They claim to have parking, but this is a paid parking lot off site. It is provided at a discounted rate, and not 'just 5 minutes walk' from the hotel. It took about 10 minutes, with my bag and constantly having to stop at Red lights to cross the road.

It was a delightful stay, I'll be sure to come back here if I'm ever in Melbourne again! The only minor facility aspects I'm referencing in that 4 star component were our sink (which had too high of water pressure and splashed everywhere), the broken washer machine, and the elevator wouldn’t open the door at the 3rd floor sometimes. However, they all had workarounds, so it wasn't big deal, and I had a wonderful stay!

The building is very tired and in need of significant freshening up. One lift broken. The other at times requires you to press a button to open the doors at your floor. The carpet in the passageway is heavily worn and bunched up outside service rooms from trolleys being wheeled in and out. Timber window sills are rotted out. Grout in the shower has mould. It's a handy location for country travellers but the sound of the trains crossing the Spencer Street bridge is not well managed and incessant. The Staff were friendly and helpful. It felt like budget accommodation but priced well above budget pricing.

Hotel was clean, great location, kinda pricey for the shoebox size room. But place was clean, staff very friendly, especially cleaning staff for rooms. Bar and Restaurant in foyer called "Stubby's" was convenient very friendly staff, great chef, great food well priced, children friendly awesome! Only bad point was the size of the shower/bathroom/toilet arra and the terrible sliding door on the bathroom, that offered no privacy from family members. Also TV did not work and i couldnt even mirror my phone screen as it wasnt a smart TV. CMON GUYS!

I only stayed here 2 nights to do a tour from Melbourne. It's a very simple hotel, nothing special. Staff at the reception was very friendly! There's a 7Eleven on the corner which is much more budget friendly than Stubby's Cafe that they have on the premises.

Great location and very comfortable. The room is pretty small but the bed was comfy and the shower was clean so it was fine for a solo traveler, especially if you're out and about all day. I could occasionally hear a train going by at night but not too noisy and the convenience of being so close to both Southern Cross and Flinders station was totally worth it. The staff were very helpful as well. My 3rd night the battery in the smoke alarm in my was running low and beeping and they fixed it straight away. The cafe also had good coffee and was an easy caffeine fix before heading out for the day. Will definitely be staying again!

The room doesn’t get cleaned. A lot dust one the self and table. Doesn’t vacuum the floor. The faucet blast the water in the very small bathroom and your clothes. The shower wall and floor is slippy. Feels like no cleaning at all.

The place was filthy and smelt of dirty socks. Turned out there was a dirty pair in the cupboard. There was a greeting card for the last customer still on the bedside table so the place wasn't cleaned properly at all. There was shampoo but no conditioner to was my hair. On top of all this the manager kept my $100 bond saying that he smelt smoke even though I am a non smoker and his assistant couldn't smell smoke. Then brought out a fresh cigarette butt unlit as evidence. After all the last customers stuff were all over the hotel due to poor cleaning. I Won't be choosing them again... Appalled is an understatement. The manager obviously gets commission for scamming peoples bond

The service was great & polite. The cleanliness was on the other hand not so great. The walls opposite the bed had stains from ceiling to floor, empty bottle of Coke Zero left by previous occupants, a strong smell of mould & urine in the room. I killed 3 mosquitoes & 2 flies in the room on the first night. There is no storage what so ever, so you are literally living out of your suitcase. Very small room so if you are staying for a night or two & you just need somewhere to sleep it’s ok, other than that I wouldn’t recommend it.

With the price I am paying, which is one of the cheapest during the period of time, the location is so great that you can get to cafes and restaurants within 5 mins. Staff is wonderful! Very friendly and helpful. Room is perfectly clean and comfortable, I would strongly recommend it

Tea cups not cleaned or replaced, rubbish bins not cleared daily, milk and tea bags not replenished, train noise outside all night (better sound insulation required) Noise from other guests outside the room door late at night, tiny bathrooms, hot/cold showers were almost impossible to control.

It is clean but the bathroom is very small. Hand wash sink is tiny size in the corner. The shower room is very small and door size two feet wide. It’s very hard to use the bathroom so I canceled the rest two days book and moved to nearby hotel.

Room was so small you stood in bathroom facing vanity, turned and you were on toilet and turned and at bathroom door. Husband is 6 foot 4 and skinny and could barely fit in shower doo side ways or height, I am overweight and had to squeeze into shower hitting my belly. Staff were pleasant but highly priced for actual accomodation

The location of The Best Western was spot on for walking and transport. The room was a decent size however the bathroom left alot to be desired. You could bearly move, there was no room between the toilet the hand basin and the shower door was so tiny a large person would have trouble getting in and move around, the hand basin was so tiny, when you washed your face or brushed your teeth the water went all over the floor. Very dissapointing.

The room is comfortable enough, cleanliness good. I very much missed a proper desk, there was just a little kind of bench next to the cupboard with a soft stool rather than proper chair, and this is not ideal if needing to do some work. Also the room feels small, and especially the shower cubicle is a squeeze to get into. Location wise it is good if it is important to be near the main country rail station but it is otherwise not the most dynamic area for shops, restaurants, museums etc (though all this is not too far away)

Our first 2 days here were not great. We had a ‘shoe box’ room on the ground floor, which was noisy and seemed to have no noise cancellation whatsoever in the rooms. This was made extra worse when the neighbour decided to scream and yell from midnight till early hours of the morning. Staff I spoke to at 3am that night were not helpful. We asked for a room change later that morning, which the staff organised while we were away at the cricket. Unfortunately when we got back to our new room, the aircon didn’t work but we were moved to another room and given a free upgrade to a queen room, which was a lot bigger, had windows and was quiet. If I were to book again, I would definitely book the queen or king rooms and not be on ground level. Only downside to the rooms was that the bathroom was absolutely tiny in each room we stayed in. The door to the shower was less wider than the width of the bath mat (length of 2.5 iPhones; yes I measured). If you’re a size 14 or larger, or 20 weeks pregnant like me, it was a STRUGGLE to get in and out. Staff were friendly, and the place had been renovated. 1 of the 2 lifts were being upgraded. but other than our not so great first 2 days, the area was an easy walking distance to Southern Cross station and lots of food options and convenience stores close by.

I've stayed at this hotel for a few trips now and it's my first go to when I'm travelling to Melbourne. Staff are friendly and very helpful. When there was a city wide blackout and my phone was on 10% battery they offered to charge it on a personal charge bank for me which helped a lot.

We booked one night in the cheapest available room for proximity of transport connections to airport. Basic but functional hotel, wouldn't want to spend more than a night or two (unless in fancier room) but did the job for us. Staff were excellent and allowed us to check in early when we tried to drop off baggage.

Able to check in early and gave me a free room upgrade as well. Fabulous and friendly staff, lovely room, excellent water pressure in shower, convenient access to Southern Cross Station. Everything was clean. I highly recommend this property to anyone needing a hotel in this area of Melbourne.

Great location and very convenient to the train station, Marvel Stadium and the Casino. The staff were very nice and friendly. I booked a small room (happy to pay a cheaper price) as it was only me and I was only staying for one night. I had all that I needed and I felt safe knowing that the external doors were locked at 10pm at night with staff still on duty. Will certainly book there again.

The staff were lovely, we had arrived early to leave our luggage until room was ready. When we were able to access our room later, it was on the 3rd floor which was fine as there is an elevator. The room was fairly large but the bathroom was very small. The shower was one of the smallest I’ve seen plus a tiny basin which was very difficult to use without splashing water around it. The shower was good and hot - just not much room. The hotel is very close to the railway line and we didn’t realise how noisy it was until in the room. It was very difficult to sleep until very early in the morning when the trains became less frequent. Location otherwise was great as the trams run from nearby Spencer Street and it wasn’t far to walk to nearby attractions, restaurants and cafes. We would probably stay again n the future but I will be taking good earplugs and ensuring we stay in a room on the other side of the hotel

Not well insulated between rooms. Wouldn’t recommend one of the courtyard rooms unless you are a smoker. Room smelled like smoke and neighbours spent the evening smoking weed which wafted through. Pretty dodgy area. Cafe couldn’t cope with more than a couple of orders at a time.
