In the cell block, it sounded like a prison, with the noise reverberating through the entirieof space, and the open vents part of the original prison let the noise of the city in. Resaurant shut Monday and Tuesday, not great, and so few good restraunts available close by, they get booked out.

The Hotel La Prison is a very quirky place to stay. Cells have been converted to rooms. Our room was on the 4th floor with amazing view but not part of cell block. Room was spacious with good bathroom- no fridge in the room and pool was very green and didn’t look too inviting to swim in. Staff were pleasant and helpful Drinks on the balcony lovely A great stay

Staying in an old prison was a very fun experience. The art work and furniture is all very cool. It was a little hot with just the ceiling fan. Pool was wonderful! Amazing views!! We lucked out with parking and got a space up top and just left our car there for three days. About 20.00 a day. The restaurant was good and there was another really good one by the fountain near by. Staff at the hotel were all very nice and helpful. Would recommend

Architecturally brilliant conversion of an ancient prison into a modern hotel. Lots to like about the style, a combination of ancient, brutalist and ultra-chic minimalism. But the room we were in was somewhat disappointing (though my wife thought it OK). We were not in one of the converted cells, so they might be different. Our corner room seemed to be an old office or admin space. There was no place handy to plug in a phone charger. The plug was UNDER a table, and to access it, one had to crawl on the hard concrete floor under the table which was fixed to the wall. Not so easy when you're not as lithe as you used to be. Cold floors, with some rug cover. But the overall feeling was a little bleak. Also, the restaurant (and the bar) were closed on Sunday and Monday. I can understand the restaurant not being open 7days, but the bar?? A street map/A4printed sheet of the town, perhaps with visiting suggestions, would have been a nice touch too.

Lovely different hotel. Deliberately chosen because it was a former prison. Directions/road signs hit a miss, but sat nav got us there via very narrow streets. There’s some hotel parking, but also other local secure car parks at realistic prices. The town is full of bars and restaurants. Is worth taking the little train out to the locks of the camel de midi, but it’s also only a half walk. Only downside of the hotel is that the rooms don’t have air conditioning.

Le lieu est incroyable avec une superbe vue, et le couloir de nage est vraiment un plus pour le charme des lieux. La chambre manque de rigueur pour la propreté (la poussière est présente sur plusieurs rebords dont sur le ventilateur plafonnier, la salissure des assises est visible) mobilier peu confortable et peu esthétique ( dans notre chambre il y avait des bouteilles de vins vides qui n'ont pas été débarrassées dans un tiroir d'un mobilier ! L'intimité de la douche reste à désirer alors que cette chambre de 6 personnes! C'est vraiment perturbant !! La machine à café ne fonctionnait pas donc elle n'a pas été testé avant notre venue ! Le service d'entretien est vite intervenu pour changer le papier qui présentait des tâches de sang ainsi que sur le sol.

The concept of Le Prison is carried through the hotel. Unfortunately the walls of the rooms are rough plaster that comes off on clothing, bedding, anything that touches it. Not a good look, or a good feel. The pool was narrow but lovely, but also there was a slippery algeacovered platform at one end that caused me to slip into the pool instead of sitting down on the platform. Dangerous.

Tolles Hotel in einem ehemaligen Gefängnis, direkt neben der Kathedrale. Ruhige Lage, schöne Aussicht. Unser größeres Zimmer war sehr sauber und geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Am Sonntag kein Zimmerservice und keine Handtücher. Warum keine Ahnung, auch keine Vorabinfo. Schmutzige Tassen wurden einmal nicht ausgetauscht. Frühstück sehr mäßig. Wässriges Rührei, Obst aus der Dose, wenig Auswahl. Auch dort nur mäßiger Service. Buffet schließt auf die Minute, auch wenn man noch gerne einen Kaffee gehabt hätte.

Our second stay at La Prison... and it was just as good as the first! This time we had very comfortable twin beds, which meant we could look out of the window at the view...and what a view! Great sunset both evenings! Didn't eat at the bistro as we had other places we wanted to eat at, but did have breakfast. Plenty of choice. Only niggle was the fruit juice was very sweet. The place is quirky, it's a little out of the way, but we would (and will) stay there again. Only negative... they promote the use of bicycles, but couldn't help us with hiring a bike.

The hotel is very chic and stylish. It's central location is excellent, with the cathedral, shops and restaurants all in easy walking distance. Our group stayed in the basic twin bedrooms which whilst small, were very comfortable, clean, with fabulous views across the countryside. The lack of any tea or coffee making facilities in the room is an issue. The hotel staff, particularly the reception staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful, sorting out dinner reservations for the three evenings of our stay. However, the hotel only notified us a couple of days before our arrival that it was necessary to book a table in the hotel restaurant at least two weeks in advance for evening meals. Also, that the restaurant would be closed for two of the three evenings of our stay, hence us having to eat out every evening. On arrival we were then informed that the bar would also be closed for three evenings. As there were no tea or coffee making facilities in any of the bedrooms, it was not possible to get any drinks in the hotel when we returned each day from sightseeing around the area. I would recommend this hotel and would return but maybe avoid Sundays and Mondays when the restaurant and bar are closed particularly as many of the nearby shops and restaurants in Bezier also closed on those days

Unique place to stay. Not that much room in the bedroom - but it did use to be a prison cell, so no surprise! En-suite bathroom was good. Great location and good restaurant. Bar staff could be a bit friendlier, but reception and everyone else was great.

Excellent room with a beautiful view. Very comfortable bed. The staff were excellent and very friendly. The restaurant had excellent service and the food was phenomenal. They also have a terrace where it is lovely to have a wine by glass and enjoy the view. Excellent accessibility from the ground level as there were several elevators to avoid walking up steep hills. Would absolutely recommend this hotel if staying in Beziers.

Mise à part une personne à l'accueil le jour de notre arrivée (qui nous a dit dans un 1er temps qu'il n'y avait pas de réservation à notre nom, qui a commis une erreur en attribuant la chambre que nous avions réservée à qq d'autre, qui nous a fait patienter 20 min sans nous parler, en pianotant sur son clavier afin de trouver une solution, qui nous a attribué finalement une chambre moins bien située et qui ne s'est même pas excusée ... même après que nous soyons revenus lui dire calmement ce que nous avions pensé de la froideur de son accueil) le reste du séjour était parfait et les autres membres du personnel auxquels nous avons eu affaire étaient très respectueux, courtois et aimables, tout particulièrement le jeune homme à la réception au moment de notre départ qui nous a fait découvrir une vidéo de la rénovation de la prison en hôtel très intéressante. Sans cette arrivée désastreuse, j'aurais attribué 5 étoiles tellement le lieu est pittoresque et vaut vraiment le coup d'être découvert. Je recommande vivement.

We received a wonderfully warm welcome from staff pursuing the highest standards of customer care and engagement. The Hotel la Prison is part boutique hotel, part immersive cultural experience, part modern art gallery. And the sum of the parts is a unique hotel experience. Really enjoyed the quality of the breakfast, even if range limited (curated!), in the attached bistro and the ambition in the evening meal we had in the same location.

Wow! What an amazing place to stay! The prison is in an incredible location in the heart of old Béziers and with stunning views over the river and countryside. It has been beautifully restored to a high standard, with original features and modern artistic touches. We loved the concept of being able to sleep in a cell, whilst having features of a boutique hotel like swimming pool and gourmet breakfast. Simon Calder (famous British travel journalist) was staying there the same night as us, so it must be trending! Spend at least one night there while prices are still low and before it gets too well known!

Lovely location with views out over the river Orb. Right next to Cathedral. Close to several very pleasant restaurants. Very walkable to Hotel de Ville, tourist office, market hall, Carrefour, laundromat, Plateau des Poetes and Jardin de la Plantade parks, SNCF train station, transit hub at Place DeGaulle, and lots of shopping of all kinds.

Never made it to this hotel. We spent over an hour looking for it. We could not even park our rental car close by to find the hotel by foot. NO PARKING TO BE FOUND ANYWHERE. No hotel to be found, no parking so we could walk around to look. Driving to this hill, the streets are very narrow ( not exaggerating at all). We found another hotel at the center of town.

What can be said that has not already been said? Wow! We loved that the staff were as enthusiastic about a hotel, formerly a prison, as we were. The art work in the room/cell and through out the building was amazing, thought provoking and modern. The room in "prison chic" was very comfortable and spacious for two tired cycle tourists. Plus, a super secure place to store our bikes, much appreciated. Breakfast was fantastic with lots of variety and worth the price. Our only regret is not being in Beziers when the restaurant was open for evening meals. Definitely one of the most unique places we have stayed and the most memorable. Merci to the whole team that make this place a joy to stay in.

It was an amazing experience staying at the prison hotel. The rooms were of course small which is expected for a prison and part of the entire experience. The attached bathroom was quite roomy and everything was clean and bright. Even though there was no air conditioning in the room it was very comfortable by opening a large window that let a nice breeze in - even in the middle of July. If you stay here I would highly recommend their restaurant for dinner - reservations are strongly recommended.
