We enjoyed ranch house 3 during our stay. There are 3 "ranch houses" in a row on one end of the property. Much more secluded than the other cabins (I believe 17ish in that group). As a family we loved the pool area, and ate multiple times at the lodge restaurant. There were also 2 well maintained plagrounds. Ranch house had everything we needed except for cookie sheet for breakfast. (Found a DG 5min away) We would love to stay again. My only "complaint" or suggestion, is that we would have loved to rent a cart during our stay. As a family with small kiddos, the property was not walkable, so we had to load up the car every time to go eat, pool, fish pond, etc. We decided against the fish pond for this reason, as it is about a .25mile walk from your car to pond. (With toddlers and equipment, we decided to go to lake instead)

This property is truly a hidden gem! I had no idea this was hiding away right outside of BrownWood! I booked this property for a meet-up-half-way point to visit with family. We had a great time hanging out at the pool and enjoying the beauty of the property! The cabin we rented was cute, clean and quaint. We enjoyed sitting out on the patio in the morning sipping coffee from the great little coffee shop in the main building! The property itself was beautiful and very relaxing! The one negative would be that the hot tub was not working. It did take a little bit of work to find someone to trouble shoot this until an “ out of order sign” was put up. BUT this is a small negative in an overall amazing experience! If you want a great little get-away BOOK THIS! Even if you don’t play golf, it was a great place to relax, visit and recharge!

This is a golf resort setting including rooms in a lodge and cabins. I stayed in one of the six lodge rooms. I did not use the outdoor pool or hot tub, but both were very nice with good outdoor views. A very good facility for the cost.

Overall getting there wasn’t the most pleasant with the construction on road, but once there it was peaceful and room was excellent! Staff was friendly as well. Gym needs some work though.. only had two machines! Overall this place was Outstanding! I will be back and play some golf next time. Hats off to you all… a hidden gem!

Nice property. They overbooked the lodge so they gave us a private cabin. We had a late arival and it was dark and about to rain so that was a little stressfull as the parking was not at the cabin. We had to make a walk from the car to the cabin with all our stuff. But once in the cabin the kids were delighted. Great little cabin for a family trip. Only no instructions on how to use the tv or the heat and air. I would definately stay here again!

We enjoyed a family getaway from DFW to a quieter area. Loved the views, the amenities and the service was great. Poolside drinks were also great! Resort style and the pool was the big hit for our kiddos!

Despite the beautiful setting, we did find that there were some shortcomings with the rooms and the resort in general. We stayed on the bottom floor of the lodge in a room with two queen beds. The rooms were clean but, outdated and in dire need of deferred maintenance. The beds were acceptably comfortable, with good pillows, but the drapes in the bedroom were VERY thin and would allow passers-by to see into the room after the sun went down. This was disturbing, and we were forced to hang the sheets from one of the beds over the drapes to have any privacy whatsoever. Here is a more detailed review of the pros and cons of the resort: Pros: Beautiful setting and views of the Lake Brownwood countryside. Reasonably priced food that was delicious. Friendly and helpful staff. Cons: The full-length drapes in the first-floor bedrooms were completely see-through. Access to check-in was awkward with no luggage assistance or elevator from the lobby. Generally, our stay was acceptable, but I would not recommend it as a luxurious or romantic getaway.

This location was perfect for an overnight stop between Lubbock and Houston. The room was clean and the bed was comfy. Dinner had great flavor and sitting outside on the deck was relaxing.

The Hideout staff is always friendly and helpful and the rooms are beautiful and clean. The only improvement we'd like to see is a small refrigerator and coffee pot in the room. Our stays have so far only been overnight multiple times (passing through) but we hope to soon stay longer and enjoy some golf and relaxation.

Very cozy and quiet cabin. Beautiful view. Absolutely love the front porch. Only two things kept me from giving a five star review. First, the bed in our cabin was extra firm and second, please add a coffee pot.

The doors are too short, kept hitting my head. The kitchen is fake, no stove, no oven, other than a microwave, a college dorm refrigerator. If you don’t need a kitchen , and are under 6 foot 5 inches, this is a great place. The staff is wonderful.

The room at The Hideout was very spacious and accommodating. The bed was very comfortable. The deck just outside of the room was very nice with a beautiful view of the golf course. I wish it had a small refrigerator and microwave but I managed without them.

There is no sign on the building or the check-in window to indicate the location of guest check-in. The parking was far from our unit, up a steep hill. As we stayed several days, we had to make about 10 trips to drag our bags and food to the unit and then back again when we left. No outside alcohol was allowed, so they could make extra money. No coffee pot was in the unit, only a laminated menu of coffee options in the main facility (without prices), so they could make extra money. There were absolutely no kitchen amenities, such as a spoon or fork, only two coffee cups for the non-existent coffee maker. The pillow was like sleeping with my head on an over-inflated balloon. The porch and rockers were nice and we enjoyed the view. This could be a nice stay with some adjustments.

This will be my go-to place to stay in Brownwood. Friendly staff and great service. The restaurant is amazing as well. Beautiful location on golf course. Highly recommend.

I was in town for business and The Hideout did not disappoint. It was quiet, clean and the hospitality was outstanding. Special shout-out to Reagan from the bar, she was very friendly and attentive. Overall outstanding. 10 out of 10 would recommend.

The good: They had a room when I couldn't find one in Brownwood. Go figure... Don't know what the hot event in B'wood was that had all the rooms booked, but the only place left was pretty dumpy. So. I ended up here. It's clean. The bad: I asked for a room easily accessible to an old woman with a bad back & a bum knee. They gave me Cabin 5. Just a short 30 yard hike on a downhill golf cart path, which will, of course, due to some law of physics which I have not found a way to change, be up hill on my way out tomorrow. That's if you are fortune enough to get the closest parking spot, which I did not. That golf cart path by the way, is only wide enough for a golf cart. Not a golf cart AND an old lady lugging luggage. Consequently I kept having to move off into the loose gravel & grass beside the path. Get to the cabin & there's a Do Not Disturb sign on the door… My card key opens the door & the place is full of bags & jackets & other folk's belongings. Remember that uphill trek I mentioned? Back to the office. In the office, gosh they are sorry! Can't imagine how such a thing could happen. Let's just put you in Cabin 1. Turns out 1 is only about 15 yards down that self-same golf cart path. I don't care who I find in that cabin they've got company for the night... Get inside. No roomie for the night, but it's a sauna! A/C takes a degree from MIT to decipher. TV not working. Dinner was inedible. Not enough room in this text to fully describe…
The good: They had a room when I couldn't find one in Brownwood. Go figure... Don't know what the hot event in B'wood was that had all the rooms booked, but the only place left was pretty dumpy. So. I ended up here. It's clean. The bad: I asked for a room easily accessible to an old woman with a bad back & a bum knee. They gave me Cabin 5. Just a short 30 yard hike on a downhill golf cart path, which will, of course, due to some law of physics which I have not found a way to change, be up hill on my way out tomorrow. That's if you are fortune enough to get the closest parking spot, which I did not. That golf cart path by the way, is only wide enough for a golf cart. Not a golf cart AND an old lady lugging luggage. Consequently I kept having to move off into the loose gravel & grass beside the path. Get to the cabin & there's a Do Not Disturb sign on the door… My card key opens the door & the place is full of bags & jackets & other folk's belongings. Remember that uphill trek I mentioned? Back to the office. In the office, gosh they are sorry! Can't imagine how such a thing could happen. Let's just put you in Cabin 1. Turns out 1 is only about 15 yards down that self-same golf cart path. I don't care who I find in that cabin they've got company for the night... Get inside. No roomie for the night, but it's a sauna! A/C takes a degree from MIT to decipher. TV not working. Dinner was inedible. Not enough room in this text to fully describe…

I liked this little gem in Central Texas. I had seen it before when looking for a halfway point between Houston and Lubbock and came back to it over Thanksgiving break when I needed a place to stay to break up the trip. We had two small kids and dog and this was a great accommodation. We came in at night so we didn't really know what we were looking at and we could tell it was a nice place but it was just different at night. In the morning when I woke up and stepped out onto the porch of my cabin I thought wow this is really cool. My husba nd wished he could have played golf, he even had his golf clubs but we just didn't ha ve time. He thought it would be a great place for a weekend golf getaway with the guys, or the girls.

Property is ok, definitely cater to the golfing community. Absolutely impossible to get a coffee before 6:30 am even in your room. Property will cancel dinner service for paying guests to accommodate private parties. This is a problem due to the location. Fishing is not as advertised. Ceiling fans are inoperable and ac units work on and off. You must walk long distances to cabins without luggage carriers. Just not for me.

Great place. Quiet, out of town. Room is nice, no microwave, no coat hangers. Great view from the room. You are left without food or drinks after 2pm on Sunday. No vending, no nothing. You need to stock your water or soda or beer, but there is no fridge :) Nearest market is 8 miles away. But I must say the staff is great!

I enjoyed my stay in a cabin. It was a bit sparse of furniture for my needs. A simple table by the couch where you could eat or set a drink would be helpful. Also, the entry area by the front door was in need of repair. The floor was sagging slightly and had a give to it when walked across. One of the floor planks was completely broken. However, the bed was comfortable and the view from the patio was beautiful!

The first night, was okay. The hotel room was clean enough and the swimming pool was nice. However, a staff member kept smoking marijuana around the pool. This was unprofessional and disgusting. Due to circumstances, I needed to stay another night (it was the cheapest, decent place to stay.) The second night they put me in a cabin. It was dirty, there were dead bugs on one of the beds and in the ice bucket. There was also dirt and stains in the sofa bed. I looked at the bottom of my feet before I went to bed. They were black just from me taking my shoes off and getting ready to sleep. They also charged me extra money at the front counter (they said to use their amenities, I.e. swimming pool). However, I did not see that that was mentioned on their website. And my payment was nonreturnable, so I was forced to pay extra money to stay there.
