The property & staff were 5 star. The only areas that fell a little short of the top rating were the bed a bit too firm, & the buffet breakfast was not as plentiful in selection as some other Italian hotels we'd stayed in. However the cooked items at breakfast were excellent.

This is a nice hotel and not our first time there. Generally, this a nice place and the staff can be friendly and helpful BUT on this visit we chose to ‘pay at the hotel’ when booking. Upon arrival all was well until the evening of the last night and the credit card on file with Hotels.com was used to settle the bill. We promptly tried to use an alternate credit card and the staff refused. They claimed it was not possible due to booking on Hotels.com. This is not true; they simply refused to do it.

I was staying in a Junior Suite and the room was of a good size and also the bathroom. The furniture had seen better days and the shower in the bath is no longer a luxury facility! The breakfast room is a beautiful room but unfortunately the quality of the food, the variety of food or the service were all lacking. There was a menu on the table for you to order a hot breakfast but no one came near you....i had to go and get the staff on both days I had breakfast there. I would like to point out that the people at reception were very good and professional. The hotel basically needs improving in appearance and the service staff need additional guidance in what should be provided in a 4* hotel.
