The Truitt is a beautiful property with lovely rooms, ours included an outdoor patio! The location was great, very close to the Nelson Atkins & Kemper Museums, and very close to the Plaza area. Although, the doors had secure keypad locks. Inside & out so we felt secure. Although, we really enjoyed staying here, it was weird that there wasn’t any staff on site. So that’s just a personal preference.

What an amazing find. Stayed for a Chiefs game for two nights. Clean, easy parking, and a comfortable bed! Only complaint was the noise from the people above us but that’s not the hotels fault! The walls seemed thin. Close to a bunch of great dining/bars as well!

Great little boutique hotel. On site parking is limited so keep that in mind. This place was very clean, quiet, and I felt safe leaving my car in the lot. The price was fair for what was offered. The wifi was very spotty. I'm not sure if they were having issues or if it's always like that. It wasn't a huge deal, but that may vary depending on your needs. Overall I would definitely stay here again.

One of the best boutique hotels we ever stayed. Check in was quick and easy, instructions are clear. The properties are big giant houses well preserved. Interior design is modern and tasteful. Our room is not boutique at all. We have a full function living room with to single couches and a big TV. A full bath room with a big claw foot bath tub. A bed room with California king size bed and another TV. Towels are soft, shampoo, conditioner, body wash all smell so good. The yard is filled with chairs and very well maintained, just like the neighbourhood. There is no elevator to the upper floors, but you can require first level rooms. Will definitely stat here again, if we are driving to Kansas City again.

I stayed in the Carriage House and it was absolutely wonderful! The room was nicely decorated and there was a record player! The star of the room was the clawfoot bathtub- I highly recommend The Truitt!

Parking is not easy, the spaces are limited and street parking is tight. This is a limited contact hotel, so no check in. Directions for getting in and finding your room are in an email. Lots of steps, stairs and rugs. So if you have any mobility concerns, this would be a tough sell. The space is beautiful, but I wouldn't recommend it if someone is unsteady. The room I was in had glass French doors that opened right onto a step, so a bit of maneuvering with an arm full of bags. There was a nice array of welcome notes and chocolates on the bed. But there were random toiletries on the floor. Toilet paper is ridiculously 1ply. I understand boutique hotel, vintage plumbing, but seriously...it left much to be desired. There were 6 separate lamps/lights to turn off and I finally just went to bed with one set on since I couldn't figure out the switch. If someone was a light sleeper that could be an issue. The French Doors into my room had 2 sets of curtains for privacy. Thinking that I pulled them shut to cover the center, I noticed this morning a good bit of opening at the wall edge. Yikes! There was a coffee and Madeline and apple station for the morning, but no clean cups and no disposable cups either. Great gathering spaces for conversation, but no tables to work from in either the common areas or my room.

Nice boutique hotel in a good Kansas City location: walking distance to art museums, short drive to Plaza and Westport, just slightly longer drives to downtown and sports complex. An old mansion, whose ground floor has been turned into an elegant and very pleasant series of seating areas. Rooms on upper floors are nicely renovated, except for electricity: few outlets (not all work) and inadequate lighting weaken stay a bit. Contactless checkin and lack of staff on site take a little getting used to but generally worked pretty well.

Beautiful boutique hotel, in a nice area. You must be aware that there is no staff on site. It is a beautiful home converted to boutique hotel so you are required to climb stairs with your luggage. 3 flights at most.

The Truitt is a beautiful boutique hotel (think Bed and Breakfast without the breakfast). It’s clean, comfortable and very well decorated. The parking situation is terrible though and needs to be addressed. There are only 3 usable off street parking spaces which means that more than 50% of the guests on a given night will be forced to park on the unprotected and very narrow KC city streets. Auto break-ins are a REAL BIG problem in KC which is why the email we received from the Truitt said in bold not to leave anything visible in your car when parking. Even with only 3-4 off street parking spots, we parked closest to the Truitt and got blocked in by the 3 spaces that are behind the KC Art Institute building, which was a real pain in the backside. The home’s driveway leading to the back is also too narrow to fit a full sized car/truck down it, which I suppose is why the property had it blocked off with cones. I would also recommend that the Truitt add a Kourig coffee machine since they only have an espresso shot machine currently. We would like to return but can’t justify doing it until more off street parking is added.

The historic renovated house was fabulous! Beautifully decorated with a homey feel that made it comfortable to hang out in the public areas. Our room was spotless, with wonderful attention to detail. The walk in shower was massive and the waterfall shower head was sheer heaven! The bed was very comfy, although, I must say the down comforter was almost too warm… and that was with the thermostat turned all the way down! This location was perfect, able to walk to 2 of the best art museums easily, and within walking distance to catch the city tram, as well. We loved our stay here and would love to stay here again in the future!

Beautiful place, we would like to come back sometime. Very simple check in, very well decorated, very cool accommodations. The room and the entire facility were very clean, and the bed was very comfortable. My wife’s only complaint was the nearness of the toilet to the sleeping area, with semi private doors—(not because of me). We stayed in 1 B. Ryan and David have done a wonderful job.

Beautiful building, very clean room, everything was handled by txt, shower was wonderful. Only suggestion was my mattress was not comfortable and sheet had strong fragrance [wonderful for most people but I am sensitive to them). I would recommend Truitt.

The room was a little smaller than we expected, but very nice. We could hear people walking around in the hallways but it wasnt crazy loud. The private balcony was nice touch. Everything else was very clean and cozy.

Truitt Hotel is a truly special property, gorgeous and located near fabulous restaurants. Room 2C is large and open with wonderful light, comfortable shower, great linens, and overall beautiful decor. You will feel like you are staying in a luxurious home grounded in good taste and exquisite design aesthetics. Hotel was booked full but I never saw another guest. I was able to walk to fantastic restaurants and felt safe. The nearby chain hotels are a huge disappointment in comparison to the Truitt. I will never stay anywhere else in KC. There is ample street parking which saves you a nightly expense. I can’t recommend this boutique hotel highly enough. Thank you to the conscientious staff who took such great care of me, down to the superb truffles on my bed as a welcome gift. Thank you!!!!

TL:DR: Toilet closet in room with bed, slotted doors used, see image, no staff on sight to help as far as I could tell during my one night stay. If you book through a third party, don't expect to receive the vital email that tells you a) where parking is, and 2) how to even access the hotel at all. Because as far as I could tell in the one night I was there...there wasn't any staff? You ring the doorbell cam and no one answers, you need to call the number listed on the little plaque hanging above the useless doorbell cam? You get the code, hope the door doesn't argue with you too much and there's a little entry way, a little entry room with coffee and a bathroom, a hallway, and staircase leading to more rooms, and two lounge like rooms...but no people. No staff. No convenient access to help if you need it? Honestly I think I coulda brushed all that nonsense aside until I saw the BATHROOM! In the pictures included, the tiny tiny room with the toilet is in the same room as the bed, and it has SLOTTED DOORS! The people outside can't see everything, but that doesn't help much. The room with the shower and sinks was as big, if not bigger, than the room with the bed and toilet, so i can only imagine why they chose to place the TOILET in the room with the bed instead of the room where a toilet belongs???? And to use those types of zero privacy doors, no less.

You get the code, hope the door doesn't argue with you too much and there's a little entry way, a little entry room with coffee and a bathroom, a hallway, and staircase leading to more rooms, and two lounge like rooms...but no people. No staff. No convenient access to help if you need it? Honestly I think I coulda brushed all that nonsense aside until I saw the BATHROOM! In the pictures included, the tiny tiny room with the toilet is in the same room as the bed, and it has SLOTTED DOORS! The people outside can't see everything, but that doesn't help much. The room with the shower and sinks was as big, if not bigger, than the room with the bed and toilet, so i can only imagine why they chose to place the TOILET in the room with the bed instead of the room where a toilet belongs???? And to use those types of zero privacy doors, no less.

We had a wonderful stay at the Truitt - in fact, we decided that this is where we will stay every time we visit KC. Every detail in the common spaces is so well curated, and the hosts are so responsive and friendly. We highly recommend the Truitt or any of the sister properties.

I was super distressed when Ryan SCREAMED at me on the phone because I brought my old small dog into the room. it was a misunderstanding for sure and I was ok to leave and find another hotel. But I am a 72 year old lady who was here to see a dying friend. There was no reason to be abusive to me. I asked him for a time to speak and more than a day later Ryan has not replied to my text. This maybe a place to stay but there is no kindness there. I highly warn everyone that Ryan is not a very kind person and loves to scream at old ladies.

Beautiful place until I was profiled. I wanted to book an additional night, but there was an issue with my booking. When I called Expedia, they confirmed there was no error. That’s when I realized they wanted me to book directly through them to charge me more. When I caught on, they backtracked and said they’d keep the price the same. Unfortunately, this made me extremely uncomfortable, so I chose to book elsewhere. The way they do business felt deceitful. David initially provided good service, but on the last day, he gave me attitude. Ryan lied and claimed there was an error, insisting I needed to book over the phone with them.

The location is next door to the KC Art Institute and just a few blocks from the Nelson-Atkins Art Museum, in a quiet, older, up-scale neighborhood. However, the property does not have a "front desk," and I missed having someone available to tell me such things as where to have breakfast or buy a bottle of wine (it turns out the wine was only 4 blocks away). Nice boutique hotel in a good Kansas City location: walking distance to art museums, short drive to Plaza and Westport, just slightly longer drives to downtown and sports complex. An old mansion, whose ground floor has been turned into an elegant and very pleasant series of seating areas. Rooms on upper floors are nicely renovated, except for electricity: few outlets (not all work) and inadequate lighting weaken stay a bit. Contactless checkin and lack of staff on site take a little getting used to but generally worked pretty well.

I had a great experience at The Truitt. The hosts were very helpful via email and text. I was sent all of the door codes & parking info well ahead of time before check-in. They provided wonderful recommendations on where to go for drinks and live music. The home is gorgeous, stylish, hip, clean… all the things. The bed was extremely comfortable and my room had an attached deck. The other Truitt location is right across the street and is decorated differently but is also such a vibe…. So many windows and lots of natural light 😍 I will be back and be telling everyone I know how great it is!

This is just a very original hotel in that it is an old house (age ?) in excellent, rehabbed condition. The bed was comfortable. The AC was cold. Parking was adequate. It would be a beautiful place for a couple, and a perfect place of you enjoy visiting free, world-class art museums within easy walking distance.

The Truitt is truly AMAZING! So comfortable, clean, and aesthetically wonderful! My wife and I loved the location - close to the Nelson-Atkins Museum, and walkable distances to Q39 BBQ, and Oddly Correct Coffee Shop. We highly recommend The Truitt!

We stayed for 2 nights. The hotel is totally contactless (and paperless) so we never met the owners. Good recommendations for food in the area. Very walkable neighborhood and very close to the Nelson-Atkins Museum and the Kemper Museum. Very quiet place.

Very lovely boutique hotel. No staff on site at night. Use key code entry. Really lovely and warm decor. I block from museums. Great get away spot. Essentially a house converted to a bed and breakfast style experience without the breakfast part. We definitely want to go back.

Interesting and basically wonderful......EXCEPT: A much better coffee arrangement would be quite nice. The only coffee available was a baby kurieg with tinybaby kurieg coffee packets. Othererwise a great experience!! Thank you!

We had a wonderful stay at the Truitt. The hotel is beautifully decorated, and you can tell the owners have put so much thought into each and every detail. When we arrived in the evening it was very easy to park and access the hotel and our rooms. There was an open bottle of prosecco and glasses for the guests in the entryway, which was so thoughtful. Ryan was so easy to reach and communicate with by phone and text and helpful with recommendations. Go ahead and book your room here, you won't regret it!

Parking is not easy, the spaces are limited and street parking is tight. This is a limited contact hotel, so no check in. Directions for getting in and finding your room are in an email. Lots of steps, stairs and rugs. So if you have any mobility concerns, this would be a tough sell. The space is beautiful, but I wouldn't recommend it if someone is unsteady. The room I was in had glass French doors that opened right onto a step, so a bit of maneuvering with an arm full of bags. There was a nice array of welcome notes and chocolates on the bed. But there were random toiletries on the floor. Toilet paper is ridiculously 1ply. I understand boutique hotel, vintage plumbing, but seriously...it left much to be desired. There were 6 separate lamps/lights to turn off and I finally just went to bed with one set on since I couldn't figure out the switch. If someone was a light sleeper that could be an issue. The French Doors into my room had 2 sets of curtains for privacy. Thinking that I pulled them shut to cover the center, I noticed this morning a good bit of opening at the wall edge. Yikes! There was a coffee and Madeline and apple station for the morning, but no clean cups and no disposable cups either. Great gathering spaces for conversation, but no tables to work from in either the common areas or my room.

The Truitt is a beautiful boutique hotel (think Bed and Breakfast without the breakfast). It’s clean, comfortable and very well decorated. The parking situation is terrible though and needs to be addressed. There are only 3 usable off street parking spaces which means that more than 50% of the guests on a given night will be forced to park on the unprotected and very narrow KC city streets. Auto break-ins are a REAL BIG problem in KC which is why the email we received from the Truitt said in bold not to leave anything visible in your car when parking. Even with only 3-4 off street parking spots, we parked closest to the Truitt and got blocked in by the 3 spaces that are behind the KC Art Institute building, which was a real pain in the backside. The home’s driveway leading to the back is also too narrow to fit a full sized car/truck down it, which I suppose is why the property had it blocked off with cones. I would also recommend that the Truitt add a Kourig coffee machine since they only have an espresso shot machine currently. We would like to return but can’t justify doing it until more off street parking is added.

Beautiful property in a quant neighborhood. The property was clean and very well maintained. The decor was classy and welcoming. Parking is a little tight, but it is off street. We stayed on the third floor. There is not an elevator, but other than when we brought our luggage in from the car, the walk wasn't bad. We were disappointed that there were no breakfast offerings and coffee was only available on the first floor. We inquired about spa services via email but did not receive a reply. The bed was perfect, and the bedding was clean and smelled fresh. The room was small, but adequate. The bathroom was tiny. Showering was a little difficult for my husband because of the way the shower was built into the room. All-in-all, we would stay again.
Beautiful property in a quant neighborhood. The property was clean and very well maintained. The decor was classy and welcoming. Parking is a little tight, but it is off street. We stayed on the third floor. There is not an elevator, but other than when we brought our luggage in from the car, the walk wasn't bad. We were disappointed that there were no breakfast offerings and coffee was only available on the first floor. We inquired about spa services via email but did not receive a reply. The bed was perfect, and the bedding was clean and smelled fresh. The room was small, but adequate. The bathroom was tiny. Showering was a little difficult for my husband because of the way the shower was built into the room. All-in-all, we would stay again.

parking was very limited, but always seemed to be street parking available there is a Truitt on both sides of the street, so if your code doesn't work in one lobby...try the one across the street Historic neighborhood,,,walking distance to two art museums
