Amazing location, and free self parking on site. As a historic hotel it definitely has a different kind of feel than your regular hotels. My only issue was that we didn't get the room that we had booked on Expedia. I requested one king bed which is clearly said on my reservation, but the hotel had it listed as two twin beds, which really wasn't ideal since we were there for our wedding anniversary. They did send a man up to push the beds together though.

Glorious old Hotel Canberra that has been remade into a Park Hyatt with hollow walls and ocean liner feel (long and narrow with rooms on the sides). An iconic political hotel that now calls its Scottish fillet by its American name, ribeye. Owned by America and reflective of contemporary Australia as a willing proxy. Great location near the Prime Minister’s “The Lodge” as well as the Chinese Embassy right across the street. The not best Park Hyatt in the world but a very good hotel. Kudos to the excellent staff. Swimming pool was hot and hot tub was small. Is that artificial grass in the courtyards?

Lovely hotel full of old-world charm. The breakfast was amazing, and the service was impeccable. It could do with some modern updates, like convenient device charging points. The pool and gym were always busy due to be open for other members, not just hotel guests.

I got a very noisy room with no view, the pillows are very uncomfortable, this time I couldn’t play tennis, I book that hotel to play tennis very disappointed, on top not enough bicycles couldn’t even rent bicycle, miss old day Hyatt Canberra

Excellent stay. Staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Amazing gym and pool, as well as other facilities. Only minor downside is the bed, which is okay but could have been more comfy.

Enjoyed our stay. One thing didn’t like was not really knowing how to get to the pool and gym facilities as there is no signs in the hotel saying which way to get there. At check in was told these facilities are outside of the building. No direction to get there

Have been coming here for a decade. Hotel is always well presented but now starting to date, 5g coverage is poor so have to use hotel wifi, rooms are clean staff are helpful and friendly facilities are ok, gym equipment is substandard, pool is ok but heavy on chlorine. Tennis court is out of action and no basketball ring or other offering for kids. Tend to eat out as food is okay but like all hotel food a bit mass produced rather than of a high quality. Place is always quiet never hear anyone else in the hotel. Like the position so easy to walk to so much stuff. Parking outdoors 3hr limit is fine as you should be out doing stuff anyway but can be a bit annoying but wouldn’t pay $30 for basement parking per day. Overall it’s a reliable hotel one we’ve enjoyed staying at fir over a decade when in Canberra

Tedious check in, terrible service for an expensive hotel. No info provided, no map of the hotel (very confusing layout, people wandering around lost everywhere) no info provided for check out time, pool hours, breakfast cost, hotel facilities. Everything has to be looked up via QR code. Interconnecting door locked and took 2 phone calls and a 30 minute wait before it was unlocked. My daughter cut her foot in the pool on the tiles, the bathroom was dirty, the lounge chairs had rips in them. Online ordering for room service has 5 items “sold out” including the eggs on toast! Will never stay here again, cute hotel but abysmal customer service.

The entrance and foyer are stunning! The room smelt musty and there were quite a few broken things - the shower, the kettle, the magnifying mirror and the phone. The staff were nice - they organised a taxi for us and brought extra towels when the shower flooded the bathroom. Overall needs. Refresh and some up keep.

This is a beautiful grand hotel in a great location. We had a buffet dinner - good but the food choices were limited. We enjoyed the breakfast and variety of options. All the wait staff were very accommodating. The king bed was comfortable but maybe a bit old as when my husband rolled, I felt every movement - maybe the matresses need changing? And the bathroom needs a more thorough cleaning - signs of mould low down and around the grout. The hotel is expensive so we felt that $30 for overnight parking was a bit excessive. We would stay at this hotel again but these issues need to be sorted.

Check-in was fine Room. Very tired, cobwebs on all the windows, television broke down. Could not be repaired. Bed was comfortable. Room was although dated very comfortable bathroom and shower were great. Amenities minimal and not to $300 plus per night standard which is double the average roommate anywhere else in Canberra?.

I stayed at this hotel for a three-day conference — my first visit — and was very impressed. It’s a beautiful 100-year-old building that’s been thoughtfully renovated. My room was comfortable, well-sized, and had everything I needed. The bathroom was modern, spacious, and spotless with a large bathtub. The only downside was that the windows couldn’t be opened, as I like some fresh air in the room. Breakfast was excellent, with a chef preparing omelettes, poached, and fried eggs to order. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay. We also had an awards dinner at the hotel as part of the conference, which was very well done. Overall, the room rates were reasonable compared to other hotels, and I would happily stay here again.

We stayed in the curtin suite for a few nights to catch up with family and friends . To be honest we were disappointed that our room had to be heated by gas column heaters and the pay tv options advertised were not available a we asked for help twice but were told the systems for heating and pay tv need upgrading . Then at 3 am we were woken by doorbell and phone call trying to deliver us a heater we Didn’t ask for . Beautiful old hotel but we wouldn’t stay again

I had been looking forward to staying in the Hyatt as it looks a special hotel from the outside. The main lobby is impressive and the finishes in the room are high-end but older in style. Unfortunately, the service at reception was rather cold and the room I had was noisy; I could hear doors slamming and people ascending a stairway in the adjacent service corridor as well as loud music from one of the function rooms until late at night. The tv also turned itself off three times and needed to be fully reset to function. I also found the power point locations inconvenient and the lack of cutlery in the room disappointing. Although I didn’t have it, the breakfast buffet did look fantastic. All in all I was bit underwhelmed and won’t be rushing back.

Very good hotel. Got a very early check in (it’s January!) which we greatly appreciated as we weren’t feeling great. Wonderful staff. Room perhaps a little dated but clean and comfy. Excellent location for parliament and galleries. Only topic was that the room seemed to creak a lot in the evening (like floor boards expanding and contracting) which was surprisingly loud. But seemed to calm down and got a good nights sleep. Would definitely stay again.

We rushed to book the stay here for the New Year. I only feel the service is not up to its title during my whole stay. No one sent our luggage to our room until we called them after a few hours. They told us they don't know which room to send. But they saw us entered the hotel and took over the luggage themselves. Restaurants are all booked out, only leaving a cafe dining for us. The dining experience is the worst. Waiting hours for the food. At last, we had to pick up the cake by ourselves.

This is a lovely historic hotel with a fabulous location. The bed is very comfortable, as are the rooms overall. Bathroom is spacious, clean and well laid out. There's a restaurant, bar and guest lounges. The service, however, lets the place down. It's polite enough, but staff are not well informed about the hotel and its offerings and struggle to cope when the place is busy. We didn't really feel welcome when we arrived, more like we were just another couple of people to deal with. Information about the EV chargers was patchy at best. The hotel is also very poorly signed if you want to find anything other than your room. Even the entrance to the car park wasn't easy to locate at the end of a tiring day driving in terrible weather. Some clear signage both inside and outside the hotel would be helpful. When I stepped out of my room, I was confronted with a maze of corridors and not a single sign to reception. Tricky when you have entered from the underground carpark, then want to find your way to the main lobby. Even one little sign would be nice.

Room not ready,two hours late which affected our evening on dinner booking and theatre booking. Lots of people having trouble at breakfast waiting for coffee and tea and other things,the breakfast set up doesn’t work and needs a rethink. The good thing I can say is the staff on front desk and manager was good at addressing our problems but they couldn’t put the clock back so our weekend was not as good as it should have been.

I was disapointed that the staff member behind the desk didnt acknowledge me standing there for at least 2 minutes upon my check out but was busy looking at a screen. It was 7:30am and no other staff member on duty. I then saw the express check out box and used it. Poor service that you would expect from a property of that stature.

By any measure this is one of Australia’s great hotels. The management rightly celebrates the building’s history as the first accommodation to be built for politicians & senior public servants in the early days of Canberra. But in addition to that (and the elegant renovation) the service was superb, and the food excellent. It’s also close to the National Gallery, the National Library etc.

Great location near the lake, bus stop and walking/bike tracks. Lovely outdoor sitting area at the Hyatt. Rooms are large enough and the room service/housekeeping very efficient. Cycle Canberra deliver bikes straight to hotel if you plan to bike around. Buffet breakfast fantastic and great staff. Only suggestion is to work on better access to cater for prams and wheelchairs. Loved this stay!

Beautiful hotel - only downside was the vegetarian food offered at the Immigration Law Conference - surprisingly awful for except for the gala dinner entree and sweets. I had to grab a waitress to get the 3 vegetarian guests their main meal and we ate after everyone else and it was inedible oversalted risotto slop. Others got half a roast pumpkin with nothing else. The lunches were awful - overcooked, slimy lentil salads - French put lentils should be used in a five star hotel. Even the roast potatoes were horrible. The vegetarian food was no better than that served in my university whole foods cafe in the 1980’d or public hospital standard dishes. The coffee was horrible too. I am sorry to be so harsh when everything else was excellent. I understand that catering for a huge event is very demanding but I have had better at your Melbourne and Sydney sister hotels at this conference in previous years.
