Don’t be fooled by the drive down to the driveway doors. Once they open, the property is beautiful. Common area for leisure and dining very tastefully decorated. Our room was very clean and spacious. Would highly recommend this place for affordable accommodation. Manuela suggested we eat at a restaurant down the street(Cancelas) what a wonderful place to eat. One portion was enough for 2. The bacalhau with the restaurant special sauce was delicious.

We had 2 rooms and they were both extremely clean and so picturesque. It was a rainy night and our room was a bit chilly but fortunately my son and his girlfriend in the other room prefer a cool room we used the extra blanket in their room and had a cozy sleep. The only less comfortable part was that there was only a single pillow per person and they were a bit small. The breakfast the next morning was amazing, with so much variety and homemade goodness.

This is a 170 year old home that has been totally renovated. It is beautiful, tastefully decorated and updated yet it still has that rustic feel. The owners are lovely and very helpful and friendly. The continental breakfast was great. It included home made yogurt (lactose free which was good for us) and home made jams. We were also served eggs and provided with unlimited coffee. This place is great value if you want a quiet safe place to stay. The layout is traditional B&B, separate rooms with private bath but a shared living room, dining room and kitchen. We were the only ones there and had the entire place to ourselves. This was good and bad - we had unlimited privacy but we also love meeting other travellers and sharing stories. It is best if you have a vehicle as it is a bit out of the way (about 8 minutes drive to old town and castle) and is really not walkable as there are countless hills. Parking is at the property and is secure in the compound. Overall, this is a wonderful place and the owners are really great. I highly recommend this place but you really need a vehicle to stay here.
