Hotel Reykjavík Grand

Great hotel on the outskirts of the downtown area. Everything needed was right on site.

Good location, free parking, very nice staff. Bar and restaurant was very convenient and food was delicious! We had a good stay!

The food is absolutely delicious. I didn't plan on eating at the hotel but I am so glad I did. The shower knob was broken but the water got warm enough that I could shower without freezing. The gym is small but nice, more for cardio.

I didn't enjoy my stay at this hotel. I chose it because it was a spa hotel. I expected it to be quiet and luxurious. It was neither. The spa was not entirely open because both hot baths were broken. I went down twice, and both times, I was disturbed by drilling.And hotel guests are charged to use the spa. Why? And why charge when you can't offer a full spa experience? I could also hear drilling in my room, and when I complained to reception, they just said they were working on pipes. No apology, no concern. This is appalling. My room was not serviced once whilst I stayed. Fortunately, I can make my own bed, but having fresh towels at least once during a four-day stay would have been nice. The hotel is a long distance from the town, and it is a conference hotel. It isn't suitable for travellers wanting to see Reykjavik. When I checked out they couldn't give me a bill. Honestly, the whole experience was a shambles. Overall, I wasn't impressed and would not stay in this hotel again.

A great hotel, amazing breakfast and decent bar food. Love the local beer. Staff are friendly and helpful. Just missed the spa which we used in previous years and is now closed.

Amazing breakfast buffet! The gym was nice too. Overall, I had a great stay here. The only thing to note about this hotel is that it is about a 20 - 25-minute walk to the city center.... which was fine for me, but may be inconvenient if you want to be in the thick of things.

Really nice room, and plenty of parking

Gregory at the front desk was excellent. He was able to contact our snowmobile tour that was cancelled by the vendor and was able to get us on another tour! Also free plentiful parking.

Hotel Reykjavik Grand was a great value for the price. Upon arriving I was surprised that it was such a fancy hotel given that the price was considerably under the other possibilities. The staff was helpful and friendly. But the best thing for us was the restaurant and bar, Grande Brasserie, whose menu was created by an award winning chef Icelandic chef. It is on the perimeter of the main tourist zone, but even with my limited mobility, we managed to walk and see some of the main attractions of Reykjavik. The spa was being renovated, but the Hilton spa is just a few minutes walk away.

The hotel room when we arrived was not cleaned and had wrappers under the bed. I was staying with my family so had a pull out bed, and there was a lot of dirt under there, it was like it hasn’t been cleaned by anyone. The hotel is around 45 minutes from the airport, but it’s quite hard to walk around the hotel if you visit during the winter months.

The hotel room and bathroom is big enough for 3 of us but the daily cleaning is not ideal. I still can see some hair and dust still on the floor. Moreover, the housekeeper won’t refill the amenities automatically even she notice that it is no more.

A nice hotel, lots of tourists, tour buses all stop here/arrange pickup here, they don’t automatically clean the rooms unless asked, there is heating in the room, no chain lock

Staff was helpful and the hotel was clean. The beds are horrible, much too soft I did not sleep well any night. The rooms are hot and need better ventilation or offer fans for the rooms.

Modern hotel with friendly, efficient staff. Large room, bathroom had separate bath and shower. Buffet breakfast had an excellent selection to choose from. It is a little further from the centre of town though and sadly, at the moment, right next to a construction site (not a lot the hotel can do about that, though)

Wir hatten ein schönes sauberes Zimmer mit super Aussicht auf die Stadt. Freundliches Personal sowohl an der Rezeption als auch im Speisesaal. Wir sind sehr zufrieden.

The hotel was just okay. Our bathroom smelled like mildew, we arrived to find a light out in the bathroom (fixed the next day), and the person checking us in was not friendly. I think because we booked with Hotels.com instead of directly with the hotel we were given the worst room. If your room is on the first floor plan on carrying your luggage up about 6 or so stairs. Since they do not have air conditioning, the room was hot and stuffy. We will not be staying there again.

The drapes were a couple inches too short to cover the whole window so I woke up at sunrise every day. The shower was a weird design and water got all over the toilet area. Other than those two things, we had a very nice stay. The breakfast was very good. The desk clerks were very nice. The room was clean.

Property is clean and located close to the main shopping area of the city. I enjoyed being slightly removed from the hustle and bustle but if you wanted to be in the center of the action, this is a bit removed. Unfortunately, wifi in the hotel was a bit dodgy which was a little frustrating.

The staff was very nice but the restaurant was incredibly expensive and there was a marked difference in the updated design/ “luxury level” of our room and another room in our party - even though we were only three doors away on the same floor. Also it’s very close to a major highway and the room was pretty noisy.

The hotel is great. Staff is brilliant. My only complaint is that the lower floor rooms that face lobby get lots of noise during the day. Our flight to Iceland was long. We arrived around 3pm and wanted to sleep for sometime but there was piano going on in lobby because of that we couldn’t sleep.

This hotel has a huge addition on it, including the beautiful atrium seen in the photos. Unfortunately our room was in the old part of the hotel. Everything about it was old. I was disappointed

While the hotel itself is fairly good in many ways there were some truly terrible downsides. (1) We arrived early on an international flight and had previously informed the hotel that a check-in prior to 3 pm would be very welcome if possible. They had previously said they would annotate our account and do what they could, though there would be a (reasonable) charge if it was possible. But when we got there the treatment was very rude ("we told you it is 3 pm" and "if you wanted to check in this early you should have booked the previous night" which is very different from a reasonable additional charge quoted earlier, plus too late now). When we came back a few hours later to check on the status it was even ruder and we told not to bother to check back till it was 3 pm. (2) We hung out in the lobby but were never offered any amenities, and only discovered the next day that there is a bar and restaurant elsewhere in the hotel that we could have gone to. (3) When finally in the room--totally exhausted after 36 hours without sleep--we find that outside our window, barely meters away, was a full scale construction project actively, very noisily working, well past any reasonable hour, actually not ending until almost 9 pm and starting up again at 7:30 am. You can imagine how well one can sleep with that going on. Plus one needs to have the window open to get any air circulation or coolness into the room, so the noise is even worse! Rooms facing construction should not be let!

I explained during checking in, the reservation was supposed to be for 3 people per room (2 adults and 1 child). I had 2 rooms. Front desk rep said no problem, gave me a room with two single beds and a sofa bed. This was for both rooms. When we called down to reception for extra pillows, linnen and such, she said she was the only one and we would have to come down and get it ourselves. My wife went down to reception and also explained that she was unable to open the sofa bed. The reception was extremely rude and said housekeeping has left and there is nothing they can do as the sofa beds are locked and only housekeeping has the key to open them. The receptionist then goes only to say, that our original reservation was for 2 people so she has no obligation to help. My wife explained that we cleared this up at check in, which is why we had rooms on two seperate floors, to accomadate for the larger room. But she didnt care to listen and flatly said, there is nothing I can do. Also, my wife noticed there was another person also working at receoption so, she lied when she told us she was the only person working in the hotel. I would never stay in this hotel ever again.

Room ok but lousy air flow. Reception staff arrogant and disrespectful. No smiles and dull. The two ladies need to be trained and/or let go. All other staff were good. Buffet breakfast was good. Shame the whole experience was let down due to unhelpful and sour attitudes of check in/out staff (the two ladies)

Very rude and condescending attendance who did not want to help and kept putting us off we asked for early check in there was no activity in the front desk area but she kept saying check back later when we asked another attendant that we wanted to talk to a manager then we got our room right away

The receptionist at the front was amazing! She was able to get me a room a little earlier than my arrival time. She was a life save as I was exhausted from travel and desperately need to shower and rest

Customer service was superb especially the front desk and restaurant staff. I would highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel is in a great location - easy access from the highway and parking was included. Walkable to downtown sights (within 30 minutes walk). Beautiful lobby and hotel room was spacious with comfortable beds.

The hotel was a short walk to the seaside and was nice to take a stroll there to try to get away from the city lights. We could walk to the city centre using the Laugavegur street but a taking a bus was faster. The hotel was accessible as it was a pick-up or drop-off location for many tours, which was great.

Great place to be to get downtown Some places are walkable but the property has parking available which makes it easy to bring a car and get to other sites. Staff helped with a booking error (on my part) and gave good advice about sites to see.

Far from Shopping but Bus Service was adequate.

Just outside the city centre this is a lovely quiet hotel to rest. It’s a bit far from the city centre to walk - about 30-40 minutes but otherwise very convenient

Not right down town so quiet at night.

Great hotel for our first night - a bit off of the main tourist area but worked well for us. the restaurant was amazing and delicious for both dinner and breakfast.

Everything was clean, the bed was comfy and the staff were kind and helpful. The breakfast buffet was delicious and the dinners were top notch.

First Class Property. Great front desk and nice bar area. Very limited menu in dining room and few places nearby to eat

The staff was very nice and extremely helpful. The hotel is in a very inconvenient location which means added expense for taxis to anything. The buffet breakfast was just ok and VERY expensive for what was offered. It was extremely noisy with constant road traffic on our side of the building. We changed rooms to the other side of the building which had constant major construction noise with heavy machinery and cranes. I would not stay here again.

Great start to our week in Iceland. The Breakfast buffet was memorable, and everything in our room was sparkingly clean

Hotel was very nice inside, room was spacious, though view was the roof... But the roads around the place were one way and some blocked off- made it very hard to get into the parking lot. The biggest challenge is you couldn't walk anywhere from there and so you were a bit trapped for meals and the restaurant was delicious but VERY EXPENSIVE FOR MULTIPLE MEALS.

This hotel was amazing! Great location, it was just a short walk or drive to the city, restaurants, and shopping. The breakfast buffet was excellent. Dinner at the hotel was AMAZING!!! The staff was absolutely wonderful. Thank you to Samuel our waiter from Kenya who was soooo very nice, and accommodating. He let us know of some cool local things to try while there. He recognized us from the previous day and already had our wine order ready to go without asking...he just knew!!! I would definitely stay here again for sure! Oh and the beds were SUPER comfortable...I felt like I was sleeping in a cloud.

Only negative is we were told that we had breakfast included with Expedia and then had to pay for it as the hotel says it’s not included. Pillows were super comfy and staff was amazing to say the least!
