At Mercure Welcome Melbourne, travellers highlight the unbeatable central CBD location for shopping, dining and trams, alongside friendly staff and fair value, but note small, basic rooms, thin walls, and maintenance or cleanliness lapses, plus inconsistent housekeeping.

We have stayed at the Mercure Welcome many time but this time it was so noisy . The street noise was constant, people in the hallways and adjoining rooms.

Stayed 1 night

This is possibly the worst hotel stay I have ever had. Firstly checked in, no wifi password on check in and not in the room. Attempted to call reception - phone disconnected, called off my phone took me being passed around 3 times and hung up on before I finally got it. Ended up having to change rooms due to being surrounded by rooms of screaming children. 1 lift broken meaning a long wait for the lift. Mattress old and plasticky. Could hear everyone's toilet flush and the plumbing screams all night. Shower is either freezing or boiling and will randomly cycle between the two to keep you guessing. And to top it up I woke up and the carpet along my bed was wet where it meets the bathroom and stank of urine! Not to mention the fridge pooled water unexpectedly and ruined my food. I cannot find a good thing to say! Complained at check out and nothing was offered. I wish I had just left and found another hotel. Do not stay here.

Excellent location, very close to all public transport, lots of dining options within an easy walk. Buffet Breakfasts were great value at $18 each, eveything you could ask for and more. Staff were very helpful and easy to communicate with. We walked straight past when looking for it, as the entrance is not big & doesn't stand out, but the location is very convenient.
