Senator Cádiz

The hotel was really nice and in the best location. The swimming pool in the roof terrace is expectacular and it was very nice and quiet to relax. There were no umbrellas by the sunbeds so it could get too sunny at times. My only problem with the property and something to be aware of is that we booked a room for 2 adults and 1 child (9 years old) and we got a room with only 2 single beds. We had to upgrade to a family room with 2 double beds but this couldn't be done the first night (so we didn't sleep much). We had to pay 20 euros per night for the upgrade. Apparently this is something in the reservation but there was nothing refering to only 2 beds in the confirmation. Apparently they allow children up to 12 years old so just double check.

Pleasant staf, room and surroundings areas ok although a little tired in places. Location was excellent Enough beds for pool but water very cold (not heated) Didn't use the spa/ jacuzzi or sauna as it was additional 20 euros each for 1 1/2 hours and not open all day

Very disappointed that the pool was a) not open and b) did not look at all like the photos on the hotel website - in fact, the area with the sun loungers was grim. The beige sun loungers need attention, as does the artificial grass and the general area. However, the spa facilities are excellent, if a little pricey, although it is 2 for 1 if you are staying at the hotel. The restaurant is more like the cafeteria - nice staff, limited offering, lacks ambience. Location is good, lots of bars and restaurants around and easily walkable. Room was basic but clean and acceptable.

The hotel leaves much room for improvement. The service is poor, the staff are not cordial, and super inflexible. I come to Cádiz every month for business, and this time I needed to change my trip by one day because the operation was delayed. The hotel refused, I paid for a night without being there, and I could not stay an extra day. Due to the hotel's policy of not shifting a simple reservation by ONE day, the hotel not only loses a customer, but also several colleagues of mine who will attend in Cadiz and will certainly receive a negative recommendation. A lack of courtesy, sensitivity, professionalism, and sense of fairness. I hope the €150 you gained at my expense was worth it. Besides that, the hotel structure is old, with only one very slow elevator, the bathroom is poorly designed and doesn't even have a glass shower door, but rather dirty and yellowed curtains. There is a pillar between the toilet and the bidet, no cabinet under the sink. A horror show. As for the gym, it’s not even worth mentioning. It has a treadmill, a broken elliptical machine, stationary bikes, and a bench: absolutely no dumbbells, not even a mat for stretching. Lastly, the garage looks like something out of a horror movie. The entrance is through a super tight car elevator, and the garage has no ventilation at all. They could easily rename the garage to a sauna. Summary: I do not recommend this place. This dump couldn't even be classified as a 3-star hotel, let alone 4.

Hotel situado junto al puerto en una calle estrecha. El único pero que le pondría es que el parking es incómodo, pues tienes que situar tu coche marcha atrás para meterlo en un ascensor. Las habitaciones son amplias y silenciosas.

Molto centrale ed estremamente gradevole, l'hotel offre una buona colazione e camere spaziose (noi avevamo una Junior suite da 50m. Rifanno le stanze 2 volte al giorno e lasciano un cioccolatino sul letto. Noi siamo stati accolti da una bottiglia di spumante e della frutta. Sul tetto c'è la piscina, piccolina ma utilissima nei giorni d'estate. La spa è a pagamento e la palestra non è munita di pesi. per il resto tutto delizioso.

Buona la posizione in centro a Cadice, comodo il parcheggio, ma solo se si ha un’auto piccola, l’accesso è davvero molto angusto, spa chiusa quindi non vista, chiusa anche la terrazza con piscina e vista, un vero peccato! Le camere sono davvero obsolete e necessitano sicuramente di essere rimodernate! Nel complesso non sicuramente un 4 stelle!

Ck in was very good; especially helping us with parking. Stay was nice with relaxing SPA. Breakfast staff very attentive and pleasant.

Spotlessly clean room, excellent buffet breakfast. Close to the main bus station in Cadiz and in the old town. Staff very helpful with excellent English spoken at reception. Roof top pool very clean with excellent views over the city.

Very run down hotel, elevators extremely dirty, TV in the room not working, receptionist was probably eating something and grabbed our pasaports with greasy hands. I needed to disinfect them! It was not worth 120 USD a night.

The only two thing that we didn’t like was that the hotel doesn’t have queen size beds in most of their rooms , and the other thing that really made us upset was that the sheets were stained and I had to tell front desk staff to replace them and to me that was the only two negative points, other than that everything else was good.

There was bugs in the room and the cleaning was lacking. Walls are extremely thin and noise from street & elevator was constant. We had trouble sleeping in the hotel. There was paint from walls on the floor and dirt on bed sheets (not sure if they change all sheets between clients). Parking was not suitable for our midsize car. Only small cars can be parked on hotel. We were thrown out from pool by a very rude spanish speaking maintenance person before official closing time (sunset). AC was extremely cold and could only be put on one setting (on or off). So either its hot or cold. Only positive thing about the stay was the receptionist, who was very positive and polite. Breakfast was decent. The hotel resembles a shabby motorway motel. Not sure if the other reviews are real.

Very clean

The hotel is in a fantastic location within Cadiz making it a great base but we would not stay here again because it was impossible to sleep. They advertise Air Conditioning as a facility but the reality is you can't use it! In winter, they pump hot air into the rooms and in summer, cold air. The temperature in the room was 36 degrees which was far too hot to sleep. We had a 7 month old baby with us for whom this was especially bad. We live in Spain so are used to the temperatures but it's clear other guests were suffering considering the number of windows open (however no breeze as it's a courtyard!) Sadly, the staff, including the manager said that's their policy and there was nothing that can be done. Seems strange considering there's a control panel in the room - they just dont allow you to use it and surely it's costing them more to pump all this heat out and have everyone open windows than allow the unit to be used! The spa is also only open Wednesday - Sunday which was a shame considering we stayed on Monday and Tuesday! Finally, we had to eat breakfast on a low coffee table in the lobby as there aren't enough tables in the restaurant to accomodate everyone. Such a shame as these issues could have easily been rectified but the staff just arent' interested.

This hotel is very old and run down. I had a king bed and the mattress felt like an hammock. I bought the junior suite but Room was like from the 70s. Very old hotel. Breakfast ok. Limited selection. Overall I would not say there again for the price.

Hotel was well located. Breakfast buffet OK (no hot plates available). Had Junior Suite. Very spacious room with functional A/C. Not so good things; Bathroom (esp shower very tired). Main Bed horrible completely uncomfortable and metal spring sound on every movement (passion factor= -minus10 Settee in lounge was like an IKEA sofa bed form the 90's that had been used to death. They need to invest

Room had sound insulation whatsoever including the outer wall. Outside revellers in the alleyway caused restless sleep all night; Breakfast is cafeteria style with self-service areas in three separate rooms, overall poor quality with hot food served completely COLD, and the worst quality coffee from self -service machines. This establishment is NOT 4 star.

I have stayed at this hotel previously but this time we were left disappointed. The property had not communicated to Expedia that rooms have window overlooking the interior. We were allocated a room overlooking the lobby which was extremely noisy - the soundproofing did not not work at all. We very quietly and politely told a receptionist that we liked the room however expected a room overlooking the exterior. The 'experienced' receptionist interrupted that there were no such rooms except for 'superior' rooms, which was not plausible as there are six floors in the hotel. The attitude was very passive-aggressive and remained so till our check out. The receptionist responded 'superior' rooms cost additional 20EUR per night. When I said that was fine, the reply was that 'we should have a think about it and when EVEN once we decide, then there is no guarantee a room is available' !! We are baffled at the defensive response given we were very calm during the discussion. We left the matter at that since the general attitude was off-putting. There pool is dated, the lobby is crowded with commercials and the hosts came across as over pressured in all departments. One kind receptionist Joao, went out of his way to print our bus tickets. Breakfast was a fine spread - minus the general service.

Be very careful about reception staff upselling your room to a superior room. If no superior rooms are available they will allocate a family room which has none if the benefits of a superior room and claim it is superior to a double room when you complain. Do not be fooled!

So sad and dissatisfied with our stay here, we stayed at the Senator in Estepona so we were expecting the same service. Instead the hotel is full of extra costs once you arrive, terrible air con, old rooms and poor service with rude & unhelpful staff, with the exception of a handful. Firstly, we booked a room for the night before we arrived as we needed to check in at 9:30am (so the room should be ready and waiting) we had to wait 45 minutes to get in. This was extremely infuriating right from the start. The room is outdated and the aircon which is an old integrated system did not cool the room down for the whole duration of our stay - my dog was panting in the night and I had to put a wet towel over her. My partner couldn’t focus on his work because it was so uncomfortable It costs €20 to use the sauna…This is completely absurd, I’ve never been to a hotel in my life that charges guests to use the spa facilities. Part of the reason I booked here is to use the sauna each day as since I’ve had my lymphoma sweating is the only way to drain my body of the excess fluid. Secondly, it is €25 per day for a dog. I understand a cleaning charge however our room was not cleaned once for the 3 days we were here which makes it incomprehensible, they also don’t even provide dog bowls. The parking is €26 a day - I can just about understand a charge but to be more expensive than the multi story down the road is extremely poor. I recommend at least being cheaper than public parking as a

The Senator Hotel was a great place to visit, clean room. Enjoy turn down service and sparkling wine. My husband and enjoyed our stay. The staff was great and made us feel welcomed. We plan to return back. Thank you!

Great location in old town Cadiz. All of Old Town is walkable and this hotel is about a 7 minute walk to the cathedral. Front desk staff speak English and are helpful. We didn’t get the included breakfast but looked like a big spread. Do note you can get tostada (toast with ham and tomato) and coffee for about 3 euro at many cafes nearby. We had two connecting rooms for our family of 5. Our only complaint was no temperature control in the rooms and they had the heat on at end of March because 60s is cold for them. Our rooms got to 85 degrees the first night and we roasted but they were able to turn off the heat altogether and it was perfect thereafter. Rooms are fairly basic but size was good.

Charming lobby and perfect location for exploring Cádiz, but a word of caution for those arriving by car--the parking garage was terribly communicated to us regarding how to arrive (and we do speak castellano, and this was during Carnival which made the need for specificity even greater!). And the parking access is not for those with claustrophobia issues--a tight turn gets you into a cramped car elevator taking you underground. Staff was friendly and we would definitely recommend the hotel.

Great facilities with amazing location.

The location of the Hotel is excellent. The rooms are spotless and well maintained. Our one criticism is that the breakfast is poorly organised. i.e the butter and jam should be next to the bread, the 'hot food' area should be signposted as it is tucked away from the main breakfast area. We had booked 3 breakfasts not realising that on the weekend it started later. Due to our early departure time on the Sunday we were not able to have a breakfast. Our request for a refund was refused and instead we were offered a picnic at 07.30 am which was certainly very poor value for the money the breakfast had cost.

Buena ubicación

Enormous room with an enormous bed. Everything very clean. The look and feel is very nineties but no wear and tear. Everything within walking distance. The public parking and the old city center.

Loved this hotel. We are a family of six with four young children. The hotel is perfectly located with a gorgeous rooftop swimming pool. Having walked everywhere in the city I would say it is positioned in the most loveliest part. The breakfast was a gorgeous buffet that suited all tastes and the serving staff were lovely. I would say it was the best hotel in central Cadiz.

its a city centre hotel so no balconies etc but the hotel was fine. Very good breakfast and staff most helpful. The location for exploring Cadiz is excellent.

Très belle hôtel, dès l'accueil nous avons aimé. Le personnel est très gentil, les chambres sont propre et nous avions un petit balcon. La chambre était grande, propre et avait un petit frigidaire. Nous avons reçu 2 petites bouteilles de vin pétillant. L'hôtel est très bien situé (près de la gare de train) pour visiter les sites touristiques et est dans un secteur tranquille et sécuritaire, près de très bon restaurants et des boutiques. Les déjeuners sont très variés et la nourriture est bonne. Vous pouvez vous faire faire des oeufs, omelettes, crêpes etc. Je vous recommande cette hôtel sans hésitation.

Hotellet var utmerket. Store rom med gode senger og god aircondition. Likte dusjen. God beliggenhet i gamlebyen. Frokosten var fantastisk med god plass

we had a suit. This was large but basic. The furniture was old and perfunctory. The headboard wasn't attached properly so clattered everytime you move in bed. The bathroom had an enormous floor space, easily enough room for a lovely showered cubical but no, there was a cheap shower over the bath with a plastic head that was broken and a wall bracket to hang it on which was also broken. Breakfast was terrible. They ran out of all crockery at one point and a group of guests were left standing for ages. You had to sort through the 'clean' crockery to find a clean plate or mug and the food was not replenished for ages. This was mainly due to a lack of staff or poor management. The advert said it had a restaurant but this was the breakfast room which was more like a shool canteen and only served a few pizzas and some pasta in the evening You can't sit next to the pool (there's no space) and the scrap of roof with sunbeds gives views of next doors washing It was probably a lovely hotel some years back but has gone severly down hill. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone
