A beautiful property that has been renovated tastefully by the owners. Free parking at the rear of the property. Very comfortable room (we booked a superior room) and bed, good breakfast selection from continental to full English. Location is great, just a 5 minute walk into York, we really enjoyed our stay. Some nice touches, mini fridge in the room with fresh real milk (mini bar too if you wish). Home made jams, butter and bread available at breakfast, together with Paul's specials. Recommend!

Lovely property with a very handy location for the main sights in York and restaurants. Easy walking distance. Car parking behind the house (narrow lane access) with two electric charge points. Our hosts made us feel at home with a few nice touches like complementary sherry.

We have just had a wonderful 2 night stay. Private carpark which is great as once parked up it is only 5/10 min walk into the centre of York, where there is plenty to see and do. We had a lovely room on the back of the house, quiet, overlooking the garden & carpark. Lots of lovely touches, complimentary sherry & delicious homemade shortbread biscuits in our room, milk in the fridge + a select of beverages which you can purchase. Just outside our room there was plenty of teas & coffee etc to replenish if needed. There is a wonderful choice for breakfast, which you select the night before & is cooked by Paul. Homemade Irish soda bread which was delicious+ homemade butter, jams & Marmalade. I purchased a jar of Fiona's marmalade & she very kindly gave me her recipe which I will be trying out myself. Fiona & Paul are fantastic hosts.Their house is beautifully furnished, with a lounge to sit in & an honestly bar. It is steeped in history which you can read about. Paul & Fiona have thought of everything there are recommendations of where to visit & places to eat. Nothing is too much trouble & I wouldn't hesitate in recommending their lovely house or staying there again. Thank you

A very comfortable, well appointed, spacious room and ensuite, high quality toiletry products and nice touches eg the home made shortbread. Lovely short stay at well positioned property. Rooms are spotlessly clean and great breakfast (cooked to order). Monkbridge also offers parking (pre-arrange with owners) which is big plus point in and around central York. It's only a 5 - 10 minute walk to city centre so ideally located. Would highly recommend and would have no hesitation in staying here again. Best wishes to owners on a well run establishment.

A nice place just outside of the main tourist area, an easy walk to the cathedral. Has peaceful front and back gardens, too. Cooked breakfast with many options. Note that if you have rooms on the top floor, the stairs are steep.

Lovely atmosphere, lounge, garden ,clean rooms , best breakfast ever -all homemade . Nice couple ,quiet but informative. Lots of stairs not a problem for us but maybe for some. Parking on site but narrow lane so beware if you have a big car. Only 5-10 mins walk into York. We’d definitely stay there again .

Absolutely fantastic! Hosts Paul and Fiona were amazing from the moment we arrived. We got there early as planned, and Paul kindly guided us into the free parking at the back of the hotel. The room was lovely, complete with a selection of chocolates and treats available on an honesty system. And the breakfast was simply outstanding! Made with fresh local ingredients and cooked to perfection. Overall, I couldn’t recommend this place more highly! Thank you

After a stressful few weeks at work this was a much needed break to beautiful York❤️ Totally overwhelmed at the guest house we stayed at - such a beautifully restored building😍Our room had a gorgeous four poster bed, massive bathroom with huge powerful waterfall shower🚿 There was also a mini bar, complimentary homemade cookies and even a carafe of complimentary sherry💓 Paul & Fiona take such pride in their work and it shows - the customer service is perfect!! Breakfast is cooked to order & there are so many hot breakfast choices but also cereals, fruit, homemade croissants, a choice of 4 different breads for toast and the marmalade & jams are homemade. The gardens are just stunning and they also have electric car charging points. The lounge is beautiful and they have an honesty bar so at the end of the night you can have a nightcap before retiring to your room. Could not find any fault at all, absolutely loved our stay - so much so we have already booked another stay❤️ Totally love York❤️💕❤️

Very clean, comfortable, slept well. Good sizes room, very nicely decorated. (Country luxury feel) Hotel was very hospitable and friendly, the attention to detail (the little extras made it homely). Would definitely stay here again.

PERFECT. This property is just lovely and it is an easy walk to the Walls and the city within. Paul & Fiona are the nicest people and perfect hosts. Our room was excellent, our bed was comfy, everything within our room and the whole building was spotless. Couldn't fault it. Paul's cooking skills are second to none. The daily breakfast outshone anything we had during our 30 day UK adventure. Fiona was super helpful with travel tips. Parking was easy. Can't fault this property. We would definitely stay there again (and my husband isn't a fan of B&B style accommodation).

Everything was perfect, from the hosts, to the room, and location. Lovely little garden, spacious room and nice bathroom, all very clean. Breakfast was delicious and cooked to perfection. I will definitely come back!

Loved the breakfasts—lots of choices. The hosts were lovely. The room was spotless and the bed was comfortable. It was an easy walk to restaurants, pubs and York City Center. Would stay there again in a heartbeat! 1!

Lovely hotel. Everywhere is nice and clean. The room was lovely. Free tea and coffee. Free homemade biscuit. Alcohol if you wanted to purchase. Nice garden at the bag that we sat in. Room was nice and the bed was really comfortable. There was a sitting room but we never used it. I had full English breakfast. It was huge and delicious. Great location. 20 mins walk to centre of York. We were going to The Barbican. It was half hour walk. Thanks for a lovely stay

Our stay at Monkbridge was outstanding from the moment we arrived. In fact even before arrival with the informative welcome email explaining check in and directions etc. We were so warmly welcomed and shown to our room, everything explained so well. We stayed in room 1 which had a beautiful four poster bed, it was so gorgeous. Immaculately clean. So traditional and individual yet had all the modern comforts of a posh hotel. With complementary tea coffee and home made biscuits even a welcome Sherry. There is a payable mini bar with very reasonable prices. All toiletries are in the bathroom and there is a Hair dryer provided. The breakfast is what takes this from a beautiful hotel to an absolutely five star spectacular one. I travel extensively for work spending a lot of my life in different hotels and guest houses and I can say this is without a doubt the best breakfast I have ever had. The Irish soda bread is what dream are made of. The venison sausage, beautifully cooked bacon and the mushrooms were so delicious my mouth is watering just thinking about them. Absolutely recommend. Really central location, really helpful and friendly staff. Can’t think of one thing to fault. Outstanding.

Friendly and informative. Breakfast - 10/10. Pre-ordering the breakfast the night before, along with a set time worked very well. Variety of breakfasts, freshly prepared along with other buffet essentials. All really tasty. Hotel - 10/10. Stayed 3 nights. Perfect location, just outside the city walls by the Minster. Beautiful b&b, with fresh, modern decor throughout. Lots of lovely ‘personal touches’. Would recommend and would definitely stay again if we’re back in York.

WiFi was very sketchy and did not work most of the time but did click in every so often. The house and location are great as a jumping off point anywhere in the Lake District.

A delightful place to stay in a great location with lovely hosts. A short 10-15 minute walk and you're in middle of town with all the sights. We arrived before check-in and happened to catch the owners. They directed us to the parking behind the house & checked us in early. We left the car and set out to explore. Lovely room. Small shower. Lovely grounds. Delightful breakfast made to order. Easy checkout. Definitely recommend!

Room 5 not suitable for a nights sleep due to noise from the road and dogs barking at a business from across the road. Disappointed given the low occupancy to be placed adjacent to other guests. Asked about a room upgrade prior to arrival but communication ignored. Good breakfast but still waiting for toast, ask for a garden or rear room as windows totally inadequate at the front of the property and a good nights sleep is a basic expectation.

We had a Triple room on the top floor, the room was huge, lovely Hypnos bed and views all around from the large window. Our stay at Monkbridge was outstanding from the moment we arrived. In fact even before arrival with the informative welcome email explaining check in and directions etc. We were so warmly welcomed and shown to our room, everything explained so well. We stayed in room 1 which had a beautiful four poster bed, it was so gorgeous. Immaculately clean. So traditional and individual yet had all the modern comforts of a posh hotel. With complementary tea coffee and home made biscuits even a welcome Sherry. There is a payable mini bar with very reasonable prices. All toiletries are in the bathroom and there is a Hair dryer provided. The breakfast is what takes this from a beautiful hotel to an absolutely five star spectacular one. I travel extensively for work spending a lot of my life in different hotels and guest houses and I can say this is without a doubt the best breakfast I have ever had. The Irish soda bread is what dream are made of. The venison sausage, beautifully cooked bacon and the mushrooms were so delicious my mouth is watering just thinking about them. Absolutely recommend. Really central location, really helpful and friendly staff. Can’t think of one thing to fault. Outstanding.

Paul and Fiona are great hosts. The room was comfortable, clean and convenient. The location was convenient for walking to York Minster and surroundings. Stairs to the upper floor may be a little steep for some but we had no problem. A little street noise one night but not problematic and we slept well our 3 nights there.

PERFECT. This property is just lovely and it is an easy walk to the Walls and the city within. Paul & Fiona are the nicest people and perfect hosts. Our room was excellent, our bed was comfy, everything within our room and the whole building was spotless. Couldn't fault it. Paul's cooking skills are second to none. The daily breakfast outshone anything we had during our 30 day UK adventure. Fiona was super helpful with travel tips. Parking was easy. Can't fault this property. We would definitely stay there again (and my husband isn't a fan of B&B style accommodation).

Paul and Fiona were absolutely amazing. Staying there was like staying with family. Such a welcoming environment. Location was great, the room was nicer than expected, there was parking upon request, and the breakfast was really good. Would highly recommend to anyone and will be staying here again the next time we visit York.

Paul and Fiona are wonderful hosts. The rooms are very comfortable (I've stayed in the triple rooms) and are set up with everything you need. The location is a short walk from the city walls and is very convenient to walk to all sites you want to see in the city. The breakfasts are excellent and varied to suit all tastes. You just have to select your breakfast choices the night before and everything is ready for you when you come down. Overall, I've stayed here numerous times and this is always my first choice when visiting York. Highly recommended!

Fiona met us at the property and went out of her way to show us round and tell us every we needed to know. The room was gorgeous with lots of littles touches that made it special. Loved the homemade shortbread. Breakfast was great. Lots of choice with homemade jams and butter. Thank you Fiona and Paul. Loved our stay and hope to return.

A beautiful property that has been renovated tastefully by the owners. Free parking at the rear of the property. Very comfortable room (we booked a superior room) and bed, good breakfast selection from continental to full English. Location is great, just a 5 minute walk into York, we really enjoyed our stay. Some nice touches, mini fridge in the room with fresh real milk (mini bar too if you wish). Home made jams, butter and bread available at breakfast, together with Paul's specials. Recommend!

Monkbridge House was such a great place to stay on our visit to York, beautiful rooms, with everything you need, fabulous breakfast choice. Great hosts. Amazingly convenient for safe private parking and less than 10mins away from entering the city walls and all the great sites.

Lovely short stay at well positioned property. Rooms are spotlessly clean and great breakfast (cooked to order). Monkbridge also offers parking (pre-arrange with owners) which is big plus point in and around central York. It's only a 5 - 10 minute walk to city centre so ideally located. Would highly recommend and would have no hesitation in staying here again. Best wishes to owners on a well run establishment.

We chose this hotel on the basis of excellent earlier reviews and were very pleased that we did. The hotel is well located, about 15 minutes walk from the Minster, the rooms (and beds) are large and extremely comfortable, the staff and proprietors were friendly and helpful and the breakfasts were the best that we've ever had. Highly recommended!

Kind owners and a great breakfast, with lots of homemade granola and jams to enjoy. Room was nice and comfortable, but stiflingly hot - with the provided fan too noisy to be useful. Close to town, so an easy walk to see the sights.

We had a lovely trip to Monkbridge house, the hosts let us check in early as we had a wedding and were very accommodating. They are super organised with reminders about your stay and lots of helpful info when you arrive. The room was beautifully decorated with a vintage dressing table which was stunning. The gardens are clearly extremely loved and a lot of time and effort has gone into them as they are beautiful. The location is great you can walk into the centre in no time at all. The breakfast was great, with hearty portions and Paul’s homed made butter and soda bread being the real highlight. There were lots of lovely touches and you could tell the hosts had spent a lot of time and energy to make our stay comfortable. We would definitely come back here when are in York.
