Galaxy Hotel Downtown

Brand new hotel so clean and rooms are spacious. Unfortunately amenities are not yet available ,rooms have some drinks and coffee maker but restaurant and cafe are closed. $30 valet ,otherwise no easy overnight garages

This is a 12 story hotel, with roughly 9 parking spaces. Each parking space comes with a car lift. Your car can't fit on the lift because American cars are to big. I managed to get into a space, but couldn't get out of my car because the spaces are to narrow. I tried another space, and the maneuverability is very difficult due to the limited space. Eventually, my left tire fell off the lift. and my axle got stuck, so my car was stuck. I asked the front desk for help, they said call AAA. A AAA vehicle could not get into the parking garage. I was able to jack up my car and get it unstuck. I went to the sister property to park. I guess it is so unsafe, you have to have a code to get in the lobby. There were two cars parked in front of the entrance so I couldn't pull through. Someone finally let me in and showed me where to park. But I was not going to leave my car 2 blocks away from the hotel, and with vagrants sitting at the entrance getting high. I immediately checked out and went to a different hotel. I would never recommend the Galaxy hotel to anyone, nor will I ever go back.

The hotel is still a work in progress. There is no valet parking yet and no rooftop bar yet, but they are working on it. The hotel is in a great location by the bay, which was perfect for what we wanted to do. I would like to stay again when everything is complete.

No gym or breakfast, guests were loud, room smell faintly of weed, off-site parking.

Parking was hard to come by so we had to valet park because free parking was far away from hotel. Bathroom in room had no ventilation and the shower had nowhere to place your soap. We didn't have enough towels for our family so we had to go downstairs to get some. The available ice machine was on the first floor. We were in the 6th floor. On the Hotels.com site it stated that they had cook to order breakfast for $16.99 I believe but all they had was a small coffee shop with a limited hours of operations. There were issues with the elevator where you would press the button the doors would close and the elevator would not move till you pressed the floor button for a second time. If I never stay at the Galaxy Hotel again it would be too soon for me.

The hotel was nice and clean, but the beds are very hard and they only have about 10 parking spaces. You have to park in paid public parking garages a few blocks from the hotel.

Pros: Nice remodel in the lobby! Very friendly staff! Fast elevators. Very good location for the Indy Race in March. Really nice pillows. Cons: Limited parking and pull-up space. The remodel in the rooms had a lot of cheap stick-on fixtures and was short in many ways. The water pipes are not properly fastened so you hear pipes banging as toilets are flushed, sinks and showers are turned on and off, and other rooms use water sources too. Horrible mattress has a huge dip in the center and edges. Issues: Low water pressure for the shower. Almost no hot water flow at the sink. Shower hot/cold was reversed, so our kids got burned in the water during the first use. Leaking pipes in the shower wall so you had to deal with the tapping sounds of the dripping water in the wall for the duration of each shower use and about 5-10 minutes after. Became annoying after 30 minutes of constant tapping. We used the TV to drown out the sound. Overall thoughts: Not a bad choice if it were half the price we paid. But, for what we were charged per night, we expected a nice property with no issues and a more comfortable accommodation. What they have going for them is a friendly staff who is obviously trying their best to make up for the shortcomings of the property itself.

No where to park

Website says valet parking and there is not, not even on site parking you have to park at a sister hotel 2 blocks down and walk back,there is no restaurant on site and the rooftop bar does not exist.

Only option to park is valet parking. Valet person was complaining that the garage is too small and that he has to move all the cars just to move one out so we decided to uber instead of driving our own car to avoid any trouble. After checking out and getting our car back, we found a GIANT deep scratch in the car— probably because of all the car-Tetris that the valet person was talking about. Very very disappointing that this happened. Overall the property is fine but damaging my car is a major issue and I would not recommend that anyone stays here especially if they plan to use their own car.

Our second night was miserable. Around 8:30pm furniture was being dragged across the floor above our room for an event. This was followed by loud talking & laughing as the event was held. Afterwards, more dragging of furniture. It was after 2am before the noise ended. Management refused to credit us for the inconvenience, when they could have easily relocated us to a different room. Also, room was "cleanish", advertised minibar was a minifridge with one wine glass & dirty coffee pot. You should remove this hotel from your site - it does not live up to your standards. It was in a convenient location.

The mold smell in the bathroom was so bad we were not able to shower, for $400 a night I was appalled by this

Pluses are location, adjacent parking garage and spacious suite with a lovely view. Minuses no television in living room, very dirty shower, no paper products besides toilet paper, could have used tissues and napkins for the kitchen. The “mini bar” was a handful of soda & water in the refrigerator. Some upgrades still needed for these rates.

The property was dirty from the entrance of the hotel. The handle of the door was taped down from the inside. W

The hotel is unfinished. The rooms lack convenience. They used sticky strips to hang your towels on. The windows are dirty-effects having a nice view. The walls and doors are dirty with handprints & thick dried unknown gunk on them. Figuring out the light switches is a mess whoever designed that was not using their brain. The sleek tiles mixed with the cheap rug in the room is a slip and fall waiting to happen. Found blood stain on the bed sheet. Bathroom robe is cheap and itchy. Hotel does not have bell hopper carts to unload your luggage which is truly an inconvenience after traveling and booking a “4 star” hotel. If you need something at night you will need to come down to the front desk to get it. There is not help or workers. There is no info in the room about breakfast or the cafe down stairs so if you don’t know, you won’t know. Also, there is no parking for guests. You will need to pay 30$ a day for Valet or park across the street in the parking garage for 20$ a day. This place really took the cheap route when building this hotel and it shows. The pros: location is great ! Short 5 minute walk to Vinnoy park and all the great restaurants on Beach Dr ! The coffee shop down stairs is wonderful & the girls working it are sweet.

Everything was great. But there was a strong smell of mold present. The building had some issues and they were working on it.

Awesome location. A Great Staff and great rooms near everything St. PETERSBURG has to offer. Ill start with; I'm a contractor so i notice things others might not. This new hotel is great but it never was completed properly little items like lose mirror, water hammer when the faucet is turned off or on, wall paper edge curling, poor drywall finish to the mirror and vanity, stained shower pan, paint on wall paper at the ceiling ETC. The airconditioner failed and we had to be moved to another room. Stuff happens,especially in a new hotel,and the airconditioner quit workinstaff was great about this and stuff happens. They pretty much gave us the option to pick any available room.The room we picked had a view of the city and the bay Great room. This room also had minor repairs needed Lol They should hire me. The breakfast needs alot of help. Food was not good at all. There is an awsome rooftop view durring breakfast hours. The wife asked for me to mention they needed Tea bags. We were there a week and I would stay there again.

No down stair restaurant and can’t access roof top bar room was dirty hair all over bed

I liked that I got a balcony room with great views. The bed was incredibly comfortable with great pillows, large room very clean and spacious. Loved the large bathroom with walk-in shower. The downfalls, though they are minor, the toilet was not secure, the toilet paper holder was not secure, there was no towel bar or hook near the sink. It was just a stick up hook - weird and the water pressure was AWFUL! Other than that the room was incredible and I would stay again. I had a slight issue with billing, but Randy [Supervisor] handled it all for me and was very patient with me, as I was getting heated as he was saying I took 8 items from the mini-bar when there was NO mini bar in my room, just a fridge. He actually went above and beyond by reimbursing me for all items, even though he didn't need to do that. I am VERY impressed. The breakfast is on the "rooftop bar" and $10 for those rooms where it is not included. So there is no Rooftop bar to hang out in per say and no restaurant onsite, but it is coming soon. The entry to the hotel was beautiful. **FYI there is NO parking there. It's either pay $30 with tax for valet or $20 plus tax off-hours where you park in their tiny garage yourself. You cannot park overnight at any garages near them, but they do have an agreement with another hotel a block or so over, where you can park but you will have a walk back to the hotel with your luggage and such. But its better than nothing.

The room was spacious and so upscale for the price. The coffee bar in the lobby was so good and convenient!

Everything was great just a little loud with the thin walls.

I reported that our mini fridge was not cooling, and it was never resolved. The fact that the televisions could not get live TV and had to be a streaming service was very unacceptable. The coffee shop was very good

A/C was not the best

Big room, view of the ocean, comfortable beds, only downside was the neighbors that kept slamming the door at 11pm.

The reason for the four stars is because the TV Wi-Fi didn’t work. I had to use personal hotspot on my phone and use all of my data and half the data on another phone.704

This hotel is not yet finished. It will be great when it is done. I chose it for the rooftop bar, which when I found it, was a pile of chairs in an unfinished space. But the location is great and the staff very nice. It will be fantastic when it is finished. The air conditioning is very loud, our balcony door had no lock, light switches were miswired, there were stickers on the toilet and plastic sheeting on the windows, the TV is right in front of the window that has the ocean view... it is safe and clean and friendly, but a bit of a disorganized mess right now. I probably will not go back.

This property is fantastic! Randy and Jason, at the front desk, were very helpful, friedly, and attentive!

Be careful booking this place and prepaying for your stay the front desk personnel completely lack the know how and have no problem double charging you. Im personally still waiting on my refund even after contacting hotels.com

I don’t often feel compelled to write reviews on these but this was absolutely one of my best hotel experiences ever. Randy is an absolute gem and welcomed these Canadians with open arms :) will definitely stay here again sometime!

Everything was great! Randy was extremely pleasant and empathetic to our travel experience with the traffic. Very accommodating and helpful. The room was very clean and cozy. The area was perfect and within walking distance to so many shops, restaurants and entertainment. I’ll definitely be returning in the future.

Very nice property and great staff! We had issues at another hotel and were lucky to find a room in any hotel as it was a very busy weekend. We arrived early and Paula was very helpful getting us a room with a great view. The girls working in the coffee shop were friendly and Randy at the front desk was great as well. We visit St Pete at least once a year and this is the nicest hotel we've stayed at. Great place with great customer service.

I want to be constructive as I had a really great stay at the Galaxy. It is VERY obvious that this is a new/recently fully refurbished hotel. The staff were all VERY friendly but very new and inexperienced. It was super clean, but also obvious that construction is either still going on or is barely (and somewhat NOT) complete. There was unfinished drywall in the ceiling of the bathroom, this is going to be VERY bad in the future and I am hoping is not left that way. You are giving people body wash but not providing wash cloths. You have a coffee shop with no menu and VERY inexperienced staff trying their hardest, but failing, with a smile. I really want to stay here again in the future and I want them to succeed they just need to correctly finish the hotel and get some time under their belts. Please stay here, it was a great experience but also be honest with feedback to help them improve.

This place was decent. The ac wouldnt get colder than 72 which was not fun. They need vetter communication. I was told i could have an 11:45 check out and by 11:05 we were being harrasssd to leave our room or pay 75 dollars if i was there at 1130. So one employee tells me one thing and another boots you out. So disappointed

Friendly and helpful valet as soon as we arrived! Check in was quick and the place was beautiful! Love the coffee/breakfast shop right in the lobby! Super convenient and really good! Our room was spacious, clean and we had everything we needed! The location can’t be beat!! We parked our car and never had to get back in! We walked everywhere! Love how walkable the area is! They even have a trolley nearby or you can easily rent scooters or bikes! Highly recommend this hotel!

I’d like to give a HUGE shout out to Daniel, at the front desk. The level of hospitality he provided, consistently, throughout our stay is by far the best and most attentive I have ever received while traveling. He personally ensured we received items we requested, such as towels, and offered many suggestions for exploring the city. While the actual property is standard, in terms of the rooms offered, Daniel went above and beyond to ensure our stay was top tier. The level of hospitality was definitely reflective of a higher end hotel. The cleanliness of the hotel can most definitely use attention and improvement. Thanks Daniel!

It’s my first time staying at the Galaxy and it will not be my last. Daniel at the front desk is exceptional. Makes you feel more than welcome. Outstanding customer service. The rooms are very clean and all the staff is very friendly. Walking distance from restaurants and shops. Highly recommend.

Beautiful hotel with great location in downtown St. Pete. Walking distance to Pier, Vinoy Park, dining, night life!

Galaxy hotel is perfectly located near everything that downtown St Pete has to offer. It is walking distance to shopping, dining, and the waterfront. It is a simple hotel with not too many frills, but very clean and accommodating. The room is spacious and we had beautiful views of the water. The bed was firm and bouncy and not the best quality, but the pillows were nice. The room was very clean, I like the tile floors and the slippers and robe they provide. Albeit there should've have been 2 sets since we were 2 people staying but that's not really that big of a deal. There is a little cafe in the lobby, but that's about all there is that is extra.

Excellent location. It’s walking distance to the St. Pete Pier, downtown bars, restaurants, and the waterfront. You’re close to the action without the noise. Perfect if you’re exploring on foot.

The location of this hotel is outstanding. It's one block from Beach Drive, which offers several shops, restaurants and bars. It's also close to the Pier and Vinoy Park. I would gladly stay at the Galaxy Hotel again.

Breakfast was excellent. The two ladies running the food area were super - helpful, friendly, and efficient

The breakfast was terrible. they were out of everything including coffee so we went downstairs to the “coffee cafe” no one was there so I asked The manager at front desk and she said they were closed I told her there was no coffee upstairs and she just shrugged and said well thats the only place for coffee. I again told her there was none and she just again shrugged her shoulders. Pretty bad customer service.

Everything was excellent except for the continental breakfast. The food was terrible. Sooo, I paid $10 for a yogurt. Ugghhh
