Candlewood Suites Belle Vernon by IHG

We stay at this hotel on a regular basis for business and it is a decent place.. Only pet peeve is the fact that there is always trash thrown around the parking lot and grassy areas.. Granted, people are pigs, but it wouldn't hurt for management to take a walk around the building once a day and pick up the beer cans, bottles, etc... I was there from Friday to Monday and the same trash was there the whole time..

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was not very clean as I switched from 2nd to 4th floor upon arrival. Overall a good experience. Dog friendly but no pool.

Place was clean, however this hotel allows pets be prepared to possibly being woken up to nonstop barking early in the morning like I was and when I called front desk many times and they would not answer the phone. Also the coffee machine grounds were full and didn't seem to care to keep it accessible for morning. Below average rating for me

Traveling for business and had a deadline to submit but their wi-fi was down. I spoke to two different front desk men throughout the course of 8 hours, trying to get it situated and had no luck. They were both nice, but not at all sure of how to fix it and didn't really seem as if they were looking in to the issue. The recliner in my suite was broken but they brought a new one in, so that was ok. It wasn't the cleanest, the doors all had dirty handprints all over them and no dishes in the kitchenette were clean, but I just used the microwave. I paid $5 for a freezer burnt popsicle in the little "convenience store", but I guess that's the "convenience" price. I know the front desk workers can't control all the issues, but they were extremely friendly and that goes a long way, I'm definitely torn in my opinion based on their friendliness, but I definitely would have liked to received some sort of compensation for all the issues. I'll definitely try another hotel in this area before returning here, though.

We stayed at this property after and during a snow event. While the parking lot was relatively clear, the sideways and curb access was not as clear of snow as it could be. Our room had a full kitchen/kitchenette which included a full size refrigerator which was very nice but there was only a small top shelf in it - no other shelves were there. The small cooktop met our needs just fine but the room was billed as accommodating 4 people and there was not enough silverware, plates, cups, etc to accommodate 4 people. There were some pots and pans but they were not properly cleaned and had a some bad scorch marks on them that couldn't be removed. There was a long desk/credenza that provided a place to eat but there were not enough chairs for 4 people to sit and eat. The room itself and the property overall was neat and clean. The staff who worked at the front desk were very friendly and welcoming. We also traveled with our two small dogs - which was a major factor in selecting this hotel - and it was wonderful to be able to have our dogs with us and the staff again was super accommodating. The property is in a very transit area which is a good thing - lots of fast food dining options and shopping and easy on/off access to Route 70. Overall we had a pleasant stay and experience

Upon arriving at the hotel the receptionist was asleep at the desk and had to be woken up. When going to our room the key card did not work. My husband went back to the desk and they apologized saying that they told us the wrong room number so we were trying to get into the wrong room. It gets worse. This was the only hotel that I have EVER stayed at that did not provide daily room service. I would not have even minded if it didn’t need anything, but We stayed for 6 nights and the staff did not enter our room even ONCE to make beds, change linens, provide clean towels, remove trash, etc. nothing. We had to take our used wet towels to the front to ask for clean towels. We had only one roll of toilet paper in the room for four people over 5 days/6 nights and we had to ask for more toilet paper. Little trash cans were full and when my husband emptied the trash cans himself and took to the front where the staff pointed him to where the dumpsters were. The rooms definitely needed updating. It was just gross. The gym looked decent, though we never ended up using it. Would definitely not recommend this hotel. It was quite a disappointment.

Lacked cleanliness!!! Same trash on floors on hallway two days. Never addressed our room in between days of stay. Tv was terrible.

It smelled like fish in the hallways, rooms were dirty, trash in the closet, shower gross, beds stained with what looked like residual ejaculation. Poor lighting in the rooms. We refused to stay. Still waiting to make sure they dont charge me as I had made reservations 2 months prior.

Unfortunately when we arrived the rooms were not clean, we arrived at 930p, check in at 3p. The hotel was humid and had an unpleasant odor. The room was not cleaned thoroughly and the towels were stained. The fridge had food from previous guest and freezer was overflowing with ice. The staff was friendly and apologetic. But I would not stay here again.

Blood stains on the sheets. Sticky bathroom floor.

They have roaches.

This is the dirtiest hotel I have ever stayed in! The exhaust fan in the bathroom was almost closed from all the dust. The sheets had a combination of blood, fingernail polish, brown and black stains. Fingerprint and smears were on almost everything. But hey, the fridge was clean. And the cleark was sleeping with her head on the counter when I went down to check out. I took picture of her and many other of these things I listed. Pay the extra and stay somewhere else!

The room was dirty

We found a cockroach on the sink, there is dirty/moldy dishes in the cabinets, the shampoo and conditioner holder was broken and rusted, the elevator smells like wet dog and looks like it hasn't been cleabed in weeks. Outside the main door smells like cat pee. I've never had this many problems until now.

Filthy. Staff was nice. Trash bags in the hall. Cabinets did not shut. Refrigerator stunk. Bowl under bathroom sink because it leaked. Did not stay. Don’t care if I loose money.

When I checked in, I was sent to a room that was not cleaned and ready for a new occupant. The beds were not made, there was dishes in the sink, and there was items left from the last occupants. The new room has dirty sheets and baby roaches in the shower. When I asked for the sheets to be changed. I was given new sheets in a white plastic trash bag and was expected to change the sheets myself because there were no housekeeping staff available.

We have stayed here before but it’s been a while since our last visit. This time it is just clear there is no upkeep in this hotel. Everything looks old. Starting with the room door, it’s supposed to be white but it just has lots of dirt marks, it’s the same for all of the other rooms. The AC in the room smells like it’s burning when ON. I don’t think we will be coming back.

Mostly clean, check in and out good, clean room and had the necessities. Beds not sturdy or comfortable. However, please take down, because it's not true, the part about soundproofed... heard people from hallway, beside, and above us. True sound proofing doesn't have a window, I call bs.

it's a good, fresh 3-star hotel. Kitchen is equipped with everything you need. Great customer service at the front desk

The stove was not working in room 114. The kitchenware was limited but handy. The room was clean and comfortable. I had a great stay at the Candlewood.😃

Bed was comfortable, staff was friendly, but slow. Overall though, the hotel did not look like it was in good shape. Rooms looked old and warm down. Showers were the same. Not a super comfortable stay. Definitely needs to be upgraded.

Spacious room with kitchen and desk. Comfortable furnishings. Lots of restaurants to choose from. Close to HWY. Quiet room.

We choose Candlewood EVERY time we visit family in that area. Clean, quiet and great customer service is why we continue to support this location! Special thanks to Floyd and Winston who were amazing to interact with.

Overall property was good, had to change rooms but not a big issue. Staff was nice and accommodating.

The lobby appearance and elevator smell were not good. But the room made up for those issues. The night front desk clerk on the 22nd was helpful and friendly. The morning front desk clerk is a GEM and an asset to the hotel. She was so kind and friendly

This is the Hotel from Hell. The service is terrible. Only one clerk to handle everything. My first room had a front door that would not close and lock. They switched me to another room on a different floor. The key did not work on that room. After 15 minutes they brought me a key that worked. The TV would not turn on and it took over 2 hours to get that resolved. Then they overcharged me $300. The manager could not be contacted for a week to try and get this resolved. It is still not resolved. Don't stay here. The rooms are broken and there is mold in the shower. The kitchen has junk for glassware and flatware. There is trash in the hallway in the morning and stays there for hours. There are better places, for less money within a block. I stayed there before and it was great. Not anymore. The staff is worthless.

Checked into the first room which was dirty with towels and trash on the floor....2nd room was not cleaned and 3rd room was 2 queens and not the king we booked. At midnight a guest entered our room! 10 minutes later a hotel staffer knocked and tried to get in our room and asked how we checked in???????? Terrible!

The stay was fine but I couldn't get a receipt at check out. The desk was unattended and had a note to pick up the phone to notify staff, but the portable phone to notify them was also there. I tried that several times and waited 20 minutes making me late. As I was pulling out I saw someone from the hotel sitting outside. The amenities and cleanliness of the hotel were fine. Bed was comfortable.

Dishwasher was not clean causing foul smell. Size of the room was good and location is convenient.

The overall stay was very pleasing. The location and area around the hotel could be in a more secluded area however it was nice to be in walking distance of restaurants and stores. The suite we stayed in was very nice with many amenities for the price

Nice place to stay if you are visiting California University of Pennsylvania. No free breakfast but there are plenty of options on the main road from the hotel.

We looked at two other motels in the Belle Vernon area and the rooms smelled! Even though we paid more than my husband would have liked I was appreciative of the room…clean, no odor, comfortable mattress! Evening desk clerk was great too!

Stayed the night for a concert. Quiet, nice room, very comfortable. Only issue they don't have a breakfast service. Not a big deal, just surprising.
