna and the air conditioning in the cottage was nice to have for the hot nights. We wish we could stay longer! We would definitely come back. Note that to book the Peak Cottage, it’s important to be able bodied because it’s accessible by stairs only. We enjoyed seeing the local cats around outside, so charming!

We enjoyed the location of this little hotel. We had a corner room and were disappointed to see the windows were very dirty. The hotel might consider adding some electric candles to the dinner tables to elevate the vibe as it’s pretty utilitarian. Overall, a good value for the money. 👍

The design and size of our room was great. Hard beds but soft pillows made for good sleep. We had two walls of windows with views to water in two directions. It was difficult to find and uphill. Then stairs to your room. Consider keeping luggage at the lockers in the port. Also, you have to turn on the refrigerator and hot water heater. Works well for those who can travel light and do stairs and hills easily.

Very small room simply decorated, even tinnier shower. Nice view from balcony. Long stairway to second floor rooms, don’t carry heavy baggage. Restaurants hard to find after dark, especially when you drive, impossible to turn into narrow lanes. Kaoshima has amazing museums, but biking and walking are best left for the young and healthy.

It’s only a 10 minute walk from ferry terminal but steep uphill all the way. Excellent on site dinner options multi course and well prepared. Breakfast is more European than Japanese. Meat heavy . I miss the vegetable options seen at other hotels. Drip coffee rather than espresso machine. Very nice staff and mostly responsive to emails. The website for luggage delivery from port is hard to use / translation didn’t work on all spaces -and the staff wouldn’t help so I had to lug suitcase up the hill on arrival.

Great stay. We started in one of the small double bed rooms because that night, the larger suites were booked out. Though small, still clean and comfortable. We then switched to the corner suite and it was very spacious and had a spectacular view. All furniture and interiors are designed with Muji furniture. Only caveat is the walk up the hill to get to the hotel. However, if you have an e-bike rental, it’s not too bad.

Very nice people but it’s up a steep hill and hard find in the dark. Very few taxis on the island so you have to do a lot of walking to get there from the ferry terminal The rooms are super clean and new but our room in the B building was not very soundproof. Good breakfast and helpful staff.

Great stay, mini sauna with exterior bath is fantastic. Interior doors etc are mostly sliding so don't expect privacy. Front door lock is very "sticky". The house is a bit up a hill, but you get a very nice view for the effort, great stay.

Staff is terrible, we asked about lunch they replied that they are starting to work from 6pm, we came after 6pm they replied that we don’t have reservation and they will not provide food for us, we been tier after 6h traveling, also my wife was cold, we asked transfer to some restaurant, taxi they refused us to help they said straight forward walk… outside was only 4C, my wife left w/o dinner. Also terrible access to hotel, you have to clime to steep hill will luggage, no shuttle service. Staff is like from another galaxy, manager refused to meet and talk

It was great to be within walking distance to the port but in bad weather this is tricky with bags as it is an uphill walk at some parts. It would be good if My Lodge provided accessibility information and warning about this. There is limited taxi service on the island so it would be good to know this too. Go with as little luggage as possible due to access issues and space constraints. Otherwise pleasant dining area when open. It would be good if this space was open for use like a lounge during the day.

wonderful, nice view, nice place, nice staff. only to note its location is far up on the hill so recommend to take 1 of the 2 taxis on the island when you arrive with your luggages.

The room was clean, contemporary with a great balcony and view of the bay. We love the hilltop hotel but it was a challenge for us, as senior citizens, to get there. Long 10-12 min. walk up hill from the port with three main steep stairs to move within the facility. If we were younger, not an issue.

Es war wundervoll, vor allem die Aussicht. Sehr großes Zimmer, super nettesTeam im Haus, fabelhaft. Ich habe einen Stern abgezogen, weil ich es schöner gefunden hätte, wenn die Küche nicht europäisch gewesen wäre. Die Portionen waren sehr klein, geschmeckt hat es gut. Frühstück war auch eher europäisch, lokal wäre für mich das Tüpfelchen auf dem i gewesen. Leider auch kein Yukata auf dem Zimmer, für den Preis hätte ich mir das gewünscht. Aber unbedingt zu empfehlen!

I had a room with a great view of the ocean and other islands. What I did not have was food during the two nights they closed the restaurant. Not only was the hotel restaurant closed, so was food delivery, and almost everything else in this small town. That was not fun!!
