The Bygone

We rented 5 rooms and were were disappointed this time. The office was closed Saturday morning until 8:15 and that was late for continental breakfast. Sunday and Monday mornings they were closed completely. They gave us some cards to go to town and get coffee and a pastry but it would have been nice to have it there. There was coffee supplied in the rooms but difficult to find a place to plug it in to. Sunday afternoon we were leaving the pool area (which had the door propped open, and a lady who had just parked her car, and 2 teenage girls, was heading towards the swimming area. The lady said she was going swimming and one of the girls asked if there was a restroom they could use. When asked if they had a room there they said no. So the place is no longer secured. Very disappointed this time and we aren't going back.

I booked this place for the view, and it was as great as I expected. The pool area had cabanas, which was unexpected but found lovely. Since, I didn't pay too much attention to the rooms, I was very pleasantly surprised by how clean and nice they were. The bed was very comfortable, and the layout was great. Definitely a place to keep on the return list.

This was such a cute, comfortable property. Would like to be able to get ice before I left but it was behind a locked door.

Beautiful spot and hidden gem! Love the trail on-site, the reading room, balcony views, fire pit & pool!! Near the cutest town Wimberley and not far from Greune Hall! Loved our stay!

Cute little boutique style hotel with a great pool and beautiful grounds. Loved the lawn area with games and all the little deck spots to enjoy a drink on. The sauna was a plus, and so was the little hiking trail. We’ll come back!

Towels provided at poolside. Lovely hand soap and body wash. The in-room beverage amenities were very lacking: no tea, almost empty container of sugar/sweeteners with one lone powdered creamer, no utensils or stir sticks for the coffee. If you're going to provide a kettle and hot drinks, I expect better. Comfortable towels and linens, but one of the washcloths was stained with brown spots and there was only one hand towel. The check-in process was clunky and not transparent. In the morning, I got a text telling me check-in time was 3pm and asking me to tell them if I would be arriving late. (It was not clear if I needed to arrive at precisely 3pm, not a reasonable expectation for many guests, I imagine). I responded that I would be arriving late and received no reply. When I arrived, I had to text again to get instructions how to access my room. Given the rural location and spotty cellphone coverage (it took several minutes for the messages to go through), this is a hassle and confusion that could easily have been avoided by sending the info earlier. I would also have appreciated an explanation that the facility is essentially unstaffed. On my last day there was nobody around and the fire pit was shut off. Knowing what I know now (and at non-eclipse prices), I would likely return to The Bygone.

I love the hotel and the grounds. I wish I had known of the trails onsite so I could’ve brought proper hiking shoes. I enjoyed the whimsical property and I would 100% return in the future. We enjoyed the pool and the reading room. The staff were friendly and accommodating.

We had a wonderful stay at the Bygone. It was fun to swim in the pool which was very clean and relax poolside. The hike around the property was nice.

Gosh, only regret is not arriving earlier and staying longer!! Beautiful ambiance, outstanding architecture, just a great place to stay and enjoy! The Den - PERFECT! The Pool - OUTSTANDING! Just book it - and stay longer than what your plans allow!

This is a cute location with a good concept but they had projects going on and stuff everywhere. There was a sewer odor in our room, the view was of trash, junk and misc project items. The dinner and mixology class was cancel at the last minute, breakfast was canceled at 7am, and the room was tiny with no where to put anything. The property is located right off the road and there was road noise all night and you can hear the other guests. It wasn’t what we had hoped and decided to move locations. Staff were nice, good with communication and helpful but some things are out of their control. I’m hope they get their projects done, things cleaned up and issues resolved. It could be a fun place. Excellent choice for a stay in the Wimberley area, including San Marcos, only 15 minutes away! We loved the hotel! It was clean, modern, spacious, and the views from the rooms were AMAZING! Check-in was easy and breakfast bites were included. We were offered free yoga classes and mixology classes, but we were there for a Texas State University graduation and therefore didn’t have time to enjoy them. The pool was lovely although we didn’t have time to swim either! We will definitely be back, and will recommend this place to everyone we know. Oh! Also, the beds and pillows were extremely comfortable! Loved it!

Our room was very clean. The staff was very accommodating. Wonder views and relaxing atmosphere.

The Wi-Fi did not work during our stay, causing the TV to be unusable. Also, we ran out of hot water after 1 shower. The beds were amazingly comfortable and the view was fantastic. We enjoyed the bar and reading room.

What an incredible find! My parents and I booked one night here, after being unsuccessful in finding a hotel in town that allowed only one night on the weekends; and I am so happy it worked out the way it did! This property was so cute and well maintained, with charming details every way you looked. The staff was very friendly and responsive, rooms were clean, pool area was lovely, the nature trail was perfect for a little morning exercise and the balconies were a wonderful spot to drink morning coffee and enjoy the beautiful hill country views. The little kitty even kept me company in the morning—very friendly! If we ever come to Wimberley again, this is where we'll stay again, hands down! Loved it!

The hotel reached out to us before we arrived. Check in was easy. We had a concen with the room that was promptly taken care of. We had an excellent stay!

I had a reservation for two nights for Thanksgiving to visit my grandchildren. Two days before Thanksgiving I ended up in the emergency room with a serious medical condition and was advised I could not drive. I called to cancel the reservation and they had already charged my credit card for two nights and refused to provide a refund, partial or complete. The owner called me and said he would reach out to me after Thanksgiving to work something out but I have not heard from him.

The staff here is great and great location. Also Uber does pick up and drop off here in case you’re worried about being too far from the square.

A great place to stay very close to shopping and restaurants in Wimberley. Beautiful lodging, very nicely decorated. Had a wonderful view of surrounding area. My friend and I enjoyed a free Mixology class and cooled off in the beautiful pool.

Quiet property just outside town of Wimberley. We had a quaint, clean room overlooking the pool. Beautiful view. Excellent air-conditioning and no complaints other than they could use a keurig coffee maker in room. It's a short walk to lobby for free coffee so not a big deal. Lovely, friendly staff and would definitely come back!

No microwave and no easy access to ice no food options

Everything here was awesome. They had yoga on Saturday morning, and the lobby area had good coffee, drinks, and snacks. The staff was very friendly. Overall just a very good looking property with an awesome view around the pool area. The rooms interior was so cool. We loved the shower! We loved everything here. I’d highly recommend this place.

Needed to have regular coffee along with flavored otherwise great place to stay
