Howard Johnson Inn by Wyndham Kingston

It was dark and raining. No outdoor lights, pitch black, room numbers impossible to see, slippery outdoor stairs, dangerous.

Pam at the front desk was awesome with Dinner and Breakfast options. Outside of the buildings are a bit tired, but the rooms were great - the renovation was noticed! The neighbourhood was a mixed bag but the walking distance to the Campus was great.

The room was clean, adequate and functional. What I didn't like was, I opted for a ground floor room as I was travelling with a heavy case and there was no elevator. (building is low rise.) There were no net curtains so people were passing and could see right into my room which was rather invasive so I had to keep my curtains permanently closed. The staff on reception, Sonny in particular, were extremely polite ,helpful and friendly.

The staff were nice. They offered us room temperature bottles of water. Our card keys kept deactivating. Our room was not maintained well, outlet not working, hangers hanging from the ceiling vent. The pool was closed during the summer. Breakfast was fresh fruit and coffee/tea/water. We were told not to drink the water so we brushed our teeth with bottle water.

Staff very friendly. Property could use some work. And get better shower heads... Water pressure is terrible.

Property from outside is totally run down. Peered in the windows of a couple of rooms and they did not look like the photographs. Felt unsafe leaving the car parked there. Did not check in even though I prepaid. Found another Hotel.

This hotel was exactly as advertised and rooms matched the hotel's pics etc. It was clean and better than I expected. It's clearly an older hotel and older building etc, but we were in town for a concert and it met our needs for the trip. One small thing: after the concert we came back and needed some more ice but couldn't access the ice machine because the office was closed. It would have been nicer to have access to an ice machine/ vending machine after office hours.

Heating was a space heater. Parking lot was slippery, had to use 4X4 to get to the parking spot. Our friends had a nicer room. Baseboard heat, a closet and a sink in the bathroom (ours was outside of the bathroom). Maybe they are upgrading and haven’t done the building we were in?

Immeuble très vieux, pas du tout entretenu. Les douches sont propres, mais les bruits des blocs de climatisation sont tellement forts que nous avons à peine pu fermer les yeux. Le personnel est agréable et serviable.

Le personnel est très accueillant et très souriant. La chambre propre, les lits confortables sauf que la baignoire n’était pas propre et le petit déjeuner ça n’a rien à avoir avec les petits déjeuner des hôtels, les meffins étaient immangeables avec banane et yogourt. C’étaient très pauvre.

The hotel needs an upgrade. Takes 5 mins for toilet to refill. Drainage is bad. Room needs major clean, walls etc.

Very clean room and the washroom, bathtub and sink nice and clean. Even after the 2 night of my stay, room cleaning great.

Overall, a decent but not great place. Staff Bugsy n reception were helpful. Cleanliness was lacking, and bugs got in the room.

It was a great place. We just wished they washed the floors that were quite dirty. The rest was pretty good. Comfortable beds, and clean bathroom.

One of the nicest motels I have stayed in in a long time! Our room was newly renovated, nicely furnished with a bit of a retro vibe and impeccably clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We'll come back!

My experience at this Howard Johnson was not good. I had to leave a day early on a three night booking, and was promised, but never received, a refund for the last night. I had spotty wifi access the first night, which did not bother me too much. However, the next day, I could not access the internet at all. I reported the problem to the man at the desk, who came to my room and tested it on his phone, which seemed to work OK. He said the ISP had just fixed some issues and he would be calling them ISP to get the problem fixed. The next day I still had no access. Before leaving for the day, I was told that the ISP would be looking at the issue again. I also discovered that the wifi was odd and only worked within each room in the motel. My devices worked fine elsewhere, just not here. After a day of sightseeing, I returned to find that there was still no wifi in my room. I told the man at the desk that I could not stay another night without internet access and that I was leaving. I asked for a refund for the last night and was told that I would have to ask for it through Expedia since they could not otherwise process it. I agreed. Since then I have not received a refund, even after multiple requests. I feel robbed and this cast a big shadow on my little relax trip to Kingston. Very unprofessional, I obviously will never stay there again.

Rooms are nicely renovated. We checked in early but very accommodating.

We enjoyed our stay. It is in a central location. The rooms are a good size. We like parking outside our room. The bed was quite comfortable.

This was our second stay at this motel. Not a good experience this time. Problems with the lights, tv and heating in the room. Very poor night's sleep.

A good standard motel room at a good price. One nice extra feature: a second sink outside the bathroom. We only stayed one night, so we didn't need to make use of the drawers and shelves, but we noticed there was lots of storage space provided. Although the room was generally clean, there was a bit of dust in one of the front corners. It was a 30-40 minute walk downtown: acceptable for this time of year, but maybe not in winter.

A nice hotel not to far from the centre of Kingston. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful. It was nice they offered a couple of bottles of water and at checkout they have fruit for the journey. The room was clean and good for the night. The air conditioner worked well but made a lot of noise when the fan was blowing.

Staff are exceptional

Had problem checking in because Expedia took payment of wrong room staff couldn't understand what to do I should not have to tell an employee what to do very frustrating will not use Expedia for a while.

This was a last minute booking for the week. What a great spot. Close to downtown. The room was clean and exactly what we needed. The owner (I can't remember his name) was very friendly and helpful. I thought we had a problem with the fridge, but it was just a light switch in a weird spot. LOL. Pam at the front counter was a delight! Super friendly and made sure our stay was perfect! We will definitely stay here gain!

The host were very friendly and kind, the service was excellent and the room was nice and tidy. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and ammenities were very fine. Keurig coffee maker with cups available, clean fridge and microwave. The hotel is very well situated at 30 minutes wald to downtown and close to all services.

Trevlig service, rent och fint! Läget är kanske inte det bästa men för oss som bara ville stanna för att sova en natt på en längre resa så var det perfekt.

The staff werereal friendly and helpful. There was no restaurants around the area and things were not walking distance. We booked a queen size bed and was given a double bed. They advertise breakfast which included muffin, yogurt , bananas, oranges,apples coffee and tea. Even though the room was clean i would rate it a 2 star.

Good location, close to food. Parking lot was tight. Got a good night sleep.

There breakfast is nothing

Property old and beaten down, just some facelift paint job. "Breakfast included" is false advertisement, just a coffee machine and a few muffins, cereal bars and yogurt in a small fridge in the lobby. No protein or any warm food nor a place to eat. Whatever you want, you have to carry back to your room but they don't even provide a tray.

Sunny and Pam were helpful at the front desk. The two persons at the reception were informed and ensured that our stay is pleasant. For breakfast, had there been an arrangement for toasting slices of a bread with arrangements for butter, it would have been further better. The lighting in the room could be improved and availability of glass or ceramic cups would have made our stay still better.

Cleanliness is rather average. Not dirty, but not completely shiny. Especially when specifically asked for 4 people's supplies by black & white messages and was replied positively; resulted only the common 2 person supplies were provided. Grab & Go Breakfast was understandable but was the worst I have encountered by far. There were not even bakery products supplied, only muffin, fruits and drinks; would rather call that "Refreshments provided" than "Breakfast".

This is our second visit. Very comfortable and clean. Convenient to downtown. Good service. Recommended. They don't serve breakfast. There is coffee and tea and juices most of the time.

The night staff that checked us in he is great and very helpful, the room is clean and acceptable, the AC is ok and not sure about the breakfast yet until we try in in the morning. I was told that it is just a grab and go snack so i will not expect too much, but something is better than nothing.
