The hotel is dated and needs upgrading. The elevators are slow and one is out of service. The rooms lack any sort of storage (e.g. - dresser, drawers, etc.) and have limited charging options - there was an Ethernet cord, justifying again the datedness of the hotel. The ceilings and floors/carpet are stained and the beds are a bit tired. Not what we expected…..However, the complimentary wine on M-W afternoons and $3 coffees were nice.

Hotel was reasonably priced and included breakfast buffet. Breakfast buffet had the usual expected hot and meal options. Fresh fruit juice machine was good. Hotel was in a great location. Close to Chinatown, Darling Quarter, Darling Harbour and easy to hop on train to Pitt Street and Circular Quay. Pool was not huge but kids enjoyed it. Rooms were a little dated but were reasonably spacious and it was nice to have a little garden patio area. Lifts got very busy in the mornings and often had to wait a long time. There is a car parking building next door and discounted rates through the hotel. However the parking card the hotel gives you often didn't work and we encountered other hotel guests who had the same problem.

Sydney Central Hotel turned out to be a surprisingly lovely stay. I have to admit, after reading some reviews I was a little nervous, but we were fortunate enough to receive an upgrade to a larger room, which was a great start. The room was clean, and parts—especially the bathroom—looked recently renovated. It would’ve been nice to have wine glasses in the room, and as it was our anniversary (which the hotel was aware of), a small acknowledgment would have been appreciated, though it seems that may have slipped their mind. The main downside was that our room was located right outside the pool area, which did get noisy at times. We had a balcony, but we couldn’t really use it as people at the pool could look straight in. Aside from that, everything else was generally positive. We did use the pool once, it’s lovely and warm but it can get crowded due to its small size. Overall, a pleasant stay with just a few minor drawbacks. We will definitely return again.

Perfekt läge 3 min gångväg från Centralen. Tåg till/ från flyget tog 15 minuter. Nära chinatown och alla dess delar med mat och marknad. 3 min gångväg till marinan och alla ”vanliga” restauranger. Slitet hotel, bra gym men inte uppvärmd pool dock.

On this occasion food from a previous guest was left in the fridge and there were no bags in the bins in the room. This was mentioned at checkout in which the desk staff apologised. Cleaning staff did appear to be hanging out talking in corridors rather than working on more occasion. I've stayed here many times in the past however this time was a bit average especially considering how expensive room prices are now.

Negatives: we stayed on the 9th floor. The room is a little dated but the musty smell was at times overpowering. I noticed the air conditioning vent was covered in black mold so probably where the smell was coming from. The property was fully booked so there was no option of changing rooms Positive: Staff were as helpful as expected at such a busy time. Breakfast was great and wait staff lovely. Location is also great and our room was nice and quiet Beds are comfortable although I think pillows need replacing

I feel the property was not accurately described and misrepresented. The hotel had a musty odor throughout-our hallway carpet on our floor had a huge puddle of water stain. The hallway walls and doors were all damaged and in need of paint. Hotel floors had zero decor or appeal. Very basic hotel. Our room had zero toilet paper in it. We killed a bug in the room just before our decision to leave the property. The neighborhood was also slightly rough.

Fantastic stay. Spacious, clean and well-appointed room. Close to transport. Hotel Restaurant Thomas St Kitchen and Bar offered delicious food and exceptional service. All staff at Sydney Central Hotel were attentive, friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.

This hotel was clean, with comfortable beds and modern decor. The only thing I would add would be a mirror in the main area. The balcony door was difficult to open, make sure you lift some weights before trying! They set up a cot in our room while we were out (by mistake) but we're quick to fix the error and apologetic. Overall, the location was great, hotel safe and the buffet breakfast a great option. Staff were super friendly. Would recommend and would definitely stay here again.

Very impressed for the price we paid! 1 star to the hotel staff who were lovely to deal with and very helpful, even showing us the bus routes. 1 star for the check-in experience and upgraded room. 1 star for the cleanliness and facilities in the entire establishment. 1 star for the breakfast which at $20 a head was a bargain! 1 star for the location and ease of commute from Central Station. Very impressed with this hotel and its staff. I had emailed prior to our arrival to see if we could check-in earlier and received a very polite email back to say it may not be possible depending on room availability, which I completely appreciate. However when we got there around 11am the staff were very accommodating and booked us into a room immediately. Not only that, but we were upgraded to the top floor! The rooms were exceptionally clean and the bed was actually comfy! I was also impressed that shortly after going into our room the phone rang and it was reception asking if everything was okay - which it was. We felt very VIP staying here. 11/10 would stay here again :)

Nice hotel in good neighbourhood. Room big and convenient, no outlets by the bed though Small pool with nice temperature The restaurant had lunch for 15 Aud and there were many tasty vegetarian options. Staff wasn’t really welcoming, no smiles, except for Dennis and Maxim in the reception, they were super friendly and helpful I would consider stay there again if I go to Sydney

I recently stayed at Sydney Central Hotel and overall had a very good experience but with one noticeable downside that left me a bit disappointed. First, the positives: the location is absolutely fantastic. It’s right in a convenient spot that makes it easy to get around the city and I really appreciated how close everything was. The room itself was clean, tidy, and very comfortable. My favourite thing about the stay by far was the bed – it was absolutely massive and incredibly comfortable. After a long day of walking around and exploring Sydney, it was exactly what I wanted to come back to. Honestly, one of the best hotel beds I’ve slept in. However, what really let the experience down for me was the TV. At the end of the day, I was so ready to curl up in that amazing bed and watch a movie but the TV was extremely basic. It wasn’t a smart TV, so I couldn’t log into any streaming services and the only channels available were the bare minimum. There wasn’t even a movie channel. In this day and age, I think it’s a pretty reasonable expectation for hotels, especially ones at this price point, to at least have smart TVs or provide a few decent entertainment options. To give some context, the night before I stayed at a much more basic budget hotel in Melbourne that cost less, and even they had a proper smart TV. So it was quite frustrating to feel like I had “downgraded” in that sense while paying more. Other than this a great hotel and staff. The other facilities were great too!

Family of 4 adults stayed in the property; however, the wifi was limited for use of only 3 devices!! It’s 2024, not 2004!!! Seemed like they have a code for visitor but it wasn’t even offered. We were welcomed (maybe unwelcomed) with an empty body wash bottle. Next morning I placed the bottle on the edge of bathtub with the bottle opened so housekeeper easily notices. Unfortunately it was not refilled and replaced at the entrance (meaning that the housekeeper recognized). I concluded that I expected too high because the property was “managed by ascott”

Front desk staff named Vee tried to force us into signing up for the hotel group's membership, saying it was "mandatory". When we couldn't get the log in to work and told her we were happy to wait until our normal check in time (which was in 20 minutes), she said don't worry about it. I have never ever had front desk staff try to force me into signing up for a hotel membership, it was always suggested for benefits like early check in. Needless to say this experience has really soured the first impressions of the hotel and its staff.

Booked the accommodation for Novotel brand and security only. But, it was mistake. Starting from the beginning to the end, had a terrible experience. We booked a double queen bed room. However, the receptionist said, we can early checkin if we opt for a King bed with an additional roller bed. I didn't know it was trap to down-grade. The roller-bed was a bed for patients only. All the amenities were old. Even the bathroom is not having good space. You can't close the door before squeezing yourself. We were on 10th floor and one day one of the lift was not working and they took hours to fix it. The worst part was when the housekeeping took our souvenir boxes which we noticed a day after. When I reported to the reception in the morning, they said, they are going to look into the matter and update me. Waited for hours and didn't receive a response from them. When I followed up, they said, they are looking into it and will keep me posted. During the afternoon, when I contacted the reception, the shift was over for the previous receptionist. So, I had to explain it again. However, no response till the night time. Then we requested to have a chat with the manager (hoping that he/she might help us). But, it looks like they all read the same of excuse. Such a shame. And, as expected, he all said that he will look into the issue and keep me posted. Till now I have not received anything. Instead of feeling sorry for the mess, they are looking for excuses. I will not book here again.

Not only that, but when I got back to my room at the end of the day there was a fresh cheese and fruit plate and a hand written note- completely above and beyond and truly appreciated!

This hotel is in a great location - 6 minute walk to Central Station and a 13-minute train to the Airport! The beds are SUPER comfortable, and the staff were lovely. My only complaint is that the late-night in-room dining was basically non-existent - two pizza options. Checking in at 11pm after a long day and I was counting on being able to get something to eat. That said - I'll certainly stay here again!

We've stayed at this location many times before, however this has been the best yet. There were some things that could have made it even better. Check in was very informative and helpful. Although we've stayed here previously, I was unaware that the hotel had a guest laundry. Maybe it's new? We didn't need to use it, but that is very helpful for our future visits. The hotel offered a complimentary breakfast in the restaurant in the lobby. This was excellent and had not been available on previous visits. There was a lot of food to choose from, and plenty of vegetarian options. There was even a gluten free station, and alternate milks available for cereals. There's a pancake machine (!). Everything was well-presented, staff were lovely, and the food was great. This hotel is in a convenient location in Sydney for us on our visits, and is next to/part of a parking structure with reasonable pricing, which is one of the reasons we chose it. Check out is easy. There is a key drop box near the elevator. Two things that could have improved our stay: the lamps on the bedhead are not well placed. Have hit our heads on them multiple times, and it is not possible to sit up in bed. Also, a fire alarm went off on one night of our visit. I appreciate that this is a good thing for safety, but I would have liked to have had an announcement that confirmed all clear afterwards. Instead it just ended, and we couldn't relax/didn't know if it was over/safe.

Downside would like reduced car parking as hotel guest, hand rail by bath/shower and disappointed restaurant closed Sunday and Mondays. Generally would recommend.

Wouldn’t stay again. Positives - close to central station, room was clean/tidy. Negatives - photos on site look a lot nicer, needs some love, went to use the gym and it was as hot as a sauna/couldn’t use, ordered the most expensive beef burgers we have ever had and by far the worst tasting. Over $60 for 2 basic burgers. One wasn’t cooked/the pattie was raw and had to be re made. Very small menu too.
