Maison Elizondoa - chambres, restaurant et SPA

We are confused as to how this B&B has such good reviews. We booked it based on these reviews, our need for tranquility and the pool. Firstly, we were surprised that the parking was on the opposite side of the road - it’s an open space in front of the church. Arriving at the front door, we were shocked to see an overflowing ashtray – not a good first impression. We were then greeted by ‘someone’ – the welcome was so cold that we wondered if in fact we were in the right place. He (turns out it was the owner) showed us to our room and then told us to use a back staircase. In principle, this is not a problem, however, we happened to have the room next to that staircase and could hear people going up and down (no insulation). The noise between the bathrooms was terrible – we could hear our neighbours chatting in their bathroom. In short, the renovation (which does not respect the era of the property at all) was not a quality one. This extended to the bedding – Amazon basics – 100% polyester sheets and duvet covers. Absolutely horrible and even more so as it was 40 degrees! We didn’t even know you could still buy such bedding. Fortunately we had aircon - this drowned out the noise of the cars and motorbikes. Breakfast was a strange affair because the 4 couples were placed on 4 separate spaced-out very long tables in a 70m2 room, with the owner sat at a desk surveying us, it was like exam situation Positives: we did enjoy the pool + breakfast was good but cold items were warm.

This was a perfect little spot. A house with 5 rooms for guests, an enormous living room upstairs to lounge in and a perfect dining area on the ground floor. The hosts are kind and helpful. They ask that you give them plenty of notice for dinner which they make using ingredients from their farm. The garden is beautiful and relaxing. A great place for a short or long stay. The village is quiet and you will be quite alone at the footsteps to the Pyrenees .

Sympa mais l’accueil un peu particulier un peu froid. J’ai demandé pour dîner le soir, on m’a gentiment proposé un restaurant à 9 km. Je suis allé dîner en ville et quand je suis rentré. En rentrant, j’ai pu constater que cette hotte faisait à manger et avait des clients. Je ne comprends pas pourquoi, il n’a pas souhaité que je dîne à son restaurant. Dommage
