Exactly what it says this hotel is darling very art deco Very clean great location walking distance to restaurants bars, bakery coffee shops breweries It was the old courthouse they did an amazing job turning it into a hotel with rooftop restaurant and there is also a bar very safe gated parking with pool

We were never told there was a charge for parking. Big surprise when we checked out. Its redicules that they charge $19 for parking. Its not like this is LA and they just don't have the space.

Stayed for 2 nights. For the first night, we got the room at 2nd floor facing the main street. Cleanness was great, however the room we had was super noisy and the car sounds from the street was more than terrible. We can barely sleep... Staff was nice enough to switch us to another room on the other side at the same floor for the 2nd night. Noise level was better but still not great. We were not expecting such sleeping quality at the price compared to the other hotels in the area. Also, the pool was closed without any notice posted upon booking on Expedia, child was super disappointed - for this the staff Ashly (?) was kind and provided us the complimentary vouchers at Elderwood. However I would probably not choose the hotel if we knew the pool was not open in the first place, which was a huge deciding factor for the child.

1. Stairs. It's a funky building (which we like), but it was confusing for a first-time stay to negotiate where the stairs go, versus the elevator. 2. We were in a downstairs room, no elevator (101), so the very tall windows opened up to a way-high view of the sky; the room was partly below grade. We were told that at check in, but curtains were hard to close. 3. At check in, we were handed a packet, but not told the gated parking pass was inside. Found it the next morning. 4. The room was very noisy from street noise--it fronts North Court, which is a fairly busy through road. The windows are original 1935, single paned. 5. Even with noisy-canceling earplugs, we were awaked at midnight on our 2nd night by the very loud whoosh of water running while someone nearby was taking a shower for 10 minutes. We did NOT expect that. 6. The bathroom was all stone and marble and lovely, but could have been constructed smaller--the room itself was very small and only had room for one small sitting chair and queen bed. 7. At check in, we were encouraged to use the pool; however, it had a number of fountain jets shooting into it and was very littered with flowers from the nearby shrubs that hide the pool from the street. It wasn't inviting at all, even though the temps were in the high 90s. No one used it that we could tell. 8. All that said, the small room was very comfortable and was very near the vibrant downtown area. Other than the serious noise issue, it was a nice stay.

Hotel is very cute, clean and very nicely done, however-Rooms aren’t very well insulated and there’s LOTS of street noise in room and especially while sitting by pool. We tried to get a drink at the restaurant in hotel at 9 (they close at 9:30) and they wouldn’t let us sit at the bar because “the kitchen was backed up from an event”… the convenience of the restaurant in the hotel was a reason we stayed there so that was very irritating. Because of the poor insulation, The next morning (Saturday) we woke up at 9:30AM to the sound of a power washer spraying the pool deck off… I can think of 5 other better days to do that than a weekend when people want to sleep in.

Beautiful hotel with very comfortable beds right in the middle of town. Walk to restaurants, coffee, etc just a block away. The pool is heated - you could even swim in winter. You have to pay for parking, but there is plenty of street parking. The restaurant has very good food. Downside: A lot of stairs to go up and down in this historic building. No bathrobes to wear out to the pool.

Room was great nice and clean, hotel was so cute! The amenities were great. The staff were very nice! The heated pool was lovely the complementary snacks were sweet gesture. Elderwood was spectacular, if we were getting food or drinks the host and servers were so kind.

Service was excellent, the room clean and comfy, the 4th floor restaurant just wonderful. However, at arrival you have to climb up one level to get to the reception, and the elevator only goes up to the 3rd floor, so if you want to eat at the restaurant, you have to climb up one floor. The Sunday brunch was wonderful. We only got seat at the patio but there were space heaters. We could have used some blankets though. If you want to have dinner or breakfast at their restaurant, which apparently is managed independently from the hotel, you’ll have to make a reservation way ahead of time. All in all a great stay.

Staff is great and the aesthetic of the hotel is wonderful. We’ve stayed before and had no problems, but this time had issues with tv connectivity and some room cleanliness concerns- slow drain, stains on shower tile, dried food stuck to inside of info card, for example. The Darling is a hotel with character and I hope these small items were a one-off occurrence, we have loved staying here in the past.

The room was put together pretty thoughtful, there were some visible blemishes on the pillows but the amenities were great and I love that there were snacks because I definitely needed them upon arrival

Mostly the darling was fantastic. I woke up and went to take a shower and there was what looked like feces on the hand towel. Meanwhile there are multiple suggestions IN THE ROOM asking you to leave a tip for the cleaning team. My room was not cleaned properly and there were hairs on the pillows almost like they didn’t swap em

Hotel room was on the small side and was extremely noisy do to the traffic. Could have had a better location and room for the price. Had to climb two flights of stairs, with luggage, to get to the lobby. Not good.

Gorgeous renovation of art nouveau building originally the county courthouse annex. Absolutely the nicest hotel shower, large, walk-in, marble floors but the hexagonal tiles kept it from being slippery. Lots of large, fluffy towels, just lovely.

Very clean and in excellent condition for age of the classic building. An oasis on a busy street. High ceilings and fitting retro decor. Wish I had gone up to roof top bar/restaurant. Walked around close downtown. Noisy plumbing expected with vi ntage site but I always bring ear plugs.

We stayed for 3 nights while celebrating my birthday. Pros: Great interior design. Lots of great gold and art deco/geometric touches all throughout the property. Nice high ceilings. Just about an 1.5hr drive from Sequioa and Kings Canyon Natl Parks. Cons: A confusing mishap was handled poorly by manager Jessica and a handful of the customer service staff. We were told by multiple staff members that a dining discount would apply to our dinner bill and Jessica was kind enough to explain that the staff advised me incorrectly. A better show of goodwill would’ve been to issue to discount anyway for our trouble. The mattress was a bit hard for our comfort and the sheets while clean-smelling were stained with what may have been a previous coffee/wine spill. We didn’t make a big deal of it and was generally satisfied with the room’s function. My status with Expedia allowed access to a complimentary room upgrade however this was not available at the time of check-in. The desk staff advised that we’d instead receive free self parking and free late checkout (12pm vs. 11am checkout). Free parking was already a feature I had access to via my Expedia status. This may have been a missed opportunity to go far and beyond expectations, perhaps by offering a dinner discount or some other show of value and goodwill. Similar properties may make note of the day of the birthday and leave a small treat in the room - for example. All in all it was a great trip and we enjoyed it.

The room was amazing! Very hugh cielings and a chandelier looks amazing, and the bed was huge and comfy. The only problem is that the shower has a very small lip to contain the water and the bathroom will flood easily, and doesnt have adequate drainage. Be careful or else you might have a flooded bathroom when you brush your teeth or go to the restroom

We already stayed at this hotel, same time-ladt year. It is a great hotel. Beautiful, clean, good location. But the rooms in the „basement“ are terrible. Dont get me wrong. Its clean, furnishing and all nice. Almost no sunlight. Extremely loud and difficult to sleep. Beds are also kind of small. So, go to that hotel, but check room twice.

Nice, trendy hotel. Staff were very friendly and accomodating. Immediately received a text offering assistance. The beds were comfortable and the room was beautiful. My only complaint was that I had a ground floor room and could hear street noise all night.

I had the worst stay in my life. As a rule follower, I made sure I knew what the smoking policy and made sure I adhered. However, I was called and accused of smoking in the room and even told I can’t have concealed medicinal medicine. I demanded they come in the room and run the cameras to demonstrate that I followed the rules. Overall, I was embarrassed and felt afraid when multiple staff showed at my room to scold me when I know my rights while following their rules. I believe in rules.

Excellent place friendly staff!

Our stay at The Darling was like something out of a fairy tale! I was delighted to find rose petals all over the room, a dozen roses, a dozen chocolate-covered strawberries, and a bottle of champagne, all arranged for our anniversary. My boyfriend had scheduled everything in advance, and he mentioned that The Darling made the booking process incredibly easy. We spent a day by the pool, which added the ultimate relaxing touch to our stay. I’m already looking forward to our next visit!

Amazing hotel and staff! I was stationed in Lemoore and lived in all around Fresno, Visalia, and Exeter and I can honestly say coming back to visiting and choosing the darling was the best choice! I never knew about it the whole 4 years living here but everything in and around the darling is amazing. Great, beautiful rooms to amazing food in the elderwood.

The hotel personnel were very friendly and attentive to our needs. We had a couple of issues and they were able to help and quickly respond and resolve the issues. A beautiful and unique hotel experience with the 1930s art deco decorations. The restaurant was excellent also.

The staff was extremely attentive, kind and accommodating. All service requests were fulfilled quickly, early check-in and late check-out accommodations were granted thanks to the availability during our stay. Overall a great experience and will return again soon!

What a great stay!! Very retro and historical building and area. Very unique hotel with upgraded amenities. Staff is terrific especially Robert at the front desk. I totally recommend this hotel to anyone visiting.

Stayed 1 night. Great location in downtown Visalia before early AM drive to Sequoia NP. Glad we chose Visalia over Fresno as our starting point. Hotel has great "character" and is in excellent condition. Many restaurants & shops within walking distance. Hotel has a rooftop restaurant with nice views, but we didn't eat there.

The hotel was beautiful. The ability to walk to the restaurants and shops was great. I loved it and will be back.

The hotel is beautiful and so nice. The room was spacious and so nicely decorated and clean. The staff was wonderful and the restaurant was great. Dining on the roof and watching the sunset was really enjoyable and relaxing. I would definitely stay there again. The gate around the parking lot helped us feel very safe. I just wouldn’t feel safe walking to far from the hotel day or night. The area about a block or so away wasn’t at all what you would expect near such a nice upscale hotel.

In the heart of Visalia's vibrant downtown. We walked to all the fun shops, pubs and entertainment. Then to stay at the Darling to be pampered in luxury and comfort. A charming get away!

Absolutely lovely hotel in downtown Visalia! Excellent service, beautifully designed bedrooms, spacious bathrooms with a spectacular terrace rooftop restaurant. Wait staff was terrific and the food 5 stars! Get the pork belly apperizer and mahi mahi entrée. Creme brulee was the best ending to dinner. You will not regret staying here.

This hotel was lovely. The room was pristine and luxurious. We loved the location, enjoyed the pool, and had drinks at the rooftop restaurant. The only downside was that the restaurant was $$$ and had a very limited menu. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend it!

The room was stunning. Just beautiful. What a Suite should be. I still think about that amazing tub. The only downside is their room service is tied to the rooftop restaurant so if they're closed (like on Tuesdays) they can't get you anything, even cutlery & there's not a lot of options in the nearby area which is disappointing.

After a long day at Sequoia National Park we had a disappointing experience somewhere else and I found The Darling was 20 minutes from Three Rivers and booked the room - couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised. Great staff, beautiful hotel, impeccably kept... my wife couldn't have been happier. We had a great evening with a nightcap from The Elderwood upstairs and return to the Elderwood in the morning for breakfast. This fabulous hotel isn't just a nice place to stay, it's kind of a nice experience... A great place to just go and get away. We agreed to come back just to spend a couple of days of rest and relaxation in a beautiful environment with a great restaurant.

The property was clean, and the staff was helpful. The food from the restaurant was terrible. We ordered chicken Caesar salads, and the chicken was raw in the center.

The Darling is a lovely, quirky, characterful property. Staff members are helpful and friendly. Great restaurant and bar on the roof - food is particularly good (breakfast and dinner). Set a high standard for the rest of our trip.
