Disappointed the pool was closed and the place is really getting run down. For the price over $250 and a premium room just not worth the value. Plus pull out bed was broken just really not well kept property. Staff was very friendly but hope the pool and property get a revamp.

The pool is the reason we made reservations for our stay. Very upset that was not online that pool was out of order. Ruined our stay. I had a 5 yr old very upset when we went to the hotel for his birthday so he could swim.

It was a strange hotel. The pool was closed, as was the restaurant, although they provided breakfast. The location was convenient to Main st...but slim pickins re food options

Nice older hotel. Fireplace a nice touch. Dim lit bathroom overall, but also had bulb out in vanity fixture. Parking lot in poor condition and could use a repave.

Excellent. Super comfy beds & pillows, spacious. Amazing location - walk out 2nd floor to main street, lots of parking in rear by front door (signage lacking a little). Very clean, staff perfect, nice breakfast on weekends, decent continental weekdays. across from Foothills Performing Arts. Wonderful little areas for computer work. Indoor pool (but spa was inop). Rooms a little dated, but any negatives reviews are truly unwarranted. This will be my go to hotel in Oneonta when balancing price point. (note restaurant no longer operating).

They should not call it a GYM. There's an old treadmill that doesn't turn on, and an Elliptical that's literally from the 80s. They need to update that room NOW.

The hotel staff were very helpful and professional! The building was beautiful and probably was amazing in its heyday! Now the bar and dining are closed! The parking lots many lights were all out and the parking lot itself was broken and uneven! Felt a little unsafe coming back to hotel late at night!

The Marx hotel needs a ton of tlc. The parking lot is filled with huge potholes. The outside is obviously not taken care of. Condition of the contents of the rooms is run down. It’s unfortunate as it’s in a prime location and oh yeah on the day we checked out the elevator was oos and we had to carry all our luggage & everything we brought down 4 flights. No apologies & no bell service.

We had stains on our sheets. The room had a really weird/funny smell to it. The shower took forever to drain. There were cobwebs in the corners of the room. Dirt on the carpets like it was never vacuumed the closer you got to the wall. Just did not feel comfortable there whatsoever.

The worst place I have ever stayed. I honestly wish we wld have just left! So dirty and in desperate need of repairs. Faucet fell off in my hand when I turn on the water. Shower curtain was stained and torn in multiple places. Lamp shades torn n stained. Cabinet beside fridge was filthy. I would NOT recommend. So upset that we wasted our money on this place!!!

The hotel is extremely under maintenanced. The carpets had questionable stains, the ceiling had mold and was chipping right about the beds were you lay down. The grounds outside of the hotel were also not maintained well. And the entire hotel had a very moldy odor. And the breakfast was a total joke. Especially for $300/night. I was totally ripped off.

Very disappointed in the property. Not healthy to stay in a place over ran with mold and mildew in bathroom, including all over the walls, tub and phone located in bathroom. Mold was coming out of shower head and jets in tub. They would not change rooms due to no more availability. Health department should check into this location

Staff was super friendly, but the hotel itself needed some TLC and/or renovation. Has potential to be a beautiful property. As a side note, there is a train with a very loud whistle/horn that will run through multiple times a night. It will wake you up. I wish I knew this before booking...

Hotel had minimal outdoor lighting - it was actually difficult to see the entrance when we arrived at the hotel to check in. Did not realize that the hotel was a bit dated- doors to outside had to be held open in order to get baggage cart in and out. The room itself was large but again the furniture was dated and well used. The room had decent lighting. The access to Main Street from second floor of hotel was a nice bonus. But proximity to Main Street on a Friday night resulted in loud music permeating the room until 2 AM. Small room heater/AC was not very accurate (again, maybe a bit outdated so difficult to control).

This hotel was fine, but it needs a major renovation and update. We booked 2 queens on Expedia, but when we checked in they said the hotel doesn’t even have a 2 queen option, only 2 fulls or one king. The staff was very nice, I felt bad for them because they probably get a lot of complaints about the hotel. The location was convenient, downtown Oneonta is adorable.

Let’s start with the name change and not informing guests. The carpet was bumpy and dirty and pieced together in our room and in the hallways. There was significant mold in the bathroom. The shower curtain was ripped so water kept getting going all over the floor. The toilet ran incessantly and even my handy hubby couldn’t get it to stop. The beds literally were sinking and mushy. Let’s add the horrific noise from outside that lasted until 2 in the morning, with windows so awful it felt like the noise was right in the room. You can hear everything that’s said and done in the rooms next door to you and in the halls. I had crabby kids the next day with little sleep- every time they were woken up so were we. Add in the absent staff, with the constant be right back sign at the front desk anytime we were coming or going. Not what it looks like on line. My husband described it as cross between the Shining and Bates movie feel and he is really easy going.

The Marx Hotel has a good location in downtown Oneonta. The Internet was good. During my one-night stay, I found the hotel to be clean. The free breakfast was decent - a batter to make waffles, English muffins, scrambled eggs, sausage, yogurt and orange juice. The hotel needs to be refurbished, but I got what I expected for the price. So I was satisfied overall with my stay.

I highly recommend staying here! Emily made our trip to Cooperstown so much better! She went above and beyond to make sure our trip was memorable! By far the best hotel I have ever stayed at. I travel a lot so I see a lot of them. What separates this hotel from all the others? Emily. Thank you Emily for help making our trip to Cooperstown memorable. We won't forget you and the amazing hospitality you showed to me and my kids. If you need a place to stay, this is the best. Their customer service is second to none!!!

I could go into a long shpiel about the reasons we had to have our room.changed 3 times in one night, but crud like that happens, right. Having 2 young individuals, one who had just started working there, trying to run a fairly large facility with no manager, rowdy guests, filthy rooms, and no security is extremely unsafe. They both were trying their hardest to run the show, but it was unfair to expect them to handle their jobs along w the many downfalls of this run down place. We just left. At 11:30pm. We did get our money back, though, and im thankful for that.

No breakfast for 2 days when breakfast is supposed to be included. Reason was staff shortage. Toilet in room was broken upon arrival. Advised Front desk. Front desk did not communicate to maintenance. After waiting 2 days maintenance could not fix so had to move to new room. Front desk advised I had to pack my stuff and proceed to desk in order to get new key instead of assisting in the move by bringing me new key. Very unfriendly and no sense of hotel hospitality. Moved to 5th floor. Elevator broken. Had to walk 5 flights stairs for 2 days. Went to open pull out sofa and the sheets were stained and dirty.

Hotel was quiet, room was clean and tidy. No fireplace, but there was a mini fridge hidden away in one of the cabinets, as well as a microwave on the desk. The hotel’s right around the corner from the center of Main Street, so there’s plenty of shops and eateries to walk through. All in all, a pretty good experience for my first solo trip.

The excellent staff was friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was very good: scrambled eggs, sausage/bacon, potatoes, waffle station, fruit, juice, coffee and a variety of teas. Large Jacuzzi tube. The hotel is old and was being remodeled so the pool was closed. Also an issue with the plumbing that was easy to resolve. We would stay there again. It is 20-30 minutes from The Cooperstown Dream Park.

Hotel is old - technically “shabby chique”. Front desk people were awesome and helpful. Hallway Rugs, etc showing years of wear and abuse. On a scale of 5 - room merits a solid 4. Dining room is closed. Continental breakfast options slim on the days when chef is off :) Would recommend
