This is an amazing property! Perfect location. A spacious, beautiful apartment - so nice I almost just wanted to hang out there on the terrace all day. It was clean, modern, and well maintained.

The apartment was gorgeous! Large & airy, amazing location. A few issues… I had to track down someone who spoke English in order to get access to the apartment. Right after I booked the apartment a few months ago, they did send me information about parking, but there was nothing about a code to get the key for the apartment. I booked through Expedia, which was probably part of the problem and probably would’ve had fewer issues had I booked directly. Expedia also gave the incorrect address of the apartment which caused confusion. We finally got into the apartment and were very pleased with it. Unfortunately, zero toiletries were provided. No hotel size shampoo, soap, etc. Luckily we had a little bit with us from previous hotels, but this is a simple thing that should be stocked at the apartment. Also, an amenity that was advertised was laundry in the unit. This was not correct, again we had to speak with the desk at the hotel adjoining, get a key for another apartment, and use their laundry, which was not very convenient. The hotel beds were very comfortable, have a nice quality, linens, and plenty of fluffy towels were provided. Beware, it is difficult to find a place in Duernstein to eat dinner past a certain hour as most of the business comes in the middle of the day from the river cruises that stop in the early part of the day.

I would love to have given this a 5 but there were a few issues - although we enjoyed our trip immensely. I had read as we were planning this trip that it can be very warm in the Wachau valley so we only looked at properties with Air Conditioning. And it just so happened we were there during Europes hottest heat wave and when we arrived at the property it was 95 degrees. When we walked into the unit it was stifling hot and guess what…there was no AC after all. We had been sweating through Europe and there was just no way we were going to suffer two days and nights that were to be in the mid 90s. The woman who manages the property was very sorry and explained it was a mistake that it said AC on the Expedia site. She went to the front desk at the hotel that is associated with the property and tried to find us a room with AC but there were none. I was standing in the lobby looking for other places to go - we were going to just drive to Vienna to find AC - and she said they had a solution. They gave us a three story villa that had two AC units in it for the same price. It was very kind of them to do this and we were very appreciative. The villa was “interesting” and looked as though no one had stayed there for a while as there were quite a few spiders and webs throughout the house. But we didn’t care - we were nice and cool. The bed and the bedding were the best we had experienced in Europe. The views were spectacular and we had a tiny spot to park our tiny rental car!
