Do not book here if you need parking. I made sure to ring the hotel before booking to secure parking for 40/ night. Upon our arrival the car park that is affiliated with the hotel was full, one of the attendants led us on a wild goose chase to a Wilson’s parking lot which was was going to cost us 120 a night. We came back to hotel and they didn’t seem very intent on helping us. This wild goose chase took an hour. We came back to hotel and asked for alternatives but to no avail, I was looking to cancel my room and book somewhere else with parking. Until a park finally became available in the original car park.

Lovely Hotel. Was our first time staying and won't be the last. Surprisingly quiet considering the location. We arrived on a Friday night and the live music playing in the Alexander bar was such a pleasant welcome. Staff were friendly and very efficient, I hadn't ordered a cot prior to arriving as I didnt think we would have my 1 year old with us. But when I asked for one on checking in it arrived about 2 min after we got to our room and was set up for us straight away. Being directly across from Southern Cross station, and for our needs across from the skybus was very suitable, as my sister needed to be on the bus at 4am to get to the airport. She didn't have to walk far and it felt safe for her at that time of day. All in all I would highly recommend.

Clean and accessible to Melbourne city Center - staff wasn’t that friendly. Hotel website mentions about spa, but we found out there is only gym onsite and third party spa business which doesn’t let you to use the spa unless you purchase 250 dollar massage.

Hotel was lovely, let down as amenities listed spa to only find out that it was only if booked full service massage or other and so not available to hotel patrons. This was misleading and probably not to be listed as amenities but more passionate facilities at a cost. No pool so expected to have a spa at end of day and not available. Room was super comfortable and staff were accommodating

Perfect location. Close to Southern Cross station for bus & train services. Easy walking distance to CBD and tourist attractions. Hotel was perfect fir us. Room spacious, bed comfortable, coffee machine a bonus, great inroom cleaning, quick lift and friendly welcoming front counter staff.

Disappointing stay at a property that I have stayed at many times previously and always enjoyed. Advised on check-in that there'll be no daily housekeeping (despite this being advertised as a feature of the room) and to call Reception if I require additional towels. Explanation given is that the hotel is in dispute with the cleaning company (?). Positive at check-in however was the staff member who was welcoming and pleasant. Overall condition of the property has dropped since my last stay - in the room I was allocated the bathroom mirror light was not not working, the USB charging port next to the bed was not working, the security peephole in the room door was broken, the floor indicator for the lift was not working (for one lift on level 8), room service was unavailable via the in-room QR code on the Friday night I attempted to use it, the in-room fridge was dirty. Also - Expedia VIP benefit of self-parking not offered at check-in, no interaction or farewell at check-out. Disappointed and will likely not stay here again - which is unfortunate as I have always enjoyed staying here.

Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean. Although the drain in the sink did not drain well (had to wait for it) and the toilet needed a few flushes, every time. But otherwise the room was perfect and there was plenty of room. The live music in the reception area on Friday night was amazing to hear.

The hotel is beautiful and the staff all friendly and accommodating. The area around is quite busy but in a perfect location. A few things to note, the quality of the room clean wasn’t the best and I don’t believe we got the best deal on parking and could have got this cheaper paying directly, lesson learnt on my part. Overall I think this is a lovely hotel and would stay again!

Stayed in a king room for our anniversary. They marked the occasion with sparkling in our room when we arrived which was a lovely touch. The room was spacious and bed comfy. The biggest issue was the shower head. It drooped and was unable to be tightened to the right height. In hindsight, we probably should’ve switched rooms. Location very convenient next to train station, food and tram stops.

The windows facing directly onto Spencer Street, with its traffic, trams, and trains directly adjacent are only single glazed so good luck getting good rest with that background noise. Further the aircon is akin to the noise on an aircraft. The room design and decor is that of a low end, older budget hotel, not one that claims to be 4.5 star.

The room we were given had a door adjoining another room (the master suite). Noise travelled straight through the door, including the radio that the next room kept on ALL night. When we talked to staff about this (specifically mentioning 3 times that it wasn't that the neighbour was loud but that the room was not sound proof), the staff member told the neighbour they were too loud and then we heard him swearing his mouth off after she left -- and of course we heard everything. Room was comfortable but was stuffy due to no windows that opened.

Two night stay in two king rooms with interconnecting doors. Lovely old world lobby with very helpful & welcoming staff at check in. Rooms are a generous size, sound proof & clean. Across the road from Southern Cross train station, easy tram ride to Bourke st mall. Return guests & will stay again.

The property's history was very cool and beautiful. The bed was comfy. However, the service was mediocre at best. Our room was not stocked well or replaced when cleaned. We had to keep asking for things. The shower is the smallest I've ever seen with a half wall no door - water went everywhere. We stayed in other hotel chains along the way in our 2 week Aussie adventure and all out did this hotel including Holiday Inn Exp Adelaide. The breakfast is the same every single day and blah with the staff a bit stuffy to you. Most hotels we visited were cheery but not this one.

After a wonderful visit last month, I decided that the Savoy would be my forever hotel in Melbourne. Nice vibe, excellent accommodation, great for trams, trains, and the airport. Unfortunately this week's return stay ended with a sour taste, and I'm not sure I will ever go back. Why? After an excellent day out on Wednesday, I decided to have a quick drink in the hotel bar before bed. But there were no staff serving on the bar. So I waited, for quite a while. Still no staff. Eventually, I ducked round behind the bar, to see if I could get someone's attention. Nobody there. Heading for reception to ask whether the bar was already shut, I was reprimanded by one of the reception staff for going behind the bar. No apology for the lack of service, just a reprimand. At that same moment, both bar staff reappeared from wherever they had been. Lesson? If you don't want guests going behind the bar to seek service, put up a sign that directs them to seek help at reception when the bar staff are otherwise engaged.

The reception on arrival was rather cold and non welcoming. She needs to work on her people skills and learn how to smile. Down for breakfast on Christmas morning, NOTHING, repeat NOTHING to indicate it was Christmas, a little effort would not have gone astray!!!

Check in was terrible, I was treated at reception by someone with absolutely no customer service skills at all. I arrived at 1:20pm and was told my room was ready but I would have to pay $30 if I wanted to check in early. I mentioned that I was a VIP gold member with Expedia however no benefits were given even though this property was listed as a vip deal. The room was nice and clean and in a great location to marvel stadium etc Breakfast was pretty average for a hotel of this star rating I had also emailed the hotel previously twice prior to my stay to organise something for my girlfriend for this stay and did not receive any correspondence back. Overall experience at this hotel was tainted from the service I received upon entering the hotel to check in and just couldn’t get me back to being positive about my stay, I’ve stayed at many other hotels around the area of the savoy and would suggest that you look at those before booking this hotel.

An excellent, beautifully maintained character hotel but with modern decor and well decorated and appointed rooms. Close to everything if you wish to walk, but also within the Free Tram Zone of Melbourne's CBD, so getting around the city was a breeze. Well worth the stay.

Overall a good stay. Reception staff, brilliant. Gerard must be an absolute standout of standouts; he absolutely makes the whole place unforgettable, by turning the very unassuming bar and small dinner area, into a wonderful fun filled delight, as he walks you through both the history and cocktail menu. The food for dinner was of a very high standard as well. Surprisingly good given the size of the place, and easily comparable, well I'd say better, than some with far more notoriety and price tag up at the Crown for example Unfortunately the breakfast was consistently very poor, Im convinced thats a different chef. Additionally we had to put in a lot of effort to get room service just once on our three night stay. Otherwise I'd have high fived the lot. Oh, and we had the corner view station room, fantastic. Worth a visit for dinner even if you're not staying.

The art deco and the front desk staff were really lovely I had an early flight but buffet was not ready for hot food by 7am and when it was served the bacon tray was cold. Ease of access to rooms and fast elevators was great.
