This hotel was amazing! The staff was incredibly helpful, patient and so welcoming. Josip at the front desk was exceptional and helped us immensely! Cleanliness of the hotel was 10/10 and our room was perfect with heated floors, automatic window shades, giant bed and very quiet. Dining at the restaurant inside the hotel is a MUST!! We had delicious food paired with delicious wine, a wonderful memory. Room service in the morning as well as breakfast inside the dining room was great quality! We will be back!

The staff are outstanding - really friendly and helpful. Thank you. The rooms are well appointed - worth paying for the slightly larger double room. The restaurant - is excellent - but beware, the kitchen it closes early and it’s not open Sunday or Monday. Otherwise, highly recommend.

Beautiful hotel with great staff. Our room was beautiful and clean. The only complaint we had was that the nearby construction and road closures made it very difficult to get in and out of. Cabs and drivers found it hard to find the place and unfortunately the constant rain made it difficult to stand outside and wait. The subway (U) is right outside the door and staff was very helpful with directions. Restaurants and grocery nearby and a one stop subway ride if you’re planning an Oktoberfest trip

We had a wonderful stay at Excelsior by Geisel. While our room had a bit of a funny smell when we first arrived, everything else about our experience more than made up for it. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and we slept really well. The service throughout our stay was excellent—friendly, attentive, and professional. Breakfast, though not included in our stay, was absolutely delicious and worth trying. The only other downside was the parking situation—the closest option is about two blocks away, which was a bit of an inconvenience, especially with luggage. Still, overall, we really enjoyed our time here and would happily stay again.

Excelsior is a good hotel. The staff and services are very good. The location is great, but the hotel didn't let us know that the restaurant and bar were not open during our stay. I know that during the end-of-year holidays, many places are closed. However, the hotel should've informed us about that in advance. Nevertheless, all in all, it was a good experience.

This well-kept hotel is very clean and in a super-convenient location very close (less than a half-block walk) to the Munich Hbf train station, the public transportation system and the Old City (easily walkable to everything from the hotel). Staff were polite, friendly and super helpful. The room was spacious and well-appointed. Would highly recommend to anyone on a tourism visit to Munich.

The staff at this hotel are exceptionally helpful and attentive. We used the laundry service and it was quick and thorough. The breakfasts here were excellent as well. We had an adjoining room with our college aged sons and everything was clean and well appointed. Close to many transit options and walkable as well. We would definitely stay here again!

I stayed for 3 nights. I found the lobby and the breakfast staff were surprisingly very friendly, helpful and professional. The bedroom was old, but the bathroom was nice. Definitely I would consider to come back just because how amazing the lobby and breakfast staff were. I only gave three stars because (1) the internet connection in my room is unbelievable weak, almost non-existence, and (2) once the cleaning staff did not refill my toiletries to the point of no soap left. The absence of such common, low cost, services just ruin all other amazing efforts that the other staff have made.

Das Hotel liegt sehr zental beim Bahnhof und nur wenige Gehminuten vom Stachus entfernt. Leider haben wir diesesmal ein nicht renoviertes Zimmer zur Strassenbahn hin erhalten. Aufgrund der schlechten Dichtheit der Fenster war es seh sehr laut und auch kalt. Zudem lies auch der Service sehr zu wünschen übrig. So wurde zum Beispiel bei unseren Kollegen vergessen das Zimner zu reinigen. Auch beim Frühstück waren die Wartezeiten sehr lange (20 Minuten für ein Spiegelei, dann erst noch kalt). Schade.

This is a beautiful hotel and the staff is gracious and helpful. The rooms are spacious and well-appointed, the bed is plush with lovely linens and the breakfast is elegant with great variety. There is even a fabulous restaurant on site, the Vinothek. This hotel is also conveniently situated near the train station and within walking distance of many sights. My only complaint—and it is a big one for a Munich summer—is that not all of the rooms have air conditioning. My room was boiling and opening the windows above the tram rails sounded like a roller coaster. The gracious staff brought me a fan but sleeping was difficult. A hotel this elegant should invest in air conditioning, since Europe, like the rest of the world sadly, is getting hotter.

It is a very good central hotel near the main station in Munich. Excellent services and well equipped rooms make your experience there unforgettable. However, be prepared for noisy nights as some rooms overlook a busy street with rattling trams. Ear plugs may be gelpful

The hotel was old and very “Bavarian” which I loved. The staff was friendly and efficient. The location was great, a short walk to the Marienplatz. We had a room with air conditioning, but it did not work well or at all. There was no dresser in the room and we had to live out of our suitcase and the shower water was tepid at best.

Excellent location to the Central train station & the Old Town. Well furnished with L’Occitane toiletries. Comfortable bed but extremely noisy with the street traffic most of the night. There’s no air conditioning or fans so in this current hot weather, it got quite uncomfortable although opening the windows helped a bit but let in more noise. The staff were very friendly & helpful.

Very convenient to the main train station and an easy walk to Marienplatz, but the windows are not great for sound insulation from the trolley line. Hotel is clean and very nice, and the bed was very comfortable. The heater was adjustable (and worked). The adjustable shower head was difficult to fix where needed and often sprays water on the floor, but this seems common for European hotels.

We are on a quiet street but just adjacent to the train station, metro, and S-bahn. So handy to get Anywhere, there are some shops down in the underground acess to all the transportation, we can't hear any noise even being this close and since we are not on a full out street, its very peaceful. Our driver was able to let us out just steps from the door and the staff was Incredible. We were able to check in 2 hours early, we had expected to just store our luggage so this was so appreciated. We are here 3 nights and then doing an overnight to Salzburg before returning for another night before catching our flight home and they will let us leave the bulk of our luggage here so that we only have to take our overnight case on the train with us- that is kindness above and beyond. We are just a few minutes walk to the Karlsplatz which has the lovely pedestrian walkway to the Cathedral and Marienplatz. The rooms are truly spacious and elegant. Perfect choice for our stay in Munich.

I will not stay at this hotel ever again. Staff is simply rude. This is not acceptable for a "5 star" hotel. I fell ill during the trip and called for a room service - I just wanted hot tea. The front desk told me they will not deliver and I had to go outside. I checked out of the hotel 2 days prior and my check out was at 12noon. Starting at 7.45am, housekeeping barged in asking me when i will vacate the room so they can clean. I asked them to leave. They returned again, entered the room while i was in a shower at 9.30am and finally at 10.30am I had to put 'do not disturb' sign. Totally unacceptable behavior. Will not stay there again.

Excelsior is in a perfect location within Munich. We went for Oktoberfest, and the hotel is a 17-minute walk from the grounds and right next to several train stops that will also drop you off around the city. We ended up walking everywhere and could get where we wanted to go within 20 minutes. The hotel staff is very friendly. The wine room they have just off the lobby is darling, with great drink and food options. There is also a laundromat just around the corner from the hotel, so you can pack light and have clean clothes for the rest of your trip!

Lovely hotel in convenient location. We where greeted welcome by very sweet staff, the room was very nice and clean, comfy bed. Windows facing a quiet pedestrian street, very close to Hauptbahnhof. The breakfast was really good, omelettes and eggs made to order. Good coffee and nice selection of tea. The hotel is a short walks away from Altstadt and all the sights. I think we used 10 minutes to Marienplatz. Would definitely stay again in this hotel.

Very comfortable hotel in convenient location close to main Munich railway station and only about 10 minutes walk to the Old Town. Very friendly and helpful staff - everyone we engaged with during our stay spoke excellent English. Vinothek restaurant/wine bar linked to the hotel (connecting door from hotel lobby) serves great food and wine. One thing to note is that currently (May 2025) there is major construction work happening at the railway station and across the street from the hotel, but despite this the hotel is really quiet inside. Highly recommended.

Das Hotel hat sehr nachgelassen, was Service und Komfort anbelangt. Ein 4* Hotel, welches Sonntag und Montag kein Restaurant und Bar offen hat, geht nicht. Das Bad ist zwar romantisch mit den goldenen Armaturen, es benötigt jedoch dringend einer Renovation.
