The house is lovely, the location is excellent! Kitchen and baths are well stocked. We visited during a tremendous storm when the area lost power. There were no flashlights in the house, and no access to the garage, so we could not get our car out. Sanctuary took great care of us throughout the 2+days. Their staff is friendly, efficient, competent.

There were 3 of us for 4 nights. Unable to get their until the 2nd night due to illness, unable to recover the 2 lost days. Location was perfect, unit was lovely, minimalist decor (which I love). Kitchen was not cleaned very well upon arrival. Seems from check out the exiting guests are in charge of cleaning the dishes etc. We would definately go back. The beds were perfect very comfortable, felt like home.

Cobwebs on chandeliers & recessed lights & lamps. Cobwebs in primary bath (ceiling & corners). Refrigerator unclean. Dishes in cupboard actually dirty (food caked on surfaces). Blinds in primary bedroom do not work. Dishwasher doesn't clean dishes. These are all easy to correct. I loved my stay! Hearing the waves crash on shore every night and the seals bark in the early morning was magical.

The location is excellent. Sanctuary Vacation Rentals was great - from the booking process to ease of check in and responsiveness to some issues we raised (toilet seat was broken, drier vent was not attached and blowing warm damp air inside the house, mechanism on ground floor window was broken and would not close). SVR fixed them all. The home is a little tired and could use some updating. Describing it as luxurious in the vrbo site is a stretch. We were three couples and it met our needs for the 3 days we were in the area.

Property had no AC. This was not disclosed in listing. Got to property and unable to use one bedroom due to oder in closet bedroom. I paid 3x normal rates for car week and found property less than satisfactory. Dishes had food on them in cuboard and dishwater needs replacement as it does not clean well and soap dispenser does not work in dishwasher.

The condo was very unique and cozy, and we loved the location and the ocean views! Unfortunately, there seems to be a lot of wear and tear on the property. For example, the carpets in the living room were very dirty, the living room furniture seemed worn, and the pocket door leading to the powder room was broken. It seems that previous reviews of the property have generally been very good, so it is possible that we rented after a group that left things in less than desirable condition without giving the property manager time to address it before our stay.

Only 2 issues. There was a sewage smell in the laundry room and the kitchen sink backed up on our last night rherw

Having an easy walk to the Monterey Bay Aquarium was awesome! Nobody wants to continually stuff a toddler into a car seat every time you want to go somewhere to entertain them!Sanctuary staff were very responsive and helpful throughout the rental process and the stay. There were a few malfunctions in the property that were immediately and effectively addressed. Always pleasant to deal with and I feel that compensated for the inconvenience. Although the house is furnished nicely and the kitchen well stocked with utensils, etc., the kitchen cabinetry hasn’t been updated since the 80’s. So it is very worn, drawers don’t function well, tiled counter chipped in many locations; all combined to make the kitchen feel a bit grimy with age. Beds are comfy, view is lovely, and the location absolutely perfect.

I'll start with the positive. Sanctuary was very organized and instructions/ followup were very clear. However, the property itself had many issues. Once we paid, then there wasn't much customer service. I tried to contact via text, phone, email about the issues of our stay and there was ZERO response. No accountability for the lack of quality. The cup we used had a white residue, if we didn't look, we would have inhaled whatever this was (most likely dishwasher powder). The throw pillow had a horrible stench like they were never washed. Lastly, the lower level bathroom was running and would not stop running. Everyone downstairs was afraid to use the bathroom. If you waited over 15 minutes it would slightly fill but the flush was not great. Such an inconvenice for the bathroom issue.

Excellent little house for my sister, dad, and my self along with our spouses to stay for the week to celebrate a big birthday. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking equipment. There's enough space for five or six people comfortably and is laid out so you can have different things going on in different rooms if you want a little separation. It's a block from the ocean and the walking path along it. Also walking distance to the aquarium. Great views from the dining room too.

This location is perfect. Next to the harbor seal sanctuary, aquarium, restaurants, bay... The house is large. One day we saw whales from the balcony!

This Pacific Grove home was the perfect location! It’s super close toEverything- the beach, coffee, cannery row, Monterrey Aquarium, et al. The house itself was very comfortable and tastefully decorated, It had a European flair to it. Beds were comfortable. Reservation and check in process was super easy. Would definitely book again!!

Enjoyed the property location and view! However it was stressful with the steep tile stairway and a 25 month old! The gate provided did not fit or function properly so we had to use furniture to block the hazardous staircase. Due to this situation we would not recommend this property for young children.

The property was a great fit for our needs. Very well situated with excellent access to the coastline and the aquarium. The property shows the expected wear of being on the ocean’s edge, but served our needs well. Not any different than the other homes in the area. It does need a bit of updating, so don’t expect pristine, but still quite comfortable and accommodating with plenty of space and amenities. Sanctuary was very easy to communicate with with plenty of pre stay and arrival communication. We would absolutely come back to this villa or to another Sanctuary property.

Nice balcony to enjoy your cup of coffee in the early am overlooking the ocean. Easy walk to the aquarium and to the wharf and all the fun in between. The home was clean, beds very comfortable. We loved the closet with all the games. Appreciated the phone call from the property management to make sure we had everything we needed. This home and location is on our favorite list to come back to next year!

Overall a great property. Extremely well equipped, complementary wine and cheese and a great view of Monterey Bay. Would only caution that the tile steps to the upper living area, master and kitchen are very narrow and steep. It was tricky and felt unsafe.

The safety gate had to be "McGyvered" with straps that we had brought. There were pack and plays for the littles but no high chair or booster seat. No dishes or utensils for the littles provided. Another wish was the doors needed WD-40 as did the dishwasher door. Last thing, it would be wonderful to have screens on the windows so we could enjoy the fresh air without attracting bugs and moths.Other than that the place was gorgeous and clean. Two ensuite bedrooms (with many stairs for the different levels) and a half bath on the main level. The balconies had ocean views and were a wonderful place to relax. Everyone loved walking to the aquarium and Cannery Row. The grocery store also was within walking distance. We had breakfast at First Awakening which is our favorite way to start the day.

We just returned from an amazing 5 day vacation with friends. The house was as advertised. Easy check in & great communication with property management. Home was clean & well maintained. We spent time in Cannery Row, Monterey Wharf, Monterey Aquarium, Carmel, rented bikes to ride along the bay and ate at several restaurants in Pacific Grove. Very good location since everything was within walking distance or a short drive and the weather was perfection. Would rent this house again

The house was pretty amazing, and the check in process super simple. The views from the house are stunning. We loved how close everything, was..all within walking distance to good food, a grocery store, downdown, the aquarium and cannary lane.
