Cool experience staying in the dorm room area. Everyone there were pleasant. Carlos was very helpful, informative. The downstairs area clean, quiet for completing my computer work. Management was very responsive with key lock issues. The place is well run and well located.

Great hostel like property in Wicker Park. I stay here for business as it has a great business center. I have experienced both the dorm and individual rooms. Every time I have come it has been very clean, I get quick responses from management if I have an issue (door code not working) and most everyone I have met here have been friendly. Location is awesome. Walking distance to a Michelin star restaurant, great small pubs nearby, Jewl-Osco, Barnes and Noble, etc. Always very clean.

I arrived after midnight, so I appreciated that they provide a door code so I could let myself in. It was a quiet, clean and pleasant place to sleep on a budget and included a shared bathroom and kitchen area with a fridge to store food.

It's a hostel. One shared bathroom between 4 rooms. Small bedrooms. But really all you need. The steps to get in are very steep. Cleaning crew did a great job keeping towels and toilet paper stocked. They cleaned the common areas daily. Location was walkable and safe with lots of food options nearby. Kitchen was nice. We had an issue with our code working when we arrived due to daylight savings time changing and they answered the phone and took care of things for us. Felt like they genuinely wanted us to have a good stay without problems. Not disappointed in our choice to stay here.

Overall, a solid stay on a budget. Getting a turn to use the bathroom or shower can be challenging at peak times when there are more than a couple of other tenants. Facilities were quite clean, for the most part. Walls are thin, so you'll hear other stayers coming up, especially if you're in room 2. I slept fine, but it did keep waking up my wife (she used earbuds on the remaining nights and slept ok). Though we didn't go, there's a well reviewed restaurant called Mott Street next door that looked and smelled amazing. If we come back to this neighborhood, we'd probably try it out. There's also a Jewel Osco supermarket nearby. I wished there were tissues available, in addition to toilet paper, but that's a minor gripe. I also wished the shampoo foamed more. Overall, I'd give Stay 424 a 8.5/10.

Spent the night after a concert. Perfect for what I needed. Bathroom was clean. Shower had great water pressure. Kitchen is clean with all the amenities. Kuereg as well. Room was clean and just what I needed after a concert. A place to crash. Walking distance to great food and shops in the wicker park neighborhood. Would definitely stay here again! Walkable to the salt shed where I saw porno for pyros. Great concert!

Claims there’s free parking but can’t park on the street Monday-Friday from 7-9 AM bc of street cleaning. Had to wake up at 6 just to move the car. A lot of issues with the codes to get into the house as well. Had to call the owner every time we wanted back in. But altogether it’s a comfy place to sleep & the house is clean. Great for one night.

I stayed in the dorm. The bed was nice and I really like the layout of the space. Staff was super nice. Having the attached work space is really cool. Parking really sucks. This isnt any fault of the hostel, though. I had to search for over an hour for a parking space that didnt involve me walking over a mile.

I was in town for work up North, and picked 424 because it was close to a venue I was going to that night. It was perfect for what I needed, just a bed and shower, and everything was clean and secure. I said hello to a couple other travelers in passing, but never had to wait for the bathroom. My only concern was that the ad said free parking, and, not being familiar with the area, I was expecting a small parking lot nearby. It turns out it's really, "free parking available in the street". But there were in fact several spaces nearby at the time, so no problem. Everything went perfectly. I saw a great show, had an awesome night, and crashed in a comfy bed nearby.

Great price for a quick trip to town. Far cheaper than many Airbnb or hotel rooms. Great service and communication from staff. Common areas were kept clean.

I did not know the room would be shared with other people. The bathtub was also shared and disgusting. There was a clump of hair in the drain. Parking was on the city street. I did not stay here, so i went somewhere else

Hate to leave a bad review, I’m they are good people. Little out of their control but people were up at 2am in the morning slamming stuff around and cooking/cleaning making noise. The walls are paper thin so you hear everything. WiFi didn’t work. I don’t think anyone could get into the office/work area. I would go to the bathroom and come back and be locked out of my room. The shower towels smelt like they weren’t cleaned. I payed for the private room so I thought it would be a better experience. The bed was comfortable. Super boxed in with no window in the room. I ended up leaving a few days early because I just could handle it anymore and I was loosing sleep. A lot of old food just hanging out in the fridge and not a lot of space to put your own food.

My stay was great.I only have one complaint I was assigned a top bunk. The top bunks in the dormitory were very hard For me to climb. I stayed three nights the next two nights.I slept on the couch. Other than that, it was clean quiet. And a great place to stay when you're on a budget and just need a book place to crash

Great area, we felt safe in the hostel and walking back at night. The free street parking was nice as well. Staff and other residents staying were very friendly. We couldn’t get the bathroom shower head to turn on. Also, we stayed in a private room in the summer and although they provided a mini A/C unit, it didn’t help the heat at all during the day. You could feel the A/C in the kitchen and hallway but unfortunately our room was just facing the sun. Luckily the owner was super kind and brought us a fan. Our room did cool down at night. Overall we needed a quick, affordable stay and this was a good option in the city.

After the worst night of sleep ever at a "hotel" (it's a hostel) it's tough to give this two stars. We realized it was warm when we came in for the night I'm the hotel but never assumed that at 5 am we'd wake up to sweating and struggle breathing. In a moment of panic looked at the thermostat I'm the hall to realize it was set at 86°!?!?! My friend had the top bunk of the room and also is asthmatic. It was probably closer to 90° for him on that bunk and vent blowing no stop at a temperature that kills bacteria. Being a converted apartment, the unit was loud since being off the kitchen and common space.

This place it’s a rip off. They charged me and I couldn’t even get in to my room. Nobody answers their phone. No front desk no emergency line and even if it is they don’t pick up the phone. I had to sleep on the st of Chicago 20 degrees. I don’t recommend this place stay away

It’s in a good location and a short walk to Division station. I was in a private room but the dorms look ok. No staff on site, all done through coded door locks. The washer/dryer was good. I had a problem with someone entering my room at 1am, scared the crap out of me. He left, went out the door with no explanation. They say it was the manager responding to a disturbance but the place was and had been quiet all evening! And why would a manager enter someone’s private room at 1am!!??

With prices in Chicago’s hotels astronomical, I happened to find this little gem for much less. If you’re not game to share a bathroom, it’s not for you. But it has everything one would need in a series of studio apartments. It was quiet and very accommodating in a happenin’ location.
