Check in was easy. Large room with kitchenette and very clean and comfortable. Grounds were very clean and had nice seating area on the lawn. It is right in the highway and a little ways from town but was happy with the size of room and how clean it was. If just passing through and not needing to be right in town this is a great place to stay

We only spent the night enroute to Revelstoke. Pretty basic motel. Really clean and has all the basics to spend the night. They have a BBQ and a small green area.

Room was very clean, and the beds were more actually more comfortable than most hotels I’ve stayed in. I was a bit worried about some negative reviews saying that guests were charged a $100 deposit which was never returned for smoking in the rooms, despite claiming that they don’t smoke. There are ominous signs at the front desk saying that they have detectors in the room (which I couldn’t find but maybe didn’t look hard enough), but I don’t smoke and my deposit was returned after a few days. The rooms have a microwave, coffee maker and full fridge (which was unplugged but easily plugged back in), and the cupboards are zip tied shut. Not the fanciest rooms by any means but good for an overnight stay, and the price is right. Highway noise could be a concern for some. I wear earplugs at night so slept soundly. Motel is a bit out of town, but again, the price reflects this minor inconvenience. Would go back and recommend for anyone passing through needing a good night’s rest.

Easy to find and access, quick check-in with friendly Owner. Good parking and a large grassy front yard where guests can sit. Room was clean and comfortable. Not much for places to eat, those in Canoe were closed at 7pm.

Pros: Right by Hwy 1, easy access/parking. I think the owner served us at the desk & was thorough & very nice. The older motel has been updated, particularly the bathroom. For an older motel and having stayed in many that were very disappointing, the Happy Salmon Motel was a breath of fresh air… from the lovely woman who greeted us at check-in to entering our very clean bedroom, bathroom and kitchen area. We were exhausted from a long day of traveling so we were really pleased that the bed was very comfortable and we had a great sleep. Even though the motel is situated close to the highway, we were not disturbed by any traffic noise or any other noise. The shower was great as was the coffee that was provided. Thank you Happy Salmon owners and staff for a very pleasant and restful stay. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Would have liked "two" comfy chairs. Small round dining table and fridge. Burnt orange feature wall with dark wood paneling on floor. Great ambiance. I'd definitely stay there next time. :)

This is a charming little motel just off the hwy. I had a room in the back, so it was really quiet and I did not hear any highway noise. It is all redone in the insides of the suite and very very clean. Don't let the outside discourage you. Owner was really nice. I will definitely stay at this motel again in the future.

The pictures online are not exactly what we got. The TV is in the sitting area, not the bedroom, and there were two very uncomfortable chairs to sit on. The chairs were one step up from folding chairs. There was a small circular table that was wobbly, but that was it. We had traveled for 8 hours, were tired, and just wanted to rest. That was not possible due to the lack of comfortable chairs/furniture, and the fact that there was no TV in the bedroom, as the pictures show. The fridge was not plugged in when we got there, and it was 33 degrees Celsius. We had to leave our food in our cooler. There was also only one light for the entire main area, which was very poor. For $188/night CAD, this was a ripoff. I didn't expect four stars, but the pictures were deceiving, and not having a cold fridge (which we paid for) was unacceptable. The highway noise was terrible. I would not recommend this place to anyone, nor will I ever stay here again. The cost does not come anywhere near the quality.

This is clearly an older building, but it was charming, extremely clean and well cared for with obvious updates and care taken to make guests feel welcomed.Our room #102 was very large ( two rooms plus bathroom). We had a kitchen table, full fridge ( which we really appreciated being able to re-freeze our ice packs for our cooler). Our daughter had lots of room to play in our room. We had just stayed at a very expensive hotel in Kamloops, and preferred The Happy Salmon over that hotel! The front desk clerk was very sweet, offered us additional towels and the cleaning staff was cheerful. We were very impressed, especially considering the price. We would definitely stay here again. The best motel experience I have had. Linens were clean and crisp, towels were soft and fluffy a d the a/c worked amazingly ! Overall a very good experience!

We stayed for one night. The location is excellent. While the building looks a bit dated from the outside, the room has been renovated and was comfortable, spacious, and clean. The bed was a little too soft for our preference, but overall, we had a pleasant stay. Free Wi-Fi and on-site parking were definitely a plus.

This is a side of the road motel, which is fine if that is what you are looking for. It was clean and the rooms were big. However you can’t open the windows and the air conditioning is so so noisy so it feels really overbearing to sleep there.

I had a terrible experience with this hotel. The staff were very rude and I was charged even though I did not stay at the hotel. I was driving home from the Vancouver coast to Alberta and felt I could not keep my eyes open to safely make it all the way to the hotel. I had to stop for rest sooner and book a different hotel. I tried to explain this to the hotel staff and was told me they do not care about my situation and that I should not complain. I understood I missed my deadline for a refund but no need to be so rude over the phone to a customer. I was so shocked how they spoke to me knowing they already had my money.

they collected a $100. dollar deposit for damage when I checked in. I was informed this would automatically be returned following the room inspection. ! week after checking out, they still have not rrturned this deposit. They do not have a valid reason for retaining this deposit.

This is a charming little motel just off the hwy. I had a room in the back, so it was really quiet and I did not hear any highway noise. It is all redone in the insides of the suite and very very clean. Don't let the outside discourage you. Owner was really nice. I will definitely stay at this motel again in the future.

Hotel Happy Salmon is very good value. We use it to break up a long journey from central BC to Calgary, especially with the shorter daylight hours of winter. The rooms around the back don't hear the noise from the nearby highway.

Excellent value for the money. Halfway point between Calgary and Vancouver, public beach nearby. If you are looking for an efficient stop over with clean beds and AC, and you aren't traveling with pets, the Happy Salmon is a great option!

The picture for the motel is misleading, I thought it was on the beach. Motel is on a major HWY so very noisy at night. Short 5 minute drive to the beautiful Canoe beach. Room was clean, staff are friendly, however the beds were so uncomfortable and all you get is HWY noise.

Biggest surprise was it's not actually in Salmon Arm, but rather in Canoe. Not much for local amenities, one small pub, that's it; or backtrack 15 minutes to get back into Salmon Arm, where there's lots of restaurants etc.

Wonderful staff! Rooms were clean, motel was easy to locate; perfect for our trip. Just a little drive into Salmon Arm for all amenities. A little noisy being right off Hwy 1; but that was completely expected. Would definitely stay here again.

For an overnight stay Motel Happy Salmon provided a clean comfortable room in a convenient location. The motel is newly renovated in a pleasant style. There is a terrific pub in Canoe Village at the lake, a short walk down the hill from the motel.

The Motel Happy Salmon was a convenient affordable place to stay. The staff person was great, and the room was spotless. The location was pretty good, and there are great places to eat reasonably nearby. As long as you're not looking for something super fancy, we recommend staying here.

Room was clean and comfortable, close to amenities and beach. Didn't realize the kitchen was not available, although it had a fridge and microwave there were no plates, cups or cutlery.

Easy to find and access, quick check-in with friendly Owner. Good parking and a large grassy front yard where guests can sit. Room was clean and comfortable. Not much for places to eat, those in Canoe were closed at 7pm.

Plain and simple place but clean. Nice place in general for a reasonable price. Nowhere to get breakfast though. AC worked great in this high heat. One complaint was way too many messages between booking and check in. 1 message advising of parking and pet policies would have been enough, especially after answering saying no pets and no trailer. I did not need 4 more after that. Tje info was on the Expedia page too. Please turn off the multiple (assumed) auto messages.

The motel was clean and comfortable, great for a one night stay while we were travelling, and the price was great. No real dining facilities in the area so we had a short drive in to Salmon Arm for supper and breakfast the next morning.

Pros: Right by Hwy 1, easy access/parking. I think the owner served us at the desk & was thorough & very nice. The older motel has been updated, particularly the bathroom. Cons:We were asked not to use the room's kitchen; not sure why as no breakfast offered here. The bed was small, matress seemed older & a lot of bounce when anyone rolled over during the night. Not the best sleep. I'm not sure how this property had the high ratings it did on expedia, which was why I chose it. Overall, a one night stop on a road trip was adequate, but not great.
